Not so DCat has taken half a turkey joint off the worktop, where it was cooling, has dragged it across the kitchen floor and eaten chunks off both ends.

We are due to have a buffet for family tomorrow and DH reckons it will be all right if we microwave it well. I'm not convinced. His other suggestion was that we cut the ends off and save the middle. I don't think that will work either, not now it's been on the floor.

I'm going to have to come up with a Plan B, aren't I?

Serve, obviously.

I would be furious if I found out the food I was eating has first been chewed by a cat and the dragged across the floor. I wouldn’t risk it.

DisforDarkChocolate · 25/12/2023 21:07

You can't serve that!

Comedycook · 25/12/2023 21:07

No...that's absolutely disgusting. Shops are open tomorrow. Go first thing and buy a chicken or something

Floopani · 25/12/2023 21:11

Absolutely not. Even without the cat and floor, blasting a turkey joint in a microwave sounds minging too. I can't believe you are even considering this.

BrendasIronSledge · 25/12/2023 21:13

That's manky to even consider it. Eat it yourselves if you must but treat your guests with a bit more respect.

GreatGateauxsby · 25/12/2023 21:16

I would be furious and probably never speak to or socialise with you again if I ate this and then found out.

Absolutely not okay.

There's a real violation around lack of consent you cannot trick guests into eating this.
It's just wrong.

Lolovans · 25/12/2023 21:18

Do NOT serve this to your guests, that's disgusting

PegasusReturns · 25/12/2023 21:19

That’s one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever heard.

you absolutely cannot serve that to anyone 🤢

A violation around lack of consent… have a day off! 😂

OP, I think your instinct is right. I wouldn’t serve this or be happy to eat it.

NewYearNewYu · 25/12/2023 21:23

You also can’t microwave it, would you be planning to serve it warm at a buffet? Sounds like a recipe for food poisoning even without the cats intervention.

AppleKatie · 25/12/2023 21:24

Nah that turkey has gone now.

shame but there it is. Go out first thing and buy a chicken.

SnowInTheSnow · 25/12/2023 21:25

I may feed this to certain family members, after I’d let the dog have a go at it too. 🤣

KinS24 · 25/12/2023 21:27

Well of course not. So many germs.
I would carve it up and freeze it for cat food.

educatingrati · 25/12/2023 21:29

Ewwww no, that's rank! I'm impressed by your cat! I wouldn't serve up Steve either, although if your cat is called Steve I can see why you might be tempted! Defo give it to your husband as he doesn't seem bothered, so he can share the rest of the turkey with Steve the 🐈‍⬛ .

Lzzyisgod · 25/12/2023 21:30

😂😂 I mean I'm all for the 7 second rule (except for guests) but that's pushing it a bit too far.

I agree with you .... time for plan B.

Hercisback · 25/12/2023 21:30

😂 You almost had me there OP.
No one microwaves turkey.

Christmaswrap · 25/12/2023 21:34

Turn it into soup, boiled it’ll be fine! Not sure anyone could eat it tho.

Rosecoffeecup · 25/12/2023 21:38

I'll eat most things but even I know that is an absolute no no

It's the dragging across the kitchen floor which seals it for me 🤮🤮🤮🤮

Balloonhearts · 25/12/2023 21:42

Cats carry some really dangerous bacteria in their mouths besides which it's absolutely disgusting. Go buy some chicken or something, you can't serve that.

I don't know why but this made me laugh out loud

Itslegitimatesalvage · 25/12/2023 21:52

No. Absolutely not. A quick aside… were you always planning to microwave the turkey for tomorrow? Coz that sounds unpleasant.
But anyway, the guests are saved from the micro turkey because you absolutely ca not serve that.

Itslegitimatesalvage · 25/12/2023 21:52

(This was a scene from downton abbey though….)

tuscanvines · 25/12/2023 21:52

Disgusting.

Sandytoxic · 25/12/2023 21:55

Any food that’s been on the floor, where there are pets, is a big no.
