Which enclosure would you pick....

Stolen off a podcast but thought it's a fun question to ponder!

You are at Chester zoo.

You have to pick one animal enclosure to stand in. The animals in that enclosure will not attack you.

BUT all the animals from the other enclosures are going to try and kill you. The animals in your chosen enclosure will actively try and defend you.

Where are you standing...?

Granted pretty much every scenario will result in your death but which do you think would give you the best shot at survival (or where would you survive the longest)?

I think I'd go for the elephants. I can hide behind them and they're big enough to take on predators and have nice big Stampy feet to deal with any murderous capybaras for example! Grin

Can I relocate to Blair Drummond or Edinburgh? Be far more convenient for my family to collect the body.

No. We're doing this in Chester or not at all.

To be fair, what's left of you would probably be able to be scraped into a jiffy bag and posted back.

Second class mind, I'm not made of money.

@ANightmareBeforeChristmas - I’m nothing if not helpful…

Thank you Lena. You seem very organised. You can have a place on the organising committee if you like.

Oh bum , there’s no wolves 🙁. I’ll be with the African painted Dogs then. They’re on the endangered list 🙁but make a kill about 80% of their hunts so think I’ll be well protected with them !!

WellOwlBeDamned · 22/12/2023 15:19

<headbumps nochoice>

I’m not worried about postage for body, my colleagues can eat me if I fall before them

(just the felines @Nochoiceleft maybe you can catch some of the fruit @DreamingInPhosphorescence is chucking at the bats though)

LadyLindaT · 22/12/2023 15:23

Sorry, if it's only in Chester, I'm out. They are only in Exmoor Zoo. They would still wipe the floor with everything, though!

Happy to oblige!
Organisation would be my middle name, if it weren’t already Helen.

(We sponsor the otters at Chester Zoo because no one could agree on a first choice but the otters were everyone’s second choice.)

They'll be naff all use to you in this competition!

This should be the new series of Squid Game

TitaniasAss · 22/12/2023 15:37

Can I take my own cat with me? He's a vicious twat even though I love him to bits. He'd kill everything in sight then no doubt start on me, so my chances are pretty poor.

The various family members' first choices were Komodo dragon, orangutans, tigers, cheetahs and giraffes.

The first is too slow, I'd feel too guilty introducing strife into the chilled lives of the orangutans, the tigers and cheetahs would probably behave like typical cats and not bother defending me if there wasn't something in it for them side eye glance at tabby and ginger cats on the couch, so I I went for Certain Death but I get to hang out with my lovely giraffes.

Abstaining is not an option. This is like jury duty - everybody has to do it.

Can we use the flamingos like croquet mallets once they have been vanquished by our protectors?

I'll allow it.

10 out of 10 for creativity.

Twatty house cat would probably be a decent contender tbh. Go on then, I'll let you bring him for the content.

I must say, I’m a bit disappointed by the lack of MN commitment to this venture.

Riverlee · 23/12/2023 09:02

Only been to Chester zoo once. I remember the jaguar enclosure being participatory large and lovely so I’m going for a jaguar. If I’m going to die, may as well do it in nice surroundings.

The pandas in Edinburgh have just returned home to China. They were beautiful.

Tigers. I realise I'll probably get taken out by a rhino or a hippo, but if I get to snuggle in a pile of tigers first then that's fine.

Ooh, tempted to change to jaguars!

Can never see the buggers when I go to the zoo so I think maybe we could just hide as the first line of defence!

MysweetAudrina · 23/12/2023 09:25

I think I will have to be strategic, so and enclosure with water and trees. I can climb up a tree and wait it out when being attacked by non climbing animals and tread water when being attacked by water fearing animals. Are there any animals that can climb and like water? Well I will be in that enclosure.

Tree penguins? Sounds like an oxymoron!
