Interested to know about everything be it luxury or mundane
I was late to the game but now use my air fryer daily. I also love my earbuds.

De humidifier - it has got rid of unpleasant damp odours in my old cottage. I had been thinking about getting one for years....

Another vote for packing cubes, I travel several times a month and it makes it so easy, both packing and unpacking. Just stick them in the drawer at the other end and everything is in one place. Got a fairly cheap set of Amazon, they don’t compress clothes, but I can definitely fit a lot more in the suitcase using them.

A mini dishwasher which doesn't need to be plumbed in (tiny kitchen here!)

I am saving this message to remind myself to research later. This could be life changing.

Plug in heated throw
Several box sets
Some really sturdy black boots for walking

Forgot my hot tap - It was a cheapo version and I could not be without it !

Cynderella · 12/12/2023 16:47

Just search smart plugs, and then you can filter by brand, start rating etc. Ours are different brands, but they all talk to Alexa, so we can say, 'Alexa, goodnight' and all lamps are turned off downstairs, lamp upstairs is turned on and the TV and peripherals are all switched off.

We have Woox and Tapo - no real difference between then. I just went for cheapest with decent reviews. I also have dehumidifier and electric blanket plugged into them.

Saucymushroom · 12/12/2023 18:18

A cheap Wi-Fi printer for downstairs, no more having to run upstairs to put the pc on and the wired printer, wait for it all to boot up etc.

Nongatron · 12/12/2023 18:18

@Maighnuad oh please tell me more about your cheap hot tap 🙏🏻🙏🏻

AnotherOne4 · 12/12/2023 18:23

Are you in that University town in North Kildare by any chance? If so, I'm down the road from you 😉

The one I got is no longer in stock, but I got a coconut infused one from Oliver Bonas website. You can buy them pretty much anywhere

Fortyisthenewblack · 12/12/2023 20:04

I googled it because it was annoying me so much! They were about 7 quid for a mixed set on amazon. If you needed to check if something was on/charging I guess you'd probably see close up... its never been an issue for me.

pookie999 · 12/12/2023 21:03

I had microblading on eyebrows. No more pencil or brushing. Just lovely natural looking brows

A couple of years ago I bought a fat quarter of t shirt material, cut it in half and use these for my hair instead of a towel. I really like it.

Jewelanemone · 12/12/2023 22:18

Yes, packing cubes! Everything beautifully organised in your suitcase, makes unpacking and packing much easier. I buy cheap ones from Amazon and they've lasted ages.

ClemFandango1 · 12/12/2023 22:21

Detergent sheets - take up no space and so easy.

A spray bottle that makes electrolysed water (hypochlorous acid). I re-make it once per week and use it for dusting, disinfecting light switches, electronics, toys, and to clean the cat's food mat. Basically on anything I don't want a strongly scented spray on. It is more powerful than bleach but very safe.

@Paperwhiteflowers I don't recall saying NHS HAs didn't have Bluetooth?

Each HA brand has different sound qualities and so are going to be experienced differently depending on the hearing loss. There is no choice on which HAs you can access via NHS.

NHS hearing aids are only about 18mths behind private market, according to my AUD, but they are always mid range.
Also: you can only upgrade every three years. Try telling my ears that as my hearing as declined significantly, hence going private.

For my hearing loss, the Signias are noticeably better than my NHS Octicons - which is the brand you will get locally on NHS. HTH.🤷‍♀️

I did not find the packing cubes saved space - on the contrary, they took up more room because you are constrained to specific sizes instead of stuffing small items into odd corners.

however they were useful for organising clothes; all clean socks in 1, underwear in another, an outfit in a larger one etc. made it very easy to find clothes quickly.

Weighing on this: The brand of HA is dependent individual Trusts and the deals their buyers can negotiate with the HA manufacturers; there's no blanket brand across the NHS. About 10 years ago my local Trust supplied me with Oticon HAs, which were fine. A few years later they were offering Phonak, which were hopeless for me, which I bit the bullet and went private. Hearing loss isn't the same for everyone; mine was caused by otosclerosis.

Also be aware NHS audiologists have a limited time available to set up the aids at the time of fitting.

I had a choice.
