Do you have a cold at the moment?

Just wondering really

No. I started with a cold in September but managed to clear it in a morning. Two members of my family tested +ve for COVID and it came on so quickly I assumed it was that and hammered the elderberry which i think sent it packing.

Since then I've been fine other than a 2 day headache earlier this month.

Those who've been coughing for weeks, has whooping cough been considered? It tends to be underdiagnosed in adults because of vaccines and because they don't tend to have the characteristic whoop.

I've had a cough for nearly 10 weeks now! I'm wondering if I picked something else up at the Christmas party

Have you been to the GP about the cough, OP? 10 weeks is a while... If persistent and not improved or improving, book an appointment (if you can) as you may need a chest x-ray.

But, yes, I've had a cold brewing the passed 2 days then it came out enforce today so had to call in sick. Right at the start of my AL typically!!! Milky tea with honey and Lemsip have been my friends.

Hope you and everyone else feel better and have a lovely Xmas.

Yes, feeling incredibly rough. Where does one get covid tests these days?

Boots?

Wilkolampshade · 21/12/2023 22:42

Yep. DD2 first, about 3 weeks ago. Then me, 2 weeks ago, then DH, yesterday. He was away working for a bit, got back just over a week ago and must have caught it from me. Happy bloody Christmas.

Mindovermatter247 · 21/12/2023 23:06

I’ve just got over one. Started with laryngitis, got an intense cold in the middle, finished with laryngitis.. the cold itself just lasted 3 days… everything altogether was 8 days.

Mindovermatter247 · 21/12/2023 23:06

Dd11 has had a lingering one for 3 weeks. My mum too…

dizzydizzydizzy · 21/12/2023 23:18

Yes. Was really rough on Sunday and Monday. It seemed to get better and now I'm really bad again.

BlanketSky · 21/12/2023 23:29

I've also got covid, DH and DS too. DD testing negative but has symptoms.

AndThatWasNY · 21/12/2023 23:31

Poor everyone that has
Currently no. Though keep expecting one.

auburnglow788 · 21/12/2023 23:39

Yes. Sore throat, blocked nose, cough and temperature since last Thursday (14th). Only just stating to feel better.

Tr1skel1on · 21/12/2023 23:39

Yes!!! I have a total stinking cold that is turning into a sinus infection. I wouldn't mind but I've had covid twice this term, 5th and 6th infection felt better than this. The joys of working in a primary school

Did yours start to improve then get worse again. I started to feel better tues/weds but now feel like I did on day 2!! Google suggests A sinus infection.
Have you got antibiotics? Did you ring gp?

Why are people still testing for covid? (Genuinely interested in answers, no snarkiness intended at all).

I can understand if you have tests kicking about, I might do one out of curiosity. But buying them?

(Disclaimer that I understand if you're seeing/working with/living with vulnerable people)

CeriB82 · 22/12/2023 07:26

yes. But came and went quicker than expected. Thankfully!

I'm a nurse and visit care homes. I tested positive when due for a visit,

I suspect if I didn't do this job I'd test out if curiotsity if I had tests knocking around.

I tested this week because we have family coming for Xmas so I would want to let them know in advance in case they wanted to change their plans. Also, I just like to know.

HowDoYouFeel · 22/12/2023 10:54

Thanks @NerrSnerr and @BeadedBubbles

Andthereyougo · 22/12/2023 11:04

Had one for a couple of days, first cold I’ve had for years . Aching limbs but I’ve got fibromyalgia so that’s about par for the course.

JustFrustrated · 22/12/2023 11:07

For those with coughs, can I recommend

Robitussin cough suppressant. Only available via a pharmacy, but my god it works. Three doses in and it really makes a massive difference.

Though if you've a mucussy cough don't use the suppressant!

Ifyourfondofsanddunes · 22/12/2023 11:13

Yes since last week and then lost my smell so tested and it's COVID. It's day 8 and I still feel rough

slavetothekittens · 22/12/2023 12:27

Yes, had it about 5 days now, razor blade throat, runny nose, lost my vouce, coughing....throat is better, voice is coming back but the cough is exhausting.

just because i don’t want to spread it to others I’m feeling v poorly with it

Cocolapew · 22/12/2023 17:08

Turns out my vold is covid, I tested because I don't want to pass it on to my elderly mum.

2dogsandabudgie · 22/12/2023 18:02

Both me and my husband have covid, came on very quickly. He tested positive first and I was negative but then the next day I tested positive, so if anyone has a negative test it's worth doing another one the next day.

The reason we tested is to limit the spread, especially at this time of year. I think COVID cases are on the rise again and there are more hospital admissions which has a knock on effect on all of us.
