Looks like lots of go arounds. Would not like to be in a plane in this wind.
Manchester looks windy

Looks like that Air France plane is not going to Manchester now

Looks like THY9RB had a go, gave up, and is heading somewhere else now.

I hope it calms down before your flight @Gooseysgirl

cakeorwine · 21/12/2023 11:10

KAC113 is up next. From Kuwait to a blowy Manchester

Thunderpunt · 21/12/2023 11:11

I'm keeping track of a few, some bumpy rides up there today! I wonder if BigJet TV are filming anywhere, I'll see if I can find out on their FB page

I'm guessing diverting to Birmingham

They are live in Manchester on YouTube.

THY9RB is going into Brum with the Air France plane behind it.

Looks like it’s circling for a second try! Theres one from Rome first I think.

Notimeforidiots69 · 21/12/2023 11:31

I'm in Leeds, on the flight path, most flights have been cancelled, at LBA, it's been a quiet morning so far... Being on a plane in high winds isn't fun at all! Oh! Sods Law, I can hear one now, even though it's still blowing a gale!

Allthegoodnamestakken · 21/12/2023 11:37

I am set to land into Manchester tomorrow morning, praying its calmed down. My first Christmas at home in 5 years!

Redshoeblueshoe · 21/12/2023 11:38

I'm in Manchester too. The wind is absolutely horrendous.

CheesyChipsOnWembleyWay · 21/12/2023 11:42

It's proper windy in Manchester, wouldn't fancy landing in this. Pilots have incredible skills. Looks like UAE34Y is circling above Macc at the moment

For info current Manchester airport forecast for the AM still has a decent wind out of the northwest with some strong gusts but not on the scale they have had today.

Hope all works out OK for you.

Chersfrozenface · 21/12/2023 11:46

A Ryanair - actually Malta Air RYR629A has just managed to land.

The wind at Manchester is gusting and looks to often above typical crosswind limits, often below.. whether a flight lands or not is as much as anything down to timing.

As for Birmingham - the runway there is aligned northwest-southeast so is a better option in the winds today.

Would someone post a link to the site please? 🛬

Looking at the Manchester arrivals board on Flight Radar, only 3 flights have been diverted, others have bern landing, albeit with delays

As you say, timing.
