Something woo happened to me today

Christmas Greetings all. Well, I didn't think I'd be writing this today of all days, but here we go...

So, I popped to the pub before Christmas lunch today only for one but I thought it would be a nice start to the day. This is not a pub I frequent often and I have never sat in this part of the pub - just to get the preliminaries out of the way and to set the scene. As I was leaving I spotted something small and shiny on the floor - roughly 2 feet away and which I hadn't noticed as I arrived as the space had been occupied by a group of four who had now left. Something about the object seemed familiar so I leant over to pick it up...to my amazement It was only my trinket which I lost around 10 years ago! Not to be too identifying I don't want to say exactly what the object was, but it was something that was extremely personal to me and about the size of a bracelet.

But how can this be ?! I'd lost this item around ten years ago when I'd tore the house upside down looking for it and since then have moved house to a completely new area 50 miles away! This has really unnerved me and tbh if I'm to suspend all rational belief and believe this is a " sign " of sorts, is it a good omen or a warning that shit is in the way?

I wasn't in a particularly good place emotionally when I lost this item but it gave me some comfort at the time (I carried it with me everywhere until it went missing). It's just utterly bizarre and being Christmas day it's made me question the wooness of it all even more. It literally defies logic for it to turn up, practically land at my feet in a pub I rarely use in a area miles away from where I lived before. If you have any similar stories or interpretations of what this could signify, help!

Aww, I'm so glad you got it back, that's fab.

AlwaysForksAndMarbles · 25/12/2023 19:21

It was one the same as yours which someone else owned and had dropped, and because the thing was familiar to you, it caught your eye. It’s nice if it means something to you, but not really “woo”. Unless you’re about to tell me that it was an absolute one off, designed for you and the person who made it never made anything ever again.

ScarlettDarling · 25/12/2023 19:21

I think I’d assume that it’s not the same trinket which you lost, but one which looks the same as yours. Still coincidental but not particularly woo.
Did you hand it in or did you keep it?

Glad you found it! Obvious question - are you wearing any clothing it could have been in all that time and then fallen out? Or a bag?

AlisonDonut · 25/12/2023 19:23

Was it likely to have been in the bag or the coat you were wearing?

Undineimmor · 25/12/2023 19:24

Ther person who stole it recognised you and wanted to do something nice for you so put it on the floor.

Grimchmas · 25/12/2023 19:25

That's lovely - I hope the same thing happens to me with a bracelet I was sad to lose!

LesserSpottedFlamingo · 25/12/2023 19:27

It's not of any monetary value it really isn't and it's 100% a one off ( think engraved type of personal )

OP posts:
TheShellBeach · 25/12/2023 19:27

It's just a trinket which looks exactly like the one you lost. It cannot possibly be the same one.

Cosycover · 25/12/2023 19:28

Was it a one of a kind item?

Most likely someone from that area has lost their trinket now as you have taken it.

LesserSpottedFlamingo · 25/12/2023 19:28

Undineimmor · 25/12/2023 19:24

Lol. That's funny!

I think it depends what it is and how rare it was but I believe in this sort of stuff and whether it was someone else's trinket that just looked like yours, you still found it and thought it was a sign so I'd take it as a sign if you want to.
When I was a kid I got a Barbie from my grandma for Christmas. Walking back home from her house, the Barbie's shoe fell off, I looked down and it was gone. Ten years later I was walking past the spot I'd lost it, happened to glance down and there was the shoe. It was defo the same one as it was distinctive. In the meantime, that whole road had changed and a train station had been built right next to the spot.

CarrieMoonbeams · 25/12/2023 19:29

I'm editing my reply because you answered in the meantime. That's absolutely incredible then, the universe definitely wanted you to have it back!🤗

user14699084786 · 25/12/2023 19:31

I’d also say it’s been hidden in your coat or handbag all these years (assuming i can’t be the only one thats got vintage coats and bags!) Amazing to get it back though.

Oh god thank you ! I'm feeling like a loon typing this out and the friends I've told today are disbelieving to put it mildly. Glad you got Barbie shoe back !

It was in a pocket or a bag and fell out

Orbitolld · 25/12/2023 19:34

That’s amazing. No idea how it happened but I think it’s open to us to interpret stuff like this how we want to and then that energy kind of sticks - it IS very woo. Wooooo nice to have it back though?

SmugglersHaunt · 25/12/2023 19:35

I want to believe as it’s Christmas! I also want to go to the pub to find my bike that got nicked, but the pub’s shut 😕

LookAtThatCritter · 25/12/2023 19:36

so happy you got it back! Is any of your clothing the same as 10 years ago? Or perhaps same bag?

Or it’s just Christmas magic! 😀

LesserSpottedFlamingo · 25/12/2023 19:36

God it's freaky though. I wouldn't say I'm particularly woo type of person but open minded enough to believe there are things out there that we don't yet understand.

This.

or it’s been in the lining of you bag or the turn up of your trousers the whole time and happened to fall out today.

Or, (extremely unlikely) it was taken by someone who coincidentally dropped it there today.

Or someone else had the same thing engraved with the same message- there is actually very little that is truly unique in the world of ‘stuff’.

Strange things do happen.

Hastheslotharrivedyet · 25/12/2023 19:40

It’s Christmas magic x

Lorac23 · 25/12/2023 19:44

The fairies evidently have no need for it now and have decided it was time to return it. 🙂Alternatively it fell through a gap in the alternate timeline/hole in the lining of the trousers of time (see: Discworld). If it had been outside I'd have added a magpie possibility. Lots of logical theories already in this thread so I'm going for the wackier approach. Just glad it came back to you.

zaazaazoo · 25/12/2023 19:50

@Igotagoodcard Or someone else had the same thing engraved with the same message- there is actually very little that is truly unique in the world of ‘stuff’

Tbh it would be even more woo for someone to have exactly the same piece of jewellery either way exactly the same name or even message engraved on it and then for them to drop it in a random place where the OP happened to be

Richard1985 · 25/12/2023 19:52

Are you deliberately ignoring the comments which mention that it could have been caught in the bag or coat you were wearing. Is that a possibility?
