Because I do - for some bizarre reason I really like it.

Please tell me I'm not a weirdo!

I love it too. My family is Irish so food is love to us 😂

Same here. I love putting my music on in the kitchen and making everyone a lovely meal.

Movinghouseatlast · 25/12/2023 11:50

I love it. I haven't done it for 3 years and I miss it. We live too far away for people to come to us so we end up going visiting.

Beckafett · 25/12/2023 11:52

I do. Did it for the first time in covid and happily making it for me and my mum whilst the kids are at their dads.

Sirzy · 25/12/2023 11:56

I love it. Don’t go OTT and have everything nice and relaxed. I have done it with my Mum for years and we just bounce around happily knowing our own jobs. It’s lovely

FluffActually · 25/12/2023 12:01

Me! I wish I could quit my job and be a chef. Jump at the chance to cater for a crowd rather than just my immediate family. Only problem is DH is similarly into food, so we fight over who gets to do more.

Floralnomad · 25/12/2023 12:03

I cooked a full Christmas dinner yesterday and I enjoyed it .

YesIReallyDidOK · 25/12/2023 12:03

I absolutely love it! I'm not doing it this year for various reasons and I've caught myself planning next year's meal instead 🤣

festivetinseling · 25/12/2023 12:04

My mum hated it, and I took over as soon as I had my own place, and have done it ever since - this year is the 41st. Crikey. I do have it down to a fairly fine art now though. Don't bother with all the fancy stuff - I don't faff with things like sprouts, they come au naturel, as do the other veg.

Ratfinkstinkypink · 25/12/2023 12:04

Me too!

OatcakeCravings · 25/12/2023 12:04

Just a chore to me, a bigger chore than a normal dinner time.

gano · 25/12/2023 12:06

I do too. I don't understand why so many people get in such a flap over it. My mum uses to have a nervous breakdown, every year, without fail. Obviously, I try my best to make it as nice as possible, but if something goes awry it's hardly the end of the world.

Almondmum · 25/12/2023 12:07

I don't mind until the end when I get really stressed trying to make sure everything is ready at the right time! This year I've bought myself a little food warming thingy so I can stagger things ever so slightly and hopefully not get stressed.

tiredandolderthanithought · 25/12/2023 12:09

I do but I like the whole thing so my girls since they were little have always helped prep the veg the night before and it's become a tradition, along with them making star topped mince pies.

We're eating at 130 but my turkey rests for ages so the ovens are free for all the other goodies. Will be putting that all in very soon!

AuntieMarys · 25/12/2023 12:10

I've never cooked one and I'm 64.

TheaBrandt · 25/12/2023 12:10

Fucking hate it.

Ragwort · 25/12/2023 12:10

I do too ... and I actively enjoy the opportunity to be on my own in my kitchen ... maybe I'm a horrible mum but the thought of tediously playing with new toys is not my idea of fun (thankfully DS is grown up now) ... I can still remember the utter boredom of setting up MouseTrap ... with a smile plastered on my face Grin.

I keep the meal fairly simple and traditional and don't do loads of side dishes .. and much prep before.

StragglyTinsel · 25/12/2023 12:13

I like it too. That’s why I do it. I really enjoy making nice food for everyone. Making all the constituent parts a little bit special.

if I hated it, I’d not do it. Or I’d buy everything ready to go so it’s just putting trays in the oven and serving. But I like it so I bugger about making my own stuffing and gravy from scratch.

RabbitsRock · 25/12/2023 12:18

I have had total meltdowns over joints of meat in the past but much more relaxed nowadays. We usually do the veg on Christmas Eve but I’ve just finished it now so we’ll eat much later than usual. I wouldn’t say I exactly enjoy cooking Christmas lunch but I don’t hate it. The timings are the trickiest.

Bah Humbug!

I do and I wish I was right now. Instead I’m trapped in a hell zone of loud plastic dinosaurs.

MintJulia · 25/12/2023 12:32

I do. It's the one day a year when I actually write out the timings, and it goes to plan. Mostly I'm an 'always in a hurry' cook.

I love it.

Isseywith3witchycats · 25/12/2023 12:36

i like doing christmas day dinner timings are easy and i like eating things we wouldnt eat the rest of the year like starters and the anticipation of my family coming over to eat and chat
