For me it would be the Teck Patented Table De-wobbling Wonder Ray Gun. To eradicate at the squeeze of a trigger those annoying moments in pubs, cafes and restaurants worldwide where the very table you've chosen, or had booked for you, just can't keep still. Think of all the napkins, drip mats and menus it would save!

A kitchen gadget where you just type in what you need (tin of beans, a cucumber, loaf of bread etc) and it magically appears. No more weekly shops!

And a washing machine in which you can put all colours and fabrics together and they come out not only washed, but dried and ironed too.

A machine that sorts the edges of jigsaws.

A webcam on the inside of the fridge.

You can get the webcam in fridges, we have one where I can view the contents of my fridge on my phone.

A scanner that a cancer patient can stand in front of that will scan the whole patient in only a couple of minutes and tell drs whether there are any rogue cancer cells left that are looking to put down their roots. One that works without having to access the patient's veins for contrast or radioactive dye. One that detects the presence of cancerous cells rather than formed tumours.

This would eliminate the need for continuing / maintenance chemo for thousands of patients per year and inform oncologists whether a treatment is working. And once all cancerous cells are known to be gone, treatment can stop, eliminating further traumatic and sometimes life-threatening treatment.

Blood tests can indicate cancerous cells but I want a machine that is much more sensitive and accurate.

It would revolutionise cancer treatment.

I don't actually think it'll be long before it's invented.

I don't think we're far off it either.

The Explorer machine gets us closer to what you envisage. It's the first total-body PET-CT, and it can scan someone in seconds. It's producing images far more detailed and higher quality than existing PET scanners.

I know one of the people who consulted on the Explorer, and he said it's capable of imaging metastases that would be subclinical on other scanners.

What I meant was you just press one button (not sure why I said typing!) and then the item’s just there in front of you (maybe some sort of 3D printer). Just replace as and when you need something.

You wouldn’t have to think ahead or wait for delivery.

I want an automatic eye tester.
I want something to sort of scan my eyes and determine the perfect lenses for my specs without me having to sit in that claustrophobic dark room with the optician breathing on my face while I try to decide if 'this' is better than 'that' as I squint at their chart.

Really just want star fleet to hurry up and get here - food replicators / holodeck and transporters !
But I want a sort of personal transporter system where you have a special door in your house with a key code and you take it in turn to key in the code of your destination. So on a Monday morning you watch while your children transport to their schools then you can send the dog to play at a relative's while you drop into work for a few hours.
At the weekend you pay for the code to a hotel in the Bahamas or an apartment in Paris etc...
