Yes to Blackadder goes Forth

I full on sobbed at a cinema at the end of Paddington 2 when his Aunt arrives

The Green Mile.

I read the book and cried so hard at the end that i couldn't see the pages properly.

I went to the cinema to see it (against my better judgment) and cried so hard the neck of my top was soaked.

DH wanted to watch it on telly a few years ago ... I was wary. Well - i started blubbing as soon as Tom Hanks starts making his way out to visit Mr Jingles !! 😳😥
(about 10 mins in)

You've never been to the Sistine Chapel, have you?😆

Buffypaws · 09/12/2023 19:15

Free Willy “salanaa eiyung ayesis”
also Marley and Me, I was out and unable to speak for 45 minutes

re. The changeling - I do remember the execution being horrifying although wasn’t sure if it was the ending or not

SuitYouSir · 09/12/2023 19:15

A Knight’s Tale when Heath Ledger goes back to see his old, blind father.

”Has he followed his feet? Has he found his way home at last..?” 😭

Cornishmumofone · 09/12/2023 19:15

American History X

MargaritaThyme · 09/12/2023 19:16

Blackadder was superb, when they had run out of time & options and had to go over the top, then the battle scene faded to a field of poppies. I read that they thought they had messed up the ending because the shoot didn’t go according to plan, but it was so effective.

It’s hard to compete with Schindler’s List, though. The real holocaust survivors and their descendants laying their pile of stones. Unbelievably moving.

RenoDakota · 09/12/2023 19:21

I have cried all the way from the cinema to the city centre twice in my life (and it is some distance).
After An Officer and a Gentleman and Dead Poets Society.

SkyTree · 09/12/2023 19:23

A Short Stay In Switzerland traumatised me when I was about 15! Have never been able to rewatch.

Tibbb · 09/12/2023 19:24

Road to Perdition - "he was my father" and the theme music really makes it even more sad.

Beaches - with the horse running along the beach into the sunset as Wind Beneath My Wings plays.

Houseplanter · 09/12/2023 19:27

The Bridges of Madison County when she's in her husbands truck towards the end.

Heartbreaking.

SiliconHeaven · 09/12/2023 19:28

I just re-watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and sobbed for half an hour at the end

DC1888 · 09/12/2023 19:31

Planes, trains and automobiles.

Del (John Candy) sat at the train station on his own with nowhere to go, with Steve Martin's character, who having left the station to go back to his family realised Del had been talking about his (late) wife in the past tense, coming back for him.

Nelliemellie · 09/12/2023 19:32

Terms of endearment gets me every time, she was so young and packed in so much in her life and then gone, the scene when Shirley McLain realised she was dead really touched me.

onestepfromgrace · 09/12/2023 19:38

Ah for those who mentioned Blackadder goes forth, I was very pregnant and I sobbed and then sobbed again.

Six Feet Under has a very moving final episode.

Here to say this. For a series that had brutal beginnings it exceeded itself with the finale

Homeward Bound, Shadows return 😭

Oh gods, I’m 53 and still can’t watch that without bawling my eyes out. I mean, I KNOW it ends well but still. Doesn’t help that I’ve always had goldens…😭😭😭

Fourfurrymonsters · 09/12/2023 19:52

D20 · 09/12/2023 19:09

Game of Thrones - Hodor 😢

Oh my god YES. It was so unexpected, so clever and beautifully done and I sobbed my heart out. And the music 💔 I went to see the Game of Thrones live concert which was utterly amazing but they played that scene and I was absolutely distraught again

Roselilly36 · 09/12/2023 19:55

Hachi, cried buckets.

Fourfurrymonsters · 09/12/2023 19:57

Marley and Me. My husband and I watched it with our two young kids a few weeks before we lost our elderly golden retriever and we all knew our time with him was getting very short. I’ve known my DH almost 30 years and it was one of only 3 times I’ve ever seen him cry. We were all inconsolable.

lartghy421 · 09/12/2023 19:59

The ending of Pride, when you find out mark died of aids just a few years later

onwardandupwards · 09/12/2023 20:09

What dreams may come, when he sees his pet dog in heaven.
Fluke
All dogs go to heaven
Who will love my children
All of the above have turned me into a crying wreck 😢

theaccidentaleconomist · 09/12/2023 20:12

The Color Purple , when Celie is reunited with her sister and her grown up children.

UngratefulOldCabbage · 09/12/2023 20:20

Ashes to Ashes when they see their flashbacks. I loved both that and Life on Mars.

Gone Girl is quite an interestingly emotional ending as she's a psycho and he's properly screwed. And there's a child coming in to it all.

HesAWankerOp · 09/12/2023 20:27

Million dollar baby. First time I watched that I couldn’t leave the house the next day as I looked like I’d been smacked in the eyes. Totally incredible (it’s another late Clint Eastwood movie, like bridges of madison county on steroids). His Gran Torino too, but not as much.

Red dog (the original, not the follow up). Based on a true story. Funny but also 😭😭

cinema paradiso.

another vote for Billy Elliot.

Marley and me. And a dogs purpose. I’m a sucker for dog/animal movies. Which means I need to mention the fox and the hound. And Bambi.

Philadelphia.

Sidebeforeself · 09/12/2023 20:29

@theaccidentaleconomist God yes the colour purple!

Also The Champ. When I was about 15 I watched it on TV with my Dad and we both bawled our eyes out. A year later it was on again.. we watched it together again..same thing happened.

He’s passed now and I will never be able to watch it again
