What have you got your DH/DW/DP for Christmas?

My DH always goes OTT with gifts for every occasion - birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, etc. I've got him a couple of things but don't see the point in buying for the sake of buying. I've just come across his gifts for me, all wrapped. I don't know what they are but there are loads of them!! I haven't asked for anything specific.

I feel really bad now. It's not about the money as the gifts I bought were expensive, but will it look like I'm being stingey/lazy/thoughtless?

What have you got for your OH?

My DH always goes overboard at Xmas. I have bought him some new Sketchers trainers, 2 cd’s, a box of sweets and a jumper. The jumper didn’t arrive so he will get that next week. I have also got him some stocking fillers- Xmas socks and small gadgets. I wanted to get him a few other bits but have been ill with covid. I think as long as some thought has gone into the gifts, then he should be grateful for whatever you give him.

@BringMeMyOodie - I was just going to post the same thing! 🤣🤣. My DH never asks for much at Christmas but makes a few suggestions and I do the same. I put his presents under the tree yesterday in a gift bag (jumper, PJs, book, slippers) and we do each other stockings with silly bits and chocolates etc. He just came down the stairs with an enormous box and a huge pile of gifts! 😳😳. I can't imagine anything I've asked for that might be in the huge box and I'm really worried that he's gone completely overboard!

fallingapart2 · 24/12/2023 18:38

I've specifically asked him not to get me anything as he always spends too much. He's put his hand in his pocket and used his initiative to buy for the four kids though.
From the kids I've bought him some Ugg Tazz slippers, his favourite Hotel Chocolat goodies, some designer pants and a historical 'painting' of an army general or something with his head superimposed on it with a gilt frame, from Etsy.

DeadButDelicious · 24/12/2023 18:43

It's not that he's hard to buy for, he's just got very niche tastes (left wing politics, Norwegian black metal, baldurs gate and bizarrely, Gordon Ramsay are his main interests) and he isn't particularly materialistic. I used my only really good idea for his birthday.

I was going to get him a blanket from Redbubble or something with Gordon Ramsays face printed on it but the price of them was ridiculous so in the end I've crocheted him a little Gordon Ramsay doll. I hope he bloody likes it. Grin

A metal detector!

it’s a completely random gift so no idea how it will go down!

anxiousnanna · 24/12/2023 18:51

... a cruise!! well in fairness its a joint present. we dont buy gifts for each other, we are way too old and long in the tooth and if we want something we just buy it, so we put our money together and treat ourselves to a nice holiday instead

topgirlalways · 24/12/2023 18:52

Aftershave, plane model to make and paint (he mentioned it once), chocolate, thermal socks, body wash and a joke stop snoring glove. Oh and a match day pass for football. I know he hasn’t got me anything yet as he was ill, working on call. Luckily we are spending it apart, so he had time!!

tinytemper66 · 24/12/2023 18:55

Skechers, other lovely shoes, lots of foodie stuff and lots of books 📚

NooNakedJacuzziness · 24/12/2023 18:56

@DeadButDelicious - it really looks like him, how clever!

ItsMyPartyParty · 24/12/2023 18:57

We agree a budget so no unexpected overspending.

He wanted a suit this year. So he’s got that. Plus a few little bits to open - bath soak, meat thermometer (I’m hoping to put this at the top so it’s opened in time for me to use it to check the Turkey!), favourite chocs.

tillyandmilly · 24/12/2023 19:01

Chess game, book, Ben Sherman shirt, Rohan pullover top, fleece hoodie, £50 amazon voucher!

Loafbeginsat60 · 24/12/2023 19:19

I've bought him three gifts but in total they were £600 😬 - it doesn't look a lot but he has expensive tastes!

He's got trainers, a collectors bottle of whisky and some aftershave.

His birthday is right after Christmas so for that I have a new outdoor coat and a lumberjack type shirt.

Jeffjefftyjeff · 24/12/2023 19:23

Massage gun, knife sharpener, north face jumper.

anxiousnanna · 24/12/2023 19:24

can i just add... its not the cost, its the sentiment behind the gift! don't get hung up on 'i've not spent much'... he wont care as i am sure if the role was reversed you wouldnt either...

merry christmas

useitorlose · 24/12/2023 19:29

Lego Concorde. We also went shopping last weekend and he got 3 Ted Baker tops. I got a new smart watch and he's also got me a few things to open with heavy guidance from me.

Ghost92 · 24/12/2023 19:36

Mine’s a massive Dr Who fan so I always try and get something related to that. This year he has a wooden bookmark with a quote on it and a ‘University of Gallifrey’ t shirt, both found on Etsy. He’s also got Star Wars pj’s, Davidoff aftershave, Diddly Squat book,a NASA t shirt and a mug with photos of him and the kids on.

DelilahBucket · 24/12/2023 19:57

I like lots of little presents, DH likes less but more expensive things iyswim. So he's got some Ray-Bans, a fleece, a beer brewing class and one of his favourite aftershaves.

Cocoalover · 24/12/2023 20:00

We always spoil each other at Christmas, we love it! I've bought him a cheese hamper, cheese board, a selection box of different coffees, jeans, 2 t shirts, a hoodie, vans trainers, dc trainers, loreal beard set, a lush gift set, old spice set, a wallet, brushes for his warhammer, chocolates and socks. Can't wait to see his face!

TheChosenTwo · 24/12/2023 20:01

2 T-shirts costing a grand total of £260 🫣
and some of his favourite pint glasses.
He’s really particular and would rather have no presents at all but it’s Christmas! He also only really likes ‘nice’ stuff And is hard to buy for.
I was toying with a coffee machine but I think he’d rather choose that himself because he knows what he wants and I have no idea as I hate coffee.

TheChosenTwo · 24/12/2023 20:02

@DeadButDelicious very clever! It made me smile 😊

Loafbeginsat60 · 24/12/2023 20:04

Jeffjefftyjeff · 24/12/2023 19:23

Massage gun, knife sharpener, north face jumper.

I thought that said "massive gun" 😮

icebearforpresident · 24/12/2023 20:04

A hoodie and 36 cans of his favourite beer that I got on a Black Friday deal, about £60 all in. I’m getting a bottle of gin and, most likely a book or two.
