So now I have cleaned house. I want to decorate my boys room. And add a few bits to make it feel nicer . I want the room to feel bright and happy. I don't want anything dark. I know they want a rug with rainbow colours so I can base it on that ? But looking for suggestions. All the walks atecwhitecat the moment

I'm.not sure what furniture to put in. Their clothes are not kept in the bedroom . So really it's just their toys.

They are age 7 and 8

How about continuing the weather theme? Pale blue walls with cloud decals for example.

Zevitevitchofcrimas · 18/12/2023 18:55

Get stick on decals...

Any theme to brighten up walls. For younger dc I always think woodland is nice.. Animals

I would go with to start

A rug
Bedside tables with lights
Toy storage
Something on the wall

Zevitevitchofcrimas · 18/12/2023 19:03

Add some shelves either some to wall or floating or free standing.

Zevitevitchofcrimas · 18/12/2023 19:03

Mirrors... Both sides of walls so room seems nugget

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 18/12/2023 19:04

Kallax unit on that wall? Bedside tables, night lights

Jessforless · 18/12/2023 19:04

I’d move the beds towards the middle of the room and have a bedside table between them, then use decals as others have suggested. The bed next to the window feels cold to me.

I think it I moved the beds to middle of the room that would mess up their play area

I think you need something between the beds on that wall. Depending on how they use the room and the dimensions, I’d go either for an IKEA toy storage solution like a 4x2 Kallax unit with some bright coloured boxes, or if they are starting to do homework and like crafts I’d maybe get them some desks - IKEA Alex come in lots of configurations to fit in two with/without drawers etc.
For decoration some framed posters would be less work to remove in future than the stick-on wallpaper and decals.

I would move the window bed to where the boxes and broom are, they will still have room to play put cubes under the window, shelving, rugs and wall posters. Maybe a Cork type board for their certificates.

I would move the bed away from the window for safety reasons.

I'd move the bed away from the window. It must make that bed quite cold in the winter.
