CF Neighbours and their BLOODY PARCELS

Now i try to be a decent neighbour and take in parcels for people but my neighbours constantly take the piss.

If theyve taken one in for me, as long as its not past 8pm, you nip over and grab it as soon as you can right? Not them. They do not come and get them for days, if at all, until it gets to the point we get cheesed off with moving them around and take them round there ourselves. Theyre home, they just cant be arsed to get them.

I'll add aswell this has been going on for years and i swore off accepting anymore for them and have refused a few times.

But frazzled delivery driver knocked and asked if id take in some for them earlier and i looked at her pickled because theyre home (cars are there and have heard them in there all day) and she said yeah shes sure theyre home but have missed it 5 or 6 times already and would i mind.

I didnt have the heart to tell the postie no, but AIBU to let the dog eat their bloody parcels?

ill be lumbered with moving their parcels around for the next week because i refuse to be their personal postie and take it over there as well as parcel storage because they cant be arsed to open the door, my hallway was full last time and same scenario, both home and just didnt answer the door.

Tbh you've already been more than a brilliant neighbour,is be inclined to put them on their doorstep, pop a note through the door telling them there outside and no more taking in their parcels as its causing you unneeded stress.
Good luck.xx

If you have a garage put them in there and then as pp says return to sender

Why take them in in the first place? Say no thank you to the postman.

boong121 · 31/12/2023 14:07

Just say no sorry to the postman/delivery man.

Pinkyhere · 31/12/2023 14:35

Agree with all the pps who say to simply refuse in future -but what a shame people can't be considerate and behave with decency (not you, your lazy neighbours)

Macca333 · 31/12/2023 14:37

Just pop a note through the door saying you the parcel. That means they have to come to you. If they don't write on the parcel uncollected and return it to sender.

You do have a choice here, OP. It's not really OK to do something by choice then complain about it.

You need to tell the Postie/delivery person no next time, no matter how 'frazzled' they look. It's not YOUR problem, stop making it so.

As far as the parcels you have (if you still do), I'd have put them on their doorstep days ago and taken a photo to show that I did. End of.

I don't think this is about being a 'good neighbour' at this point. It's about choosing not to be a mug for some CFs.

Put them outside their front door, push a note through the door to say they're there and not your problem.

And say no next time.

Whats stopping you from dumping them on their doorstep?

Grow a backbone and refuse any going forward.

I would do exactly this,,

Kezzer2202 · 31/12/2023 20:00

Or is it them trying to get their money back stating they haven't received the parcel. People are up to no good these days.

Bigsigh24 · 04/09/2024 22:47

Next time say they are left outside near your door, not your responsibility if they go missing! And yes agree the etiquette/ right thing to do is go and get it as soon as you are home (where possible) most deliveries generate an email to buyer saying where parcel is at x

gaininginsight · 04/09/2024 23:21

Let the dog quite frankly and say oops it was accident then explain to the delivery driver next time you can't take anymore because of the incident. Problem solved. I don't mind taking parcels for next door neighbours I know and who collect on time but also some delivery drivers (not Royal Mail) really take the piss and once I was asked to take a parcel for someone who lived 10 doors away. Who knows what could be in that parcel!

!!!! ZOMBIE THREAD !!!!

FeebasAquarium · 06/09/2024 09:04
