The Shawshank Redemption. Andy running towards Red on the beach

Scrooged. Bill Murray and his fantastic change of personality / speech and the shock it gives everyone

This Is England. Kelly enters Lol and Woody's wedding in slow motion

Friends. The six keyrings

Dirty Dancing. The look of pure pride and love on her Dad's face when he looks at her on stage in absolute amazement

Billy Elliot. Again... Dad's face in tears

Notting Hill. Indefinitely... ❤️

No one has yet mentioned My Girl. I haven't watched it for years but I always used to cry so hard at the ending.

Also what's the movie where the man sends the letters and sets it all up before he dies? Very emotional

lovinglaughingliving · 10/12/2023 02:36

This is us - The train, I weeped and weeped.

💔

Giggorata · 10/12/2023 02:57

The last episode of Lexx.
Cried like a baby and still do, whenever I rewatch it, which I do about once a year. (Please don't look for spoilers if you intend to watch it through all four series)

Also the Dr Who episode, Vincent and the Doctor, somewhere in Matt Smith's time. Buckets.

Catsmere · 10/12/2023 02:59

MA S H. The famous final episode.

(Though I cried more years earlier when Henry Blake was killed.)

snackprovidersupreme · 10/12/2023 03:25

Shadowlands
Remains of the Day

Both so good but can't rewatch either because I cry too much !

Dogsandbabies · 10/12/2023 05:13

Arrival. When you realise she had her daughter despite knowing she would die so young. Really affects me every time I watch it.

MenopauseSucks · 10/12/2023 05:14

Blackadder goes forth

Marley & Me

Warhorse - the book, the play & the film. When I saw it live, I've never so relieved to be using the theatre's opera glasses - hid a lot of tears. £1 well spent!

chapelhatpeg · 10/12/2023 05:28

A town like Alice and An affair to remember.

Gone With The Wind
After all, tomorrow is another day

NeverHadHaveHas · 10/12/2023 05:45

Watched Turner and Hooch with DD 13 the other weekend and she has never seen me cry so much. ‘What a good dog’ 😭😭

Wincarnis · 10/12/2023 05:55

Another vote for “a dog’s purpose”
another vote or two for “the bridges of Madison county”
out of Africa
The mist
million dollar baby

TheFireflies · 10/12/2023 07:49

A Monster Calls. Both the book and the movie. Almost unbearably sad.

Clawdy · 10/12/2023 08:29

The episode of Upstart Crow when Hamnet dies. Will and Anne sitting in silence by the fire, as the voice-over recites "Grief fills the room up of my absent child....."

SheerLucks · 10/12/2023 09:29

The last five minutes of Titanic is the only film that's made me cry uncontrollably (in a cinema with five male friends...).

When the elderly Rose gets into bed for the last time surrounded by photos she'd brought with her of all she'd achieved as a single woman since Jack died. Then she closes her eyes and slips away and we see her POV as the sunken ships comes to life and all the dead, including Jack, are waiting for her on the main stairs.

Just wow.

Planes, trains and automobiles.

Del (John Candy) sat at the train station on his own with nowhere to go, with Steve Martin's character, who having left the station to go back to his family realised Del had been talking about his (late) wife in the past tense, coming back for him.

"I don't have a home. Marie's been dead for eight years" 😭

Shadowlands always has me in floods of tears. So beautiful.

And Braveheart.

peachescariad · 10/12/2023 10:24

Final scene in Manchester by the Sea. Just thinking about it is making me well up.

Xmasfairy86 · 10/12/2023 14:21

Hachi - I cry all the way through this film 😢😢

Luckyboo · 10/12/2023 14:31

Cliffhanger with Sylvester Stallone. I've only ever watched it once but the scene where he's holding her hand and she's begging him not to let go and he does...got to me so much.

Also....
The Bridges of Madison County....her decision to stay for her family even though she was in love with another man was such a tough one

Love actually....when Emma Thompson excuses herself and cries at the realisation her husband is having an affair....so powerful

The Champ....where the little boy is crying and saying 'wake up champ, wake up' can feel myself welling up at the memory 😢

salsmum · 10/12/2023 22:47

Ps I love you.
Hatchi
Marley and me.
Ghost.
Jack Reacher (sp) when the puppy dies.
Schindler's list.

salsmum · 10/12/2023 22:51

It's a sin... remembering just how scary, tragic it was at the time and also my friends little brother who passed away because he had haemophilia and was given contaminated blood. 😢😢💔

salsmum · 10/12/2023 22:56

Sorry I forgot Braveheart. 😢

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/12/2023 23:01

FGS I just welled up at the end of The Polar Express when the boy (now adult) says he can still hear the bell. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️🥹

Davros · 10/12/2023 23:07

Hachi, a Dog's Story. I watched it once, traumatised, never again

specialsauce · 10/12/2023 23:10

Big

. . . when he walks away and his clothes all swamp him
