A pre-festivities sharpener of Mornington Crescent?

Unfortunately I was absent for the thrilling climax to the game yesterday, and offer belated congratulations to LlynTegid. It's not often you see that move deployed with such laser-like accuracy.
A last hurrah before we all disperse for our traditional mid-winter break? (I'm for the Canaries this year with the curate and his new-ish special friend, a dear young man).
I'll start us off with a good invigorating Hudson's Cast: Goodge Street.

That takes me very easily to Hainault(where I believe the Archbishop led a party of Ramblers astray)

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 19/04/2024 10:20

Oh, ding doooong! Now it has to be

Theydon Bois

MarkWithaC · 19/04/2024 15:05

He did indeed, Hazel. I'm not quite sure if a superinjunction is involved, so I shan't say any more.

Aldgate, demi-laterally.

Rambling around Hainault can be fraught with difficulties I agree.

Temple.

HazelBite · 19/04/2024 18:52

@LlynTegid a good move but the station is not open 7 days a week so I think a lateral transverse to Embankment is called for!

LlynTegid · 22/04/2024 21:01

Before any rail replacement buses are invoked, a move to Gloucester Road.

DuckonaBike · 23/04/2024 19:51

LLyn that was a narrow escape! Let’s head to the safety of North Acton.

And talking of narrow escapes, has anyone actually seen the Archbishop recently?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 23/04/2024 22:10

Last I heard, the Archbishop was taking a sabbatical. According to the rumour circulating at my club, it’s to wait until the brouhaha has died down surrounding her playing a transverse on the Metropolitan line in the tournament’s opening round, but of course I don’t give credence to rumours.

Holborn

LlynTegid · 24/04/2024 07:25

The Archbishop and many other players of the game of games would applaud the move just made.

Using the closed stations rule, a move to Brompton Road.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 24/04/2024 11:56

Thank you kindly, Llyn.

Kensington High Street

MarkWithaC · 24/04/2024 15:43

I've missed some virtuoso play, I see! Sorry for my absence. It's been a bit fraught round the village since that little contretemps with the fete organisers about the tombola and the visiting deacon, and a number of extraordinary general meetings have been required. Waters seem calmer now, although Sir and Lady H-P are still not happy with the decision and are making it known repeatedly

Anyway!
Maida Vale. Seeing as no one else has yet taken up the tempting opportunity offered by that North Acton move.

HazelBite · 24/04/2024 15:59

This is getting very tricky and I've been mulling over this move but I'm going with Belsize Park

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 24/04/2024 23:00

You know what? It’s now or never. On a downward Windlesham:

Mornington Crescent

MarkWithaC · 25/04/2024 09:41

Oh, well played, Maud!

I was wondering if there was a way to get round the Partial that the last few moves had created. I completely forgot about the Windlesham option. Excellent play. Congratulations. 👏

Your turn to start us off again. We may need a new thread.

OP posts:
LlynTegid · 26/04/2024 08:46

Congratulations to Maud.

I thought the move to Brompton Road would have stopped that had not realised the rail replacement bus rule could be used on weekdays to get to the Northern line.

HazelBite · 26/04/2024 15:15

Well one of us must start up a new game so I think a good kick off would be Barbican

LlynTegid · 26/04/2024 15:17

Farringdon, one of the shortest moves that can be made.

MarkWithaC · 26/04/2024 17:02

Thank you, Hazel, and Llyn, that is a deceptively clever response, for which I salute you.

Acton Central. I know, it's early, and the Barbican move means eights are in play, but I have faith.

OP posts:
DuckonaBike · 28/04/2024 17:11

Congratulations Maud on the win!

And congratulations to Mark for a move that has stumped everyone for a couple of days! After thorough research and a perusal of the relevant Appendix (good point about eights being in play) I’m going to take advantage of the recent full moon and play a Shillingsworth to Ravenscourt Park, which I think will open up all sorts of opportunities.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 28/04/2024 19:57

It appears you started without me!

Penge West

HazelBite · 29/04/2024 09:49

I've been thinking for some hours now for a suitable move after Penge West following the "Shillingsworth" has given only a few options to follow, however, I am boldly going to go with Blackhorse Road

LlynTegid · 29/04/2024 10:11

The Gospel Oak to Barking line on London Overground comes to the rescue, so via Barking a move to Upney.

Penge West on a Sunday is a first I can recall, though I was not present at the tournament just before the 2012 Olympics, which disgracefully did not have official recognition as part of the Cultural Olympiad.

MarkWithaC · 29/04/2024 15:00

Thank you, Duck; sometimes it pays to be bold. Although I've learned the hard way that some people <<cough the butcher's delivery man>> take that as rather more of an invitation than one ever meant.

Llyn, I don't recall whether Penge West Sunday was in evidence in 2012 (I was present in body, but somewhat... altered due to medication for a fairly unpleasant malady).
I do have it on good authority, though, that cultural recognition was on the cards until the Brigadier unfortunately made his favourite joke – the one about the Englishman, the Irishman, the Scotsman and the juggler at the Moulin Rouge – and somewhat tripped up all preceding diplomatic efforts.

Right.

Kilburn (with a Lisburn Left Side).

OP posts:
DuckonaBike · 01/05/2024 22:04

Indeed it sometimes does, Mark. And yet sometimes discretion is the better part of valour, as I believe the butcher’s delivery man said afterwards. Not that I believe everything I hear.

Bayswater

LlynTegid · 02/05/2024 07:39

The walking interchange rule takes me to Queensway.
