Woke up up with bite mark - bat?

Hello

Sorry in advance if this is the wrong thread for such a post. A few nights ago I woke up in the middle of the night and thought I saw something small (but larger than an insect) briefly fly slowly in our bedroom. I should say I had just come back from a work xmas party so was a little more than tipsy so dismissed it as nothing and the bedroom windows were shut. A few days later I've noticed what to me looks very much like a small bite mark on my finger (two pin prick dots) - someone jokingly mentioned it could of been Bat - but this has got me very concerned (because of rabies). Has anyone got any advice what to do if I should book an urgent GP appointment to get it checked (or even go to A&E?) to see if I need vaccines as bats can carry rabies. Currently very anxious, as I was drunk so may not of noticed getting bitten, so any advice would be really appreciated? I know rabies is exceptionally rare in bats and I cant say what I saw was a bat but the thought of it incredibly scary.

Do you have a photo? Two bite marks could be a spider bite.

I think you would know if there was a bat living in your room. Bats in the UK tend to eat insects.

Unlikely I be a bay. We have lots of bats here and you know if one is in the house as they are very vocal. They are dear little creatures.

The note marks sound like they are from a spider which quite frankly in my opinion is way more scary than a sweet little bat.

Very unlikely to be a bat. Probably a spider or not even a bite at all.

Most bats will be hibernating at this time of year.
Very few UK bats carry rabies.
If you are still concerned ring 111 and ask for their advice. It is more likely to be a spider, plus it is a few day between you thinking you saw a bat (unlikely)and discovering a bite, the two events may not be connected at all.

It is probably a spider bite. NHS says call 111 if you think you have been bitten by a bat.

It is extremely unlikely to be a bat if your windows were closed and you didn’t have a bat in your room the next day!

If it was a bat, most don’t carry rabies, which lowers the risk further.

But you really rabies post exposure treatment very quickly after possible exposure, within 24hrs ideally. So if you really think it is a possibility (though from what you have said it doesn’t seem like it) you need to get treatment ASAP.

@NorthWorried91 you need to put a pic up! My hospital actually had a patient die from a bat bite a few years ago!!!!!! in scotland!

Bats don't fly slowly, and they don't attack humans while flying. You'd probably be the first every case of a bat bite in the UK by someone who wasn't actively handling bats. They're not vampires on the prowl!

Also, "Bat bites are not always obvious and do not tend to leave a mark, therefore they are often felt not seen."

Do upload a photo. 2 dots sounds like a spider bite. Nothing to worry about if you're in the UK.

Try some garlic - how do you feel? Can you look at crucifixes?

Take a look at your ears. Are they really big, pointy and hairy? If so, book a GP appointment.

If you can't see your ears because there's no reflection of you in the mirror, ring 111 for more urgent advice.

Looks like they're about 1cm or 1/2 inch apart? That's far too big for any spider or bat in the UK. Likely to just be a random drunk injury. Especially if it's on your finger.

@Agapornis its around 0.6cm apart! No myself idea what a bat bite should look like or spider!
