Men in literature

I've been watching another page where they've held a World Cup of attractive literary men. They are down to the final- having (to give some guidance) eliminated Gilbert Blythe and Charles Bingley. A virtual prize to whoever guess the last two. My DP got it right without hesitation. So......?

Mr Darcy I am guessing is one!

ANightmareBeforeChristmas · 22/12/2023 14:04

Rochester from Jane Eyre no. 2?

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 22/12/2023 14:05

I am just crossing my fingers that Christian Fucking Grey was eliminated in the first round.

Taytocrisps · 22/12/2023 14:10

Mr. DArcy from Pride and Prejudice?

Laurie from Little Women?

CurlewKate · 22/12/2023 14:14

Yep. Darcy's one. I don't think Christian Fucking Grey made the playoffs.

I’d have Mr Darcy and John Thornton from North & South but only the Richard Armitage version

ANightmareBeforeChristmas · 22/12/2023 14:17

Sherlock Holmes?

KnittingKnewbie · 22/12/2023 14:17

Darcy and Jon Snow? Jaime Lannister?

CurlewKate · 22/12/2023 14:19

They tend to go for "literature" so Game of Thrones doesn't feature. Yes I know it started as a book.....

James Bond?

Taytocrisps · 22/12/2023 14:20

Oh, maybe Jamie Fraser from Outlander?

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 22/12/2023 14:20

I've got a quiet, but probably totally pointless, hope that Zaphod Beeblebrox is in the last two.

WhenWereYouUnderMe · 22/12/2023 14:21

If it wasn't stuffy old classics, then I'd suggest Jon from Maggie O'Farrell's After You'd Gone.

BarbaraWoodlouse · 22/12/2023 14:23

I would have had Darcy and Rochester too. Though admittedly the whole mad wife in the attic thing has not aged well! 😁

Perhaps Knightly?

ANightmareBeforeChristmas · 22/12/2023 14:24

Heathcliffe?

BarbaraWoodlouse · 22/12/2023 14:24

Or Rhett Butler?

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 22/12/2023 14:24

ANightmareBeforeChristmas · 22/12/2023 14:24

Heathcliffe?

Oh god, no. He's only just down the line from Christian Fucking Grey. Abusive shit.

CurlewKate · 22/12/2023 14:25

Rochester was eliminated early, to my great relief.
@WhenWereYouUnderMe Because it's Christmas and because you like Maggie OFarrell, I'll let "stuffy old classics" pass.....

Lady Chatterley’s Lover - Mellors, is that his name?

ANightmareBeforeChristmas · 22/12/2023 14:26

Severus Snape?

CurlewKate · 22/12/2023 14:26

@Vroomfondleswaistcoat oh, god,yes!!

OP posts:
mynameiscalypso · 22/12/2023 14:26

Tony Stephens as Rochester in the adaptation from the mid-2000s will remain long in the memory.

Taytocrisps · 22/12/2023 14:26

Captain Ross Poldark?

Jacfrost · 22/12/2023 14:27

Captain Wentworth

ANightmareBeforeChristmas · 22/12/2023 14:27

D'Artagnan?
