Anybody not going out tonight?

Or indeed this week?!

Feeling like a complete loner at this point! I had 3 Christmas events & they were all weeks ago!

Seems like everyone else has lots more days/nights out lined up, while I'll be staying in again watching TV! Working all day tomorrow & expecting it to be very quiet too (public facing, not retail but similar). Even the DC have more planned than I do!

DS1's birthday on Sunday so the last of this month's money is going on that, then I get paid on Tuesday & need to get Christmas presents in that day as DC break up on Wednesday & I won't be able to go shopping without them after that.

I keep telling myself we're lucky that we can afford to pay our bills & buy presents, but it feels particularly tough this year. DH is probably depressed too, which I am finding hard to handle.

Me. Been ill for weeks and missed every single Christmas thing planned and my Birthday weekend away. Given up now and sitting on the sofa with dd whilst all my pals
Meet up at a bar. Fed up.

LubaLuca · 15/12/2023 18:16

Nope, but my son's gone out in the (small, relatively safe) city for his big Christmas night out, so I'll be on pins until I hear him come in.

We went out for drinks in Manchester last night after a work event, and that's it for me now. I was home by 10pm, just how I like it, but I still felt rough this morning. It's only family things now until Christmas so no excitement and minimal hangovers.

don’t you have plans with husband and children? that’s what most with children tend to focus on. Certainly my plans at this time of year largely involve my children… aside from one dinner, one drinks and work event.

No real plans. I have to work most days except Sunday, Monday & Tuesday & they are at school except for Sunday. It is DS1'S birthday so he is going out with friends, which is taking up the last of our money.

I'm sorry you strike me as immature considering you have children. Who cares if you don't have anything planned tonight? I find this odd.

@Allthescreens can you plan a few things with your own family?

Festive movie night
Drive around the Christmas lights
Baking
Walk and hot chocolate etc?

For next year could you get tickets to the panto or a concert etc as a birthday gift? Plan and host a family night for your siblings and other half’s?

If a friend messaged me now I would be too busy to see them before Christmas- a mix of needing time to shop, wrap gifts, prep house for guests, collect packages etc as well as social plans I made quite some time ago.

ForlTonightlGodlIslalDJ · 15/12/2023 18:26

You've already had 3 Christmas events weeks ago so presumably in November for some reason so you've been to stuff it's just unfortunate that it was early! Turn it into a positive at least you will have more time to shop/plan/cook things for Xmas.

Doggymummar · 15/12/2023 18:26

I've been to a Xmas do every day this week including a drag act at 7.30am, it was fabulous but weekends are for family. I have three next week and then it's hibernation time till 9th Jan.

sprigatito · 15/12/2023 18:27

I'm not going out tonight and am very pleased about it, am far too old and misanthropic to enjoy town on a Friday night. I am having unexpected Christmas drinks with an old friend tomorrow though which I am very excited about. It involves a lovely 4 mile walk along the river and a country pub which is much more to my liking.

Was there really any need? Merry bloody Christmas Xmas Hmm

Marmite27 · 15/12/2023 18:32

I’ve had a (free) Christmas dinner in the office with my team, and am having my group of friends round next week for craft and nibbles. One of us has just had a baby so no big night out for us this year.

I also have a school Christmas disco to help run (PTA) next week, and our Rainbows Christmas party too.

I’ve had to help organise them all to have something social to do!

Kimten · 15/12/2023 18:34

I'm not going out.
We had a work drinks thing at a hotel but I didn't go - didn't fancy it at all, everyone gets into their own little clique and it was at a distance from where I live.
No other nights out planned over the Xmas and NY period at all.
However - I am going on holidays to Egypt in late December.

when do your children break up?! all broke up today around kent

BeansOnToast32 · 15/12/2023 18:42

I've got absolutely no plans to do anything with anyone. I love being at home in general but it's even better in the run up to Christmas! Just me DP and DDog, I've got loads of recorded series' I've stored up to watch over Christmas plus we'll watch some Christmas films, there's plenty of snacks in.

All cards and gifts have already been handed over so all we need to do now is do the food shop, go on dog walks, and relax.

MrsDilligaf · 15/12/2023 18:43

No plans here to go out, and as I've got my pyjamas, nothing will tempt me out.

Make plans with your family, enjoy the time you have with them and make memories with them.

notahappybunny7 · 15/12/2023 18:45

No I’m staying home, no parties planned or nights out and that is ok with me!! Lots planned with my daughter(will be out tomorrow and sat, plus next weekend, Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve meal(daytime)
but I’d rather shit in my hands and clap than negotiate pubs, bars etc. Those days are gone and luckily my close friends are as boring as I am!!

@Allthescreens I'm not going out tonight or any other night. No particular desire to leave my nice open fire. My student children are all at home, but are all going out most nights. I have more desire to see friends in the day than at night - especially at this time of year, when I hate it being cold and dark and am not a "hot choc" type person.

MeinKraft · 15/12/2023 18:58

I have nothing planned and I am extremely delighted about that!

Sunsept · 15/12/2023 19:00

I’m about to go out for my husband’s work meal and tbh I’d rather stay at home, put my pjs on and do nothing!

FrancisSeaton · 15/12/2023 19:01

Not going out at all this December it's been really tight money wise and don't get paid until after Christmas this year

Waitingfordoggo · 15/12/2023 19:03

I’m not going on any evenings out and nor have I for ages- but I am VERY happy with that because I don’t like evenings out.

I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling low and that your DH is depressed too. Tough times 💐

Comedycook · 15/12/2023 19:06

I've got nothing planned...I'm a sahm so no work Christmas do...I have a group of good friends who I saw a couple of weeks ago so I don't think I'll be seeing them before Christmas now. I'm not a huge fan of going out at this time of year anyway...too cold and dark
