Amazon delivered item they have refunded for and I want to return it but….

..they are making it impossible.

i ordered my son a TV for his birthday, it should have been delivered by 2nd December but never arrived and DPD couldn’t find it.

So Amazon replaced it but delivery date wouldn’t be until 29th December which was way too late.

I contacted them and they issued a refund. We bought the same TV from Argos with the refund.

All good until 16th December when I came home from work to my neighbour saying she had taken delivery of a TV from DPD. She let them in and it’s now sitting in my hall.

I contacted Amazon to arrange collection and was sent to the returns stuff. It seems I have to pay the postage for the return of the order which has been cancelled and should not have been sent out.

Even worse when I try and use the chatbot, Amazon has the item as “returned” but it hasn’t been. They are also emailing to say I must return the item they should not have sent or they will bill me again for it.

i just want them to collect the bloody thing, its taking up space which I can’t spare. Is there any email address I can write to? To be frank I don’t have the spare cash to pay for return. I just want it collected.

Have you actually been charged for it?

youneveractually · 22/12/2023 15:30

it’s not going to be a pricey TV

So just bung it on FB marketplace

will be gone by this evening at this time of year if you price low

Do you live nearish an Amazon distribution centre? I understand you can take things there

How much would it cost to post?

I’m confused, so they refunded for the first lost TV but the tv still arrived after DPD found it? Now they want yo to pay for return?

Xmasnights · 22/12/2023 15:32

Or is this the second tv they sent as replacement?

it wouldn’t have been much

as now policy for high value is you have to provide the delivery person with a code that amazon sends you shortly before delivery. You have to give the code for the parcel to be pass to over

growingonmyass · 22/12/2023 15:34

If they have the item as returned on their system I wouldn't worry about it, keep it as a spare or sell it.

WilmaFlintstone1 · 22/12/2023 15:34

It shows as delivered….and also returned! (?) but also says they want it back or they will charge me again.

yes I paid upfront but they refunded it as it wasn’t delivered.

It was £279 for a 50” screen TV so not the most expensive in the world.

Yes I think so…..I a, not sure it will fit in my car though as that’s small. Previous bitter experience of trying to get same size TV in to take to the recycling centre

Take the other one back to the shop and get a refund for that one and let Amazon bill you for the original/whatever they've sent out. They might not.

Call them? I've usually had the most success when there's an actual person trying to figure it out.

mintbiscuit · 22/12/2023 15:39

Escalate to a complaint

Firstly…I LOVE your username.

i cannot find a number for Amazon and it’s not offering it as an option via chat.

I may try TwiX and see if I can speak to a human being that way.

Just call them. I've always found Amazon customer service to be excellent. They'll sort the collection for you

Ohwhatthewhatwhatnow · 22/12/2023 15:42

Use the online chat and be VERY FIRM about what you want. Honestly!

XiCi · 22/12/2023 15:43

The option is on Amazon. There is a call me option and you get an immediate call back on your registered number. I've used it often

Pifful · 22/12/2023 15:43

When you go on customer services there is an option to get them to call you. I have never had anything but outstanding service from Amazon over these kinds of things.

Cyclistmumgrandma · 22/12/2023 15:44

Online chat can give option to call you back. I have found that works.

Sodndashitall · 22/12/2023 15:47

Go onto Amazon chat and keep selecting "other" or "something else " until at the bottom of the screen you see an icon with customer service and click that and you can enter into a chat with an agent and explain to them.
You say this is "unsolicited goods" and they have until xx date to collect at their expense. Just keep repeating this! Normally the agents are helpful tbf

Edited

They have emailed to say it should have been returned and they will bill her again if sh doesn't send it back.

NotInTheMoodForIt · 22/12/2023 15:54

Op ordered tv from Amazon, it didn't arrived so Amazon replaced it but because it was gonna be too late she said no, Amazon refunded her the cost if the tv and she bought it elsewhere instead.

The Amazon tv has turned up and they are saying she will be charged if she doesn't return the TV at her own expense.

If she put it's in Facebook marketplace she runs the risk of being charged for it so she'd still be out of pocket.
