A pre-festivities sharpener of Mornington Crescent?

Unfortunately I was absent for the thrilling climax to the game yesterday, and offer belated congratulations to LlynTegid. It's not often you see that move deployed with such laser-like accuracy.
A last hurrah before we all disperse for our traditional mid-winter break? (I'm for the Canaries this year with the curate and his new-ish special friend, a dear young man).
I'll start us off with a good invigorating Hudson's Cast: Goodge Street.

Well if we are going back to basics I feel I have to go with Watford

MarkWithaC · 06/02/2024 15:22

Ah, I thought somebody might.
Are there too many supermassive back-bins in play for me to say Hanger Lane? I think we're OK. <<crosses fingers>>

I think Greenford is a good next move. Not sure if it is the station with the lift that goes up at 45 degrees.

DuckonaBike · 06/02/2024 20:57

Goodness, I’ve missed a lot. Went away for a quiet weekend in the country but things got a bit out of hand. Still, the vicar was very gracious about the damage and I’m home now and just need to work out what to do with the ostrich.

That’s a wise move, Llyn, and should calm things down. I’m risking a Bishop’s Twist to Royal Oak

HazelBite · 06/02/2024 21:34

Aha I can now play a reverse scoot to Park Royal

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 06/02/2024 22:02

By the way, DuckonaBike, the director of the zoo rang earlier to ask when you were planning to return the aardvark.

After a few bumpy moves, we seem now to be on a more even keel, so let’s move to

Holborn

LlynTegid · 07/02/2024 07:18

If there was an Aardvark Lane (or Street) station, it would be remembered as first in the alphabet, just as for those who play the imposter game based in Berlin like to move to the last station, Zoologischer Garten. I cannot imagine the man who funded many of the Underground lines including the one that goes via a certain station north of Euston would have done this.

South Woodford

MarkWithaC · 07/02/2024 09:47

The last time I heard from the zoo director was when he rang to put his side of the story after that contretemps regarding the pangolin, the catering manager and the feed store.
I felt sorry for the pangolin.

Uxbridge

We’re evidently not talking about the same zoo director. The one seeking the return of the borrowed aardvark is very much a lady, as anyone who remembers her cabaret turn at the Christmas tournament will remember forever.

Seven Sisters

MarkWithaC · 08/02/2024 12:03

Ah, yes, I see my mistake. The director I mean is a delight, and certainly a man (ask the zoo landscaper).
I was at that tournament but had to leave before the cabaret; I had to escort Mrs Effington-Bulph home after she became a little carried away with the selection of refreshments on offer. I shall never be able to look a bottle of creme de menthe in the face again.

Hounslow West (using a subtracted ohm).

To avoid having to play the rail replacement bus rule over the weekend, hastening back to Turnham Green.

DuckonaBike · 09/02/2024 07:41

I deny all knowledge of the aardvark, and indeed of the zoo director.

Monument

TragicMuse · 09/02/2024 11:31

To paraphrase the Bard, "is that an aardvark which I see before me?"...

The weather has revealed a serious shortcoming in my umbrella and I must away to James Smith & Son for a replacement.

Therefore...Tottenham Court Road.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/02/2024 12:01

Let us take a minor lateral to the place where, in the words of the song so beloved of both the Archbishop and the dowager duchess, life begins:

Oxford Circus

MarkWithaC · 09/02/2024 14:56

A glorious establishment, Muse, and one I'd love to frequent. Sadly my umbrella budget runs only to those tiny £10 affairs one finds in branches of Boots at slightly dingy stations. But a person can dream.

Speaking of which, a move that I often fantasise about, but which until that masterful deployment of the UpDuster by Maud (thank you and congratulations, *Maud) I had thought beyond our reach in this round at least:

Wapping

London Overground rule on a Friday. Will use it a second time to get to Canada Water, and then to Bermondsey via the Jubilee line.

I have never to my knowledge met a zoo director.

HazelBite · 10/02/2024 01:28

It's all going a bit "south" here so, also using the Jubilee line I'm going to interject with Neasden

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/02/2024 14:19

Yikes! That’s so far north it’s almost in Scotland.

Tufnell Park

DuckonaBike · 10/02/2024 20:16

This is a bit of a risky one, but I’m going to try a Headley’s Contraption. Happy memories of using this successfully at the European semi-finals in Stockholm in 1989. It was unseasonably warm and I have vague recollections of skinny dipping at the after party, which may be why I have a soft spot for this particular move.

Harringay Green Lanes

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/02/2024 22:48

In some regards, use of Headleys Contraption in February and skinny-dipping in Stockholm are rather alike - technically demanding, only for the brave (or sozzled), and liable to lead to hypothermia, arrest or both.

Wood Green

LlynTegid · 11/02/2024 07:35

Some rules are complicated and indeed the 1934 convention seemed to be the starting point for many of them.

Oakwood.

HazelBite · 11/02/2024 09:54

Oh dear, at this juncture I see no alternative (and as a Tottenham lass this really hurts) but I have to go with Arsenal

TragicMuse · 11/02/2024 12:09

Oh @HazelBite I can feel that from here, in the Fine City!

Let me soothe you with a swift step to Warren Street.

(Obvs I'm employing a Bishop's Confidential to make that move. It's a Sunday though so I am reassured it's valid, nay, necessary!)

MarkWithaC · 12/02/2024 09:10

Duck, I didn't go to Stockholm (there was some confusion over my passport at the time, a lot of nonsense obviously) but I did hear about the skinny-dipping. I believe there are even some photos; I don't know who holds them, although the Rt. Hon. Humphrey (my Stockholm 'contact', as it were) tends to change the subject if it arises.

Hmm. Having mulled it over, I think my best option here is a Pendleton to
