Anyone had a similar situation?

I'm waiting for a phone to be delivered by DPD this evening. It's 2 hours late. The tracking has stopped showing and it's just saying it's delayed but on it's way.

I'm so worried. The phone was expensive and my old phone is broken so I'm currently without a phone.

Anyone had a similar experience? Did it show up?

This happened to me yesterday with a phone AND last year with an X-Box

Last year, it gave me a time that came and went and then just said it was delayed.
I got a text the next morning with another time that again came and went and went to the “delayed” message, on the third day it was delivered.

Yesterday the phone should have been delivered between 10am and 11am. I got a message at 12pm saying it was delayed but they hoped to deliver by 12.47pm. Got that message all day and it turned up at 8.30pm last night 🙄

hedgehoglurker · 13/12/2023 19:41

I'd only be worried if it said it was delivered. It's probable that there has been an issue like traffic or a broken down van, but they are aware and still hoping to deliver.

Swishswish26 · 13/12/2023 19:55

Happened to me the last two days with DHL- both different deliveries. Showed as being delivered between a certain timeframe which came and went and hours passed. By the following morning it had updated saying ‘sorry you didn’t get your delivery, it is out for delivery again today’
Delivery drivers are working flat out and there are not enough of them but fingers crossed you get your phone.

ArghDPD · 13/12/2023 20:59

Thanks all. It's reassuring to know that your parcels turned up.

It's so frustrating that once the delivery window was passed, it no longer showed how many parcels were in front of me.

I saw a dpd van pass my house earlier. I wonder if my phone was in there.

It never turned up. It's so insulting that it still displays a message saying it's "a little delayed."

I’ve had this, they said it was out for delivery so that the delivery slot promised was met! But the item was delayed and actually delivered 2 days later. My delivery fuck up today was , I had an expensive toiletries set delivered today from Amazon. It didn’t come packed in a box, some stupid person had just slapped an address label onto the actual box for delivery. So now I’ve got a really expensive present with an awful address label stuck on the front, can’t get it off , great. Good thinking Amazon person !

DPD package I requested to be left in my recycling bin at side of house. I arrived home at 6pm to see a soggy wet package containing a coat costing £150 on my doorstep it'd been there since 10.15.

OkayScooby · 13/12/2023 23:47

DPD have just delivered my package that was supposedly out for delivery on Friday!
Think they're a tad behind.

Deathbyfluffy · 13/12/2023 23:49

DPD are pretty awful - it’s probably caught up in the Christmas backlog.
To be fair we’re less than 2 weeks from Christmas, so delays are to be expected.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 14/12/2023 08:56

I had this with my bridesmaid dresses and I needed them that weekend for alterations. I was that desperate I offered to drive to the depot and get them but I couldn't because of Covid 🙄. This was in 2021. It was very stressful but they got delivered the next day

PsychoHotSauce · 14/12/2023 09:03

DPD delivered my new laptop in the summer. Tracking suddenly updated as delivered vut no sign of it and nothing on the ring doorbell. It did get triggered by a van driving straight past the house, and I found a photo of it plonked outside a house I didn't recognise.

After some panic, I decided to walk the direction it came from onto a completely different road with the photo in my hand checking for the right plant pots and pipes in the pic. Found the house but no parcelHmm

I knocked and luckily the neighbours did hand it over but my god that was a stressful moment. John Lewis wouldn't have replaced as I'd bought the last one!

I’m sorry but this one is down to you! When you check out, it tells you that the item is delivered in packaging which identifies what it is, i.e. just the box it comes in. And it asks you if you want Amazon packaging instead. If you tick Amazon packaging, they will put it inside a brown box. It’s a way of cutting down on cardboard use. It doesn’t matter if you’re buying a new strimmer or kettle etc, but for gifts, always check the Amazon packaging box.

Ladybird69 · 14/12/2023 12:21

@AlwaysForksAndMarbles wow well I never knew that! My parcels have always been delivered in packaging! I’m going to have a look right now. Cheers for that 😁

ClockHolly · 14/12/2023 12:26

@Ladybird69 have you tried to get the label off with a hairdryer?

Ladybird69 · 14/12/2023 13:07

@ClockHolly yeah and steam from kettle! But it’s stuck to the box and label so even if I do manage to get it off the pretty label is going to be damaged! I’m just gonna stick a nice card on the front and just apologise to the recipient. Thanks tho

Well my bloody phone has still not turned up 24 hours later. I'm furious.

CMOTDibbler · 14/12/2023 22:11

Today DPD just decided they couldn't be arsed to deliver my parcel and took it to the parcel shop instead. I know they didn't attempt delivery as no sign of them on the doorbell camera / front cctv. I'm cross

YorkieTheRabbit · 14/12/2023 22:31

My last DPD parcel was a day late, the previous one was 5! It kept being loaded on to a van, I’d get a delivery time slot, then the update of it’s running late. Eventually I’d get a message saying it was delayed and would be delivered the following day. Five days is a record for me.

hiredandsqueak · 14/12/2023 22:43

They delivered a gaming laptop to a random address. No idea why the name, road name ,house number and postcode were nothing like mine.Just had an email saying it had been delivered to my neighbour who wasn't even in the same village. I phoned and they sent the driver back to collect it and deliver it to me.

Nottogetapenny · 14/12/2023 22:46

Same thing happened to me last year (Christmas time). Saying my parcel was going to be delivered, then after the time they said it was going to be delivered they send a message to say delayed! This went on for 4 days! I eventually got my parcel (x-box) but I was worried I wouldn’t get it!

GrazingSheep · 14/12/2023 23:01

I was speaking to my lovely DPD delivery driver yesterday. She started work at 9am and didn’t expect to be finished until 10pm. Don’t think Christmas is her favourite time of the year!

ArghDPD · 15/12/2023 01:21

Amazon are now saying it might not arrive until the 19th. It should have arrived on the 13th. So much for next day delivery. I can't survive that long without a phone! I ordered a phone cover at the same time and that bloody turned up on time but not the actual fucking phone.

OP posts:
margotrose · 15/12/2023 06:49

Next day delivery isn't a guarantee of anything, unfortunately and at this time of year orders are often delayed.

I've bought a lot off Amazon recently and actually found stuff arrives just as fast without paying for next day.

ArghDPD · 15/12/2023 23:29

Well useless DPD have lost my parcel but failed to tell amazon. I'm furious.

I tried to call DPD on Thursday, I could not get through. I called Amazon and they said sit tight, it will turn up. This morning , the Amazon app was saying it will arrive by the 19th (which is ridiculous!).

But today, I finally hit through to DPD and they said it's been untraceable for 24 hours, so it definitely won't be delivered. Yet Amazon app is saying something different, it's still saying it will be delivered by the 19th.

I called Amazon and asked for a refund. They said I have to wait up to 48 hours for someone to call me back. They say they'll "take full responsibility".

So they've got £700 of my money and I'm without a working phone. It's such a bloody pain not having a working phone. I've put my SIM in an ancient one but it is barely even capable of making a call
