B&M? Homebase? Every garden centre? Charity shop?

BlueberryVelvet · 17/12/2023 12:41

Thank goodness, it’s horrible for the environment!

PlipPlopChoo · 17/12/2023 12:42

Back in the 1980s.

EbbandTheWanderingHearts · 17/12/2023 12:44

Lidl had some plus we have a pop up Christmas shop that sells it.

Didiplanthis · 17/12/2023 12:45

None or Hardly any in garden centers I've been to this year !

EbbandTheWanderingHearts · 17/12/2023 12:45

Loads on Amazon.

bakermummy21 · 17/12/2023 12:46

Just saw a small amount on sale in a garden centre but it's gone out of fashion the last few years

Enterthewolves · 17/12/2023 12:47

It’s plastic - so environmentally unsound and out of fashion

Garman · 17/12/2023 12:48

It’s not out of fashion at all. I’ve seen it in loads of shops, Tesco, Primark, places like Homesavers, (Dealz & Mr Price, I’m in Ireland).

And I buy once and keep it forever so am not worried about the environment with it.

Back in the 1980s.

I hope not. I bloody love tinsel. I'm already in mourning over those foil streamers that I can't find anywhere.

IsThePopeCatholic · 17/12/2023 12:51

It’s horrible stuff for the environment.

InefficientProcess · 17/12/2023 13:03

Sainsbury’s has red paper tinsel.

I love tinsel. I’ve had the same tinsel for 15 years now. I see no reason to not keep using it. Which is no worse for the environment than many things people do without thinking.

CoatOfArms · 17/12/2023 13:05

Left in the 1980s where it belongs.

Edited

Agreed, some of ours came from my parents house!

Lametta? It's the best

Back in the 1980s.

😆

With those shiny dangly monstrosities that people used to pin to their ceilings!

InefficientProcess · 17/12/2023 13:09

I think the issue is that it’s the 17th december. There was tinsel in the shops earlier in the month, but it’s been moved on to make space for other stuff they feel likely to sell more of now most people have their trees up. .

Wolvesart · 17/12/2023 13:10

I definitely saw some somewhere in a shop this week but can’t recall where. We have some but rarely put it up unless the real tree has a gappy bit. The local Italian restaurant has some in the window display, it looks new, so they must have found some

Rickenbackergoodgrief · 17/12/2023 13:11

My tinsel is years old. I put it back in the box with the rest of the decorations to reuse next year.
Nothing unfriendly towards the environment with my tinsel and lametta.
B&M etc are awash with tinsel here. Try there and Amazon etc.

EbbandTheWanderingHearts · 17/12/2023 13:11

Type "foil streamers Christmas" into Amazon. 👌 @hugohumbug

Second that!

Devilsmommy · 17/12/2023 13:17

My Tesco still has loads but you are right that it's nowhere near as easy to get as it used to be

Theraffarian · 17/12/2023 13:18

Definitely saw some in b & q last week , but they had already sold most of their Christmas stuff off , so limited colours . Absolutely love the shiny stuff , and yes it may be plastic but it is stored away with all the other Christmas decorations and a few strips make their way out each year . I’m sure some of it is about 30 years old now . Would rather see a tinsel wrap around than another oversized red and white candy cane lane decoration, luckily we all have different tastes .

Undineimmor · 17/12/2023 13:25

Tinsel lasts years though. Unlike the poastic packagng on every single item everywhere, all the time. 🤷‍♀️

It’s just the anti-tinsel snobs who feel claiming it’s purely an environmental objection gives them the moral high ground.

Tinsel is a thing you buy once a decade at most. 🤣
