Weighing on this: The brand of HA is dependent individual Trusts and the deals their buyers can negotiate with the HA manufacturers; there's no blanket brand across the NHS. About 10 years ago my local Trust supplied me with Oticon HAs, which were fine. A few years later they were offering Phonak, which were hopeless for me, which I bit the bullet and went private. Hearing loss isn't the same for everyone; mine was caused by otosclerosis.

Also be aware NHS audiologists have a limited time available to set up the aids at the time of fitting.

My NHS audiologist spent over an hour with me setting it all up. I don’t know if that is good or bad though! I agree though that everyone’s needs are different.

Costco Air fryer £50 does the same as the ninja it replaced.

dupe Stanley cup £11 eBay - coffee stays hot for hours

aldi skin care dupes £3-8.50 it means getting up early when they arrive in store but amazing stuff!!

Counter clicker when grocery shopping £1 one click, It’s made me really think about what I’m buying as them number click up!

pink stuff miracle spray for dirt and grime
elbow grease yellow spray for grease
Both work wonders!!!

LED light mask £50 10 mins 4-5 times a week on red light therapy means Botox is only needed 1 time a year. I’ve had comments since using it ‘your looking so well’ ‘your skin looks so fresh’

Matrix hair protector £10 quick spray after washing and blow dry is so much smoother plus hair condition has improved dramatically!

budget planner £3 I make a conscious effort to update it every 2 weeks so I know what is being spent and where.

Which light mask do you have please?

I'd like to be a patient in your NHS @SgtBilko but that's not how it works elsewhere

RaininginDarling · 12/12/2023 23:24

Yes, to all this @DancingFerret - interesting you didn't get on with Phonak. I was originally going to opt for them (I have a Roger pen) but discovered they only make rechargeables now and I knew I didn't want that. Wasn't sure about Signia at first as they were really designed with Apple in mind, but so far, I'm really pleased with them.

Waterpik flosser- honestly it’s crazy what it removes, beats floss and the teepees all day long

waterpik was a lifesaver when I had braces!

DisruptiveCumin · 13/12/2023 07:47

Not an item, but I got a free program to edit videos and ended up absolutely loving it. Initially I needed to do a quick video edit for work purposes, so didn't really want to purchase a posh software and went with Clipify since it's a free one. Long story short, I'm a self-titled family videographer now as filming and doing video montages turned out to be fun 😂

Weleda Rosemary Revitalising Hair Tonic...cured my dandruff and hair is definitely thicker and fuller!

With this, it says to use it morning and night and don't rinse out.

How does that work? I mean, if you put it on after washing your hair do you then dry it, or put it on after drying?

If you put it on at night, would you do that even if you didn't intend to wash your hair the next day? I only wash mine every three days but I feel if I put this in at night it would look a mess in the morning so I could only do it on days I'm going to wash my hair anyway.

I don't have dandruff but for some reason over the past few months I have lost a lot of hair and have a lot of small scabs on my scalp.

A coverless duvet

Nannyfannybanny · 13/12/2023 10:55

Paper white flowers,I am just starting down the road. 4 years ago tinnitus and slight hearing loss left ear, September Covid first time ever! Very bad tinnitus and hearing loss right ear. Sudden,so was given 2 week appointment. Audiology said mild to moderate Hearing loss, awaiting now consultant, minimum 3 months wait. If someone is more than a mtr away not facing me, I cannot hear them, but the tinnitus is soooh loud. My cousin bought private HAs this year, then got NHS ones after just a GP letter referral to Specsavers. He says that they are far superior to the ones he paid thousands for. (Sorry poster) would like more details of your journey 👍

I only use in the morning when I wash my hair. I have curly hair..I only use shampoo once a week, rest of the time i use just conditioner. I massage onto scalp then I use a mousse and leave to dry naturally. It's totally non greasy....its has absolutely been a game changer for me..I am 55 and my skin is generally very dry nowadays. The weleda skin food moisturiser is also good.

@VanGoghsDog have you seen the GP? You might have a fungal infection

Abracadabra12345 · 13/12/2023 13:45

@Jimmychoo69
White Company have emailed me to say the mattress topper is back in stock but I'm hesitating because of the cost. I looked at a cheaper brand on Amazon but several reviews spoke of it making them hot. I'm assuming this hasn't been the case with you?

FlipFlop1987 · 13/12/2023 14:03

Loved my Ninja 7-in-1 so much I got the Max Grill too. It’s even better! I use it at least once every day.

Heat pad for my sore joints and muscles, WFH is cold and I ache sitting in the same position. It saved my life when breastfeeding and was sat uncomfortably. I use this every day too.

Robotic vacuum - I’m a little bit in the half way camp with this as it’s much better at hoovering than I expected, especially on hard floors and it does the corners and edges well. It also comes with an app so I set it off whilst out the house and can see on a map where it did. Downside is everything needs lifting off the floor and it can get stuck under beds and sofas which is annoying.

Jimmychoo69 · 13/12/2023 15:01

@Abracadabra12345 The White Company is due a sale soon, either just before Christmas or just after. I ordered some candles for Christmas presents on Monday and received my delivery today, so their delivery is very good at the moment. My White Company mattress topper has not made me anymore hot than I am usually, and I say this as a menopausal 53 year old 😁. Just keep your eye out for the sale.

LatteLady · 13/12/2023 15:19

OK, who amongst you will take the blame as I have to dash off calls to answer the door for all these essential goodies that keep arriving!

Thank you! Too late - I've ordered 😱. Our new mattress is like a rock but too late to change and it IS supportive, but not kind to my hip when I'm on my side. Reading reviews, this seems to be why many bought the mattress topper so 🤞🏻I promise I won't blame you if it doesn't work 😁

This is the most expensive thread I've ever been on 😁
I also bought the detangling brush recommended upthread for my dd

If you can afford it, I’d go with the one from the White Company, but wait until the January Sale, which will no doubt start on Christmas Eve 🤷‍♀️

Jimmychoo69 · 13/12/2023 17:55

@Abracadabra12345 hope you like it when it arrives, I would not be without my mattress topper now.

VanGoghsDog · 13/12/2023 18:09

You can use a duvet under the bottom sheet as a mattress topper. Instead of spending loads (though if you have overheating problems you won't want a cheap duvet) maybe try that first? Especially if, like me, you have (ahem) several spare duvets!

Oh! I haven't seen the GP (who has? For anything??) but I do have some anti fungal shampoo, which I hadn't thought of, so I'll give that a go first!

I bought some nail wraps after reading this thread. Just some cheapie ones from Amazon but am so Impressed so far. Will be interesting to see how long they last but after not being able to wear gels as I became allergic to them it's so nice to have my nails done again.

Cynderella · 13/12/2023 19:27

They look lovely. Are they the ones that need a lamp, and do you have a link, please?

Bingandbang · 13/12/2023 19:44

I bought an electric blanket from Aldi on Tuesday after reading this thread. It’s lovely. I wish I had it years ago!

also ordered a mattress topper arriving tomorrow

I’ve bought some nail wraps too, they arrived yesterday but I’ll wait until the weekend as my polish hasn’t chipped yet. I’m excited to try them, yours look fab.
