Amazon delivered item they have refunded for and I want to return it but….

..they are making it impossible.

i ordered my son a TV for his birthday, it should have been delivered by 2nd December but never arrived and DPD couldn’t find it.

So Amazon replaced it but delivery date wouldn’t be until 29th December which was way too late.

I contacted them and they issued a refund. We bought the same TV from Argos with the refund.

All good until 16th December when I came home from work to my neighbour saying she had taken delivery of a TV from DPD. She let them in and it’s now sitting in my hall.

I contacted Amazon to arrange collection and was sent to the returns stuff. It seems I have to pay the postage for the return of the order which has been cancelled and should not have been sent out.

Even worse when I try and use the chatbot, Amazon has the item as “returned” but it hasn’t been. They are also emailing to say I must return the item they should not have sent or they will bill me again for it.

i just want them to collect the bloody thing, its taking up space which I can’t spare. Is there any email address I can write to? To be frank I don’t have the spare cash to pay for return. I just want it collected.

I had this with a lamp, it didn’t turn up, they refunded it, it suddenly turned up 3 months later as dpd found it, Amazon told me to keep it foc.

The only time I've had a hea he with returns on Amazon is when it's a third party seller and not actually sold by Amazon. There's usually a way to email the seller on the item listing but the seller if the thing I bought never replied and after weeks of back and forth with Amazon they eventually agreed to cover my postage but I think the chat feature was human as it was a canny few years ago now.

Hope they get it sorted. I got a free dehumidifier off Amazon in similar circumstances where it wasn’t delivered and so I got a refund, it then it eventually appeared a week or so later. I expected they might re-charge for it but they never did.

oh i can’t be arsed with navel gazing the morality of bunging on FB to get rid of a TV I still have solely as a result of an Amazon / DPD cock up and want it out the house rather than cluttering up my front entrance

youneveractually · 22/12/2023 16:06

TVs come on HUGE boxes

i’d want it out. And fast. So yes, i’d bung on FB marketplace!

Did you get the exact same TV from Argos? Could you return the Amazon one to them?!

that’s a decent idea!

I’ve had this issue, but when I actually spoke to Amazon customer service they said to ignore the email asking for a return and keep it.

Problem was it was a mattress and no one needs a spare!

WilmaFlintstone1 · 22/12/2023 16:58

Thank you all, it’s sorted out. Initially the adviser said I’d have to send and they
would refund but then found a way of getting it picked up by UPS. Being collected next week.

Take the other one back to the shop and get a refund for that one and let Amazon bill you for the original/whatever they've sent out. They might not.

That is going to be the easiest thing to do.

@WilmaFlintstone1

It shows as delivered….and also returned! (?) but also says they want it back or they will charge me again.

Remove your payment details from your Amazon account so they can't (hopefully) take money out if your account whilst this is sorted out. I'm surprised at Amazon - in the few interactions I've had with humans - one very recently- there they've been very helpful and professional.

Here's a number I have for them - good luck! 0800 279 7234🌹
