What have you got your DH/DW/DP for Christmas?

My DH always goes OTT with gifts for every occasion - birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, etc. I've got him a couple of things but don't see the point in buying for the sake of buying. I've just come across his gifts for me, all wrapped. I don't know what they are but there are loads of them!! I haven't asked for anything specific.

I feel really bad now. It's not about the money as the gifts I bought were expensive, but will it look like I'm being stingey/lazy/thoughtless?

What have you got for your OH?

2 T-shirts costing a grand total of £260 🫣
and some of his favourite pint glasses.
He’s really particular and would rather have no presents at all but it’s Christmas! He also only really likes ‘nice’ stuff And is hard to buy for.
I was toying with a coffee machine but I think he’d rather choose that himself because he knows what he wants and I have no idea as I hate coffee.

My dh is so similar. And he buys himself things he wants. He thinks nothing of spending £200 on a top or shirt whereas I like to shop at Shein!

Men like this are very hard to buy for

Pascha · 24/12/2023 20:06

Cycling gloves and a Toblerone from the children. They got me alcohol and flowers. We don't do individual presents between the two of us.

OwlWeiwei · 24/12/2023 20:08

The Magnum coffee table book of Photography which he really wants, a bottle of fancy whisky he mentioned he loves and a half bottle of sweet wine, a couple of books, a CD (he still listens to them) socks, panforte and a nice art deco style hardback notebook.

Joggers, ninja creami, sticky golf and a massive toblerone!

TheChosenTwo · 24/12/2023 20:12

@Loafbeginsat60 to be fair we are both the same, buy what we want when we want it, I think he’d say I was equally hard to buy for but I also love books, candles, skincare and a few other things so I don’t think I am 😂
The dc have all chosen him really thoughtful bits that he’ll love but at the same time he’ll tell them they shouldn’t waste their money on him!
I definitely agree though that he’s hard to buy for.

Sonolanona · 24/12/2023 20:43

Roof bars for his campervan, some new walking boots and a hand crocheted rainbow striped blanket (also for the van) that took me 6 months to make!

Toooldtoworry · 24/12/2023 20:49

Festival of Speed tickets, memory foam pillows and a drawing of our puppy.

It's not that he's hard to buy for, he's just got very niche tastes (left wing politics, Norwegian black metal, baldurs gate and bizarrely, Gordon Ramsay are his main interests) and he isn't particularly materialistic. I used my only really good idea for his birthday.

I was going to get him a blanket from Redbubble or something with Gordon Ramsays face printed on it but the price of them was ridiculous so in the end I've crocheted him a little Gordon Ramsay doll. I hope he bloody likes it. Grin

This is great! You’re v talented, I’m sure he’s going to love it.

Ladyj84 · 24/12/2023 21:12

We don't buy for each other. Our 4 kids are what matter we prefer a few days away on our own at a different time lol

IntheSnowySnowyMountains · 25/12/2023 00:04

Mine is hard to buy for, because he buys the stuff he needs. And I have to tell him what I was, because he is afraid of getting the wrong thing!

I've bought him a rucksack for his snow-shoes, a flask, thermal socks, underwear, T-shirts (that did not cost £260 @TheChosenTwo Grin), small kitchen gadget and some bath cubes. He has also bought a couple of vintage jigsaws as a kind of present to himself - not handed over for wrapping up, but saved for Christmas anyway. His birthday is in 18 days so will be reading the thread for inspiration!

Oh and I love crochet Gordon, @DeadButDelicious

ChristmasEvemaddness · 25/12/2023 00:27

Two token gifts and I feel a little guilty.
Book and rum. I said no presents from each other this year as I've taken some financial hits.
However there was something else I wanted to get but ran out of funds but I will try in the sales.

Babyroobs · 25/12/2023 00:30

We don't buy much as we don't need more stuff and are fed up with more and more stuff filling the house. So we tend to buy each other things like vouchers ( usually Groupon) for nice things to do, spa day, afternoon tea or meal at local restaurant.

LorlieS · 25/12/2023 00:35

Slippers and a glases cases for his new specs. I think my hubby is an old man! 😄

Namchange101 · 25/12/2023 00:39

DH is a nightmare to buy for as he always goes on a spending spree before Christmas leaving me with nothing left to buy for him. He has very simple tastes and doesn’t like having money spent on him 🙄
So at his request he has a replacement sports kit bag (that he’ll prob send back as there was very little choice of styling), some aftershave, specific sweets and the surprise… tickets to see Nicole Scherzinger in Sunset Boulevard.

MollsDolls · 25/12/2023 00:47

Tickets to a candlelight concert to the music of Queen, some books and Jocks. We don't really do big pressies.

mrsfollowill · 25/12/2023 00:49

Dh bought his own present from me a couple of weeks ago- it was on online thing he really wanted but was £200! He did ask first- I've got him a few bits to open in the morning but nothing spectacular as he's had his best present already- he has a nice bottle of Vodka (unusual craft type one), socks, pants, thermal gloves and some of those handwarmer things from Amazon.
I've bought myself a bunch of stuff from him around the same value- it's things I really wanted that are really a bit extravagant! I've got nice jewellery x 2, some proper fancy chocolates and a few other bits- got a really nice craft gin as well which I have sampled tonight. We share all our money anyway- all goes in one pot.

Pipsqueakpopsqueak · 25/12/2023 00:57

A t-shirt I thought he’d like, 4 craft beers and 2 bars of vegan chocolate he hasn’t tried yet. He’s not one for ‘stuff’ so prefers things he needs, or consumables (food). Makes it v. easy for me!

Christmashols · 25/12/2023 01:07

Nothing. We’ve just booked an impromptu trip to New York so that’s our present to each other I guess.

Most years DH doesn’t get me a Christmas gift on Christmas Day, but buys me a Disney Dooney and Bourke on our summer trip to FL. I’d much rather wait and get something like that than have him buy what would inevitably be rubbish.

Christmashols · 25/12/2023 01:10

@DeadButDelicious

Crochet Gordon wins for me. You are very talented.

caringcarer · 25/12/2023 01:15

I've got him an industrial nail gun and he picked it himself so he likes it. I've got a book I know he wants, Toblerone, new safety goggles, pizza oil set in stainless steel rack to sit on worktop, Marzipan fruits, socks, hoody, dressing gown. I think he'll be happy.

AngeloMysterioso · 25/12/2023 01:42

Def Leppard Hysteria on vinyl “from the DC”
Earphones
big knitted hoodie from Zara
Ralph Lauren shirt

SqueezyMcJingles · 25/12/2023 01:51

Nothing.
