A pre-festivities sharpener of Mornington Crescent?

Unfortunately I was absent for the thrilling climax to the game yesterday, and offer belated congratulations to LlynTegid. It's not often you see that move deployed with such laser-like accuracy.
A last hurrah before we all disperse for our traditional mid-winter break? (I'm for the Canaries this year with the curate and his new-ish special friend, a dear young man).
I'll start us off with a good invigorating Hudson's Cast: Goodge Street.

Llyn, quite the contrary; a United and Amalgamated final conference is to take place very soon, I believe in Lyme Regis. Rules will be nailed down. All will be entirely orthodox.
Of course, there will be (already are) dissenters, but they're likely to be those same voices who still believe that the Northern Line got above itself in 1988, and so likely to remain very much a minority fringe element ('fringe' being the operative word now I recall that protest streak stunt at the 1998 convention in Manningtree).

Maud, the Dowager Duchess was kind enough to make me a gift of one of those for one of my trips to Buenos Aires back in the heady days of my tenure as Latin America Special Rapporteur, Particular Topic 'whither the Hammersmith & City?'. Suffice it to say I don't think even that lively city's tango bars quite knew what had hit them.

But these days one must restrict oneself to gentle turns around the map of maps. So I shall amble forth to Royal Victoria.

Hmm. I’m not convinced, but let’s go with

Rotherhithe

HazelBite · 19/02/2024 09:34

After much thought I think all I can come up with is Southwark

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 19/02/2024 12:50

Don’t be so modest, HazelBite. That’s inspired. It’s opened up some intriguing possibilities, of which one is

Tooting Broadway

MarkWithaC · 19/02/2024 19:32

Inspired indeed, Hazel. As is your response, Maud, I must say. I remember the Archbishop outlining that tricky transverse in 2013 (I think – it was a Lytham St Anne's year anyway). I found it hard to visualise, but now it's played I do see it.

Humbly, given the standard here, I submit Dagenham East (using a twisted half-ounce, obviously).

Wow, some dazzling play today. I do hope the Lyme Regis conclave passes off peacefully. Do you remember the shenanigans when they opened the Docklands Light Railway? I don’t think the Rear Admiral ever got over it, which may be why we haven’t seen him recently.

I’ll try to keep the standard up with a Bartle’s Bounce to East India

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 19/02/2024 22:38

The Rear Admiral recently left for what she described as a short break in a rather nice pension in Antibes, but I observed that she’d taken with her 25 trunks of luggage, four whole Stiltons and the winner of the BAFTA, so I doubt we’ll be seeing her for a while.

Woolwich Arsenal

MarkWithaC · 20/02/2024 15:43

The Fotheringtons' village hairdresser has some stories about the Baftas. You just need to invite her out for a few gin and oranges.

A Bartle's Bounce with those margins on the H&C! Audacious. I applaud you.

Fairlop for me, giving up my Turnberry obviously but I think it will pay off.

Good afternoon all! I have been hors de combat, dealing with a small local matter on behalf of - well I can't say but the initials HMKCIII might mean something to some of you.

His grandmother was a keen player, I'll never forget her dazzling display of a vented funicular on the (wildly appropriate) Jubilee line...

Caledonian Road & Barnesbury

MarkWithaC · 22/02/2024 16:02

Ha! Indeed they do, Muse. I trust the rather more great matter in that general area, involving the understudy and the next diocese's rector, is now satisfactorily resolved?

Epping.
Yes, there's a theme. I'm mindful of the prevailing conditions vis a vis hand turns on the Victoria.

TragicMuse · 22/02/2024 19:01

Mum's the word... Wink

HazelBite · 22/02/2024 19:17

I've been considering my next move for a while now, all the permutations keep going through my mind but I feel my best shot is Seven Sisters

MarkWithaC · 23/02/2024 10:28

Oh, I say. Very elegant.

A reversed half-Nixon to Alperton.

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 23/02/2024 21:46

Hmm.

North Acton

DuckonaBike · 24/02/2024 20:18

Ooh, some interesting opportunities here.

I’m going to venture a half loop to Marylebone __

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/02/2024 09:24

Outrageous!

Dollis Hill

HazelBite · 25/02/2024 14:16

Aha, I'm going out on a limb here (quite literally) Chalfont and Latimer!

MarkWithaC · 26/02/2024 11:09

Plaistow with a running Ohm.

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 26/02/2024 11:43

Really? Well at least it opens up a diagonal blazon to

Hyde Park Corner

MarkWithaC · 26/02/2024 13:18

Yes! It was a favourite of the village greengrocer, an excellent player, and his… flamboyant wife. I learned a lot from them. Until, of course, they stopped being invited to tournaments because of that business with the wife, the choirmaster and the spring bedding plants.

Barbican.

OP posts:
LlynTegid · 27/02/2024 21:31

Spring I hope is not too far away. So I move to be near to a green space at Regent's Park

MarkWithaC · 28/02/2024 09:47

OK.

Queens Road Peckham (anti-cyclonic).

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 28/02/2024 10:06

Tally Ho!

Balham

MarkWithaC · 28/02/2024 10:36

Oh I say, nice, Maud!

Now, I've been longing to try this one (the under-secretary of the Club showed it to me once) but haven't yet had the chance, but that Balham trick I think makes it viable...
Heron Quays

OP posts:
HazelBite · 28/02/2024 13:58

Oh Marc I'm not having that! It's a bit outre.
Let's get back on track, I would suggest Goldhawk Road
