Tempted to let kids stay home tomorrow

Kids finish school at 1.30 tomorrow. I leave home to take them at 7.30am. I get home around 9.30am... I then leave at 2pm to get them then home around 4.15. Tomorrow I would have to leave home at 12 to collect them so I would only have 2.5 hrs till I get them.

I have not been sleeping very well even though I'm tired I'm sleeping around 4 hours a night and keep waking up during that time. Worst night was 2 hrs sleep. And I feel ill but can't explain in what way . Maybe it's linked with tiredness

I was mean to you yesterday about moving the bed by the window and your negativity.
I understand that there’s a lot more going on and I apologise.
Please look after yourself, see a GP and change your name.

They had their class party's today . I know in past years they have used the left over party food and watched a dvd whilst eating.

You've clearly made up your mind then and didn't like what I said to you. 🤷‍♀️

Sorry that wasn’t to you! It was to someone saying I sound 12 and the children can have their 2 weeks off bla bla. If you read my previous comment OP I am all for them not going in tomorrow! They’re your children x

SaltyGod · 19/12/2023 21:36

We also have a very long school run (although driving) and I can empathise entirely.

Facts are that you are unwell, the kids are not bothered, and no real education is missed.

It sounds as if everyone would appreciate a relaxed morning in PJs rather than a cold and dark rush to a bus and then the return. I would 100% keep them home.

That's a bonkers commute for lower school, even if your older Dc went there. I'd explore closer schools - for the benefit of everyone.

It's a few hours, honestly you're making a massive deal out of it.

After tomorrow there's like 2 weeks off?

Not if it’s in Scotland, where they have gone back to school already before the rest of us have even started the holidays.

My children are not changing school. They are staying where they are. If this was a regular struggle I would get it. But its not . I have a child in the school who had sen/ehcp /autism. I'm not moving him and causing him massive upset no way .

YANBU lots of people don't send kids in for that last day. My son is going in for 2 1/2 hours tomorrow to watch a film and come home again. I wouldn't even contemplate taking him if the school wasn't ten minutes away.

Spa

Really?

Why not? It's a one off as a shorter school day than normal.

I'm probably not going to take them. But I will make my mind up properly tomorrow morning.

Just wanted to leave a message to let you know I’m thinking of you. Everything feels like shit when you’re tired. I get it 🌺
