Am I the only one without a tree up?

Honestly it’s been a massive year for me and next year will also have its health challenges. I rent. The builder has been doing the new floor for weeks and weeks he’s done one in the bathroom and bedroom one of them are finished. My living room is like a building site. He’s in his 70’s and yes it’s fantastic that he’s still doing the job but I swear he never stays longer than midday. The edging needs doing. I’m tripping up
every time I walk into a room because it’s sticking up, his dangerous tools are all over my little room, I know I should be glad to be here but I love my tree ornaments there’s no where to put it and it will just add to the mess☹️

I never put a tree up so if that helps, you are welcome to it.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 24/12/2023 16:20

Haven’t bothered since 2000. 😃

Hbh17 · 24/12/2023 16:21

Nope. We never put a tree up, nor decorations - can't see the point.
(I do slightly miss the smell of a Christmas tree tho 🤣).

I’m in the middle of a full house renovation, there’s absolutely no room for a tree.

In the morning I’ll get YouTube on the tv, with a lovely Christmas scene and music and the presents will be under there 😂

BCBird · 24/12/2023 16:28

No renovations or reason why I don't have a tree or decorations up apart from the fact that I just don't want to. No kids to cater for so do as I please

nottodaytomorrow · 24/12/2023 16:29

No tree here OP

tinselvestsparklepants · 24/12/2023 16:31

We put up a garland and hung our decorations on that instead. Don't worry! It'll be finished soon. Have a happy Christmas.

raindropsonatinroof · 24/12/2023 16:31

You're fine! I didnt put a tree up the year I was pregnant (my son ended up being born on Christmas Day) the world did not end and the apocalypse didnt happen so all is well- good luck with the renovations x

OldTinHat · 24/12/2023 16:32

No tree here.

But may I compliment you on your stool? I have the same one!

GreySantaRabbit · 24/12/2023 16:34

No tree here either! Just a few Xmas bits and bobs.

tedgran · 24/12/2023 16:47

No tree here either. Had a new knee mid November, knew I wouldn't be up to dealing with it this year, we have lots of cards up, a wreath and the mantelpiece has a few decs. Going to a friends tomorrow thankfully, but have DHs family on Boxing day, cold food that's enough for this year!

marshmallowfinder · 24/12/2023 16:53

No tree here. Is just me and I don't see the point.

ALongHardWinter · 24/12/2023 16:55

I haven't bothered with a tree since 2017 when my DD moved into her own place. I honestly don't think there's much point when it's just me (and the cat) here. I've got arthritic joints and a frozen shoulder so its just another job that I can be doing without tbh.

Amazedtobesane · 24/12/2023 16:58

No tree up here either. We have a single bauble hanging from a lampshade that I put there last year and couldn't be bothered to take down.

I'm in a similar position - desperately want to put my tree up but our house has been utter chaos with renovations that have stretched on longer than anticipated and builders tools everywhere. Hoping for a much more festive Christmas next year!

EachandEveryone · 24/12/2023 17:03

Honestly my new sofa can come out until its all finished its just me and the cats as well but my baubles are quite sentimental to me so I like to see them once a year.

Love the gratuitous Cat photo

We have 2 cats so No Tree as the little buggers try to wreck it !

DRS1970 · 24/12/2023 17:14

No tree up here as such. This year we just put up a few shoe box sized trees we have in different areas around the house. They just come ready straight out of the box, so not very much work.We didn't want to go full humbug, but really couldn't be bothered to do a full sized tree and all the decorations.

ChanelNo19EDT · 24/12/2023 17:17

I couldn't be bothered this year. I usually do. Maybe I'll bother next year

Deck the halls with barfed-up holly, fa la la la la - la la la la
Wreck the tree and blame the doggie, fa la la la la - la la la la

I did this year olnly beacuse I have my son over Christmas otherwise I would not had bothered last year I felt the same and didn't put any tree or decorations up

TheKnittedCharacter · 24/12/2023 17:21

I’m sure loads don’t bother, and it’s hardly worth it now!

All of the MN curmudgeons will be on by Boxing Day saying they’ve already taken theirs down anyway!

Grinchwithlove · 24/12/2023 17:36

I dont do christmas at all not done it in years no decs no tree no huge dinner no gifts nothing.
Christmas day for many but its just monday to me.
Doing a deep clean tomorrow done the decluttering today.

EachandEveryone · 24/12/2023 17:37

I do hope this isn’t setting a pattern though, my cats have never bothered with the tree. I hope they feel the same about my new sofa. I don’t trust them and I’m going to Scotland New Year so I might as well leave it wrapped up.

I think this is the first year the cat hasn't stole my baubles off the tree, so you reckon at 10 he's finally maturing?
