Brussels Sprouts

Is my kid an anomaly?
They had Christmas dinner at school yesterday, and DC told me on the way home - “Everyone gave me their Brussels sprouts because they don’t like them!”

Does your DC(s) like them?
Do you like them?!

I love them! DP hates them 🤣

I doubt my LO will even touch them. I'll try her with them this year but I doubt it lol 😂

Frostythereindeer · 14/12/2023 06:37

My 10yo and 4yo love them.

greenacrylicpaint · 14/12/2023 06:41

like them here.
but never cooked to mush.

one dc only likes them raw (they taste really firey, mustardy) though.

NorthernLiner · 14/12/2023 06:44

Meant to add we are all fans here!
DC also loves broccoli, but isn’t a fan of cooked carrots but will devour them raw 🤷🏻‍♀️

My youngst now 10 yo loves them and has done all her life. The oldest two not so much.

NotFastButFurious · 14/12/2023 07:00

I’ve always liked them. I’m also the one who eats everyone’s sprouts!

AdaColeman · 14/12/2023 07:04

I love them!

Tiggles · 14/12/2023 07:06

Liking sprouts is genetic. A particular gene makes them taste different in some way.

Me and my kids have always loved them.

HardcoreLadyType · 14/12/2023 07:06

I hate them. DH loves them.

I am not a fussy eater at all - Brussels sprouts are one of the very few things I really dislike. Although I’m also not keen on parsnips.

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 14/12/2023 07:19

Two of mine love them, (19 &10) one is ambivalent (21)and the other three have one in their plate for decoration on Christmas Day 😂. (16,22,24)
I love them however they're cooked and I have a special fondness for the overcooked squishy ones my Nan used to do.

crankyhousewife · 14/12/2023 07:24

I've got one of the worlds fussiest eaters (she'll only eat four meals) yet she loves her Brussels sprouts. Most odd.

DinkyDonkey2018 · 14/12/2023 07:25

Mine 5yo will eat them year round - annoyingly it's the only part of a roast dinner they'll actually eat (we question where she came from sometimes!)

Clutterbugsmum · 14/12/2023 07:28

My girls like brussels in fact ask for them often when they see them in the shop.

On the other hand my son doesn't eat green 😂. Although I have found if I cook peas, cabbage with onion and bacon he will at least tolerate them on his plate.

QueSyrahSyrah · 14/12/2023 07:28

Love them, and I think more people would if they didn't associate them with being boiled to mush for Christmas dinner once a year.

Steamed so they still have some crunch, or shredded and sautéed, delicious.

pizzaHeart · 14/12/2023 07:29

We all are ok with them but prefer broccoli.

ithinkthatmaybeimdreaming · 14/12/2023 07:35

I like them, and always have done.

childrensward · 14/12/2023 07:37

I love them, dh and ds(5) hate them. Dd (20 month) loves them

CalistoNoSolo · 14/12/2023 07:42

Dd has always eaten everything and anything. Sprouts are delicious but have to be cooked properly, like any veg.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 14/12/2023 07:47

I love them, my 15 year old loves them and has done since he was 3, used to take cold cooked Brussels sprouts to bed with him to eat, now air fries them as an after school snack, I also love them, other DC is weird and doesn’t

YABU for not liking parsnips - they’re the best part of a roast dinner.

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 14/12/2023 07:58

My ds loves them! So do I, I'd eat a bowl on their own with gravy😂

PrincessHoneysuckle · 14/12/2023 08:00

Ds 10 has always loved them

Tistheseason23 · 14/12/2023 08:02

I love them but rarely cook them as dc don’t like them. I prefer them soft to crunchy.
