I am so annoyed with my GP

I've asked them twice if I could have a Covid jab this autumn, and they said point blank no. Last year, I had the jab in November. I'm 60+, have pre-diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

Guess what? I started to feel a bit shivery this morning and I now feel like I've got the flu coming on, so I did a test just to be on the safe side. Bright red positive. Damn - and I saw one of my friends yesterday evening, who is in the middle of chemotherapy.

I am so cross.

Well two people have now said what I was thinking.

Yes, the green book lists specifically states it as those with cancer who are undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy. So anyone with cancer not currently undergoing those treatments are not eligible for this round of vaccines.
But the OP said her friend is having chemotherapy, therefore he presumably has had the vaccination.

Well, I’ve just now had it. Macmillan weren’t sure I’d qualify, but the pharmacist at the vaccine place said I would, and did them both. I’m on drug treatment.

Doctors' receptionists are not medically qualified, and should therefore not be taking clinical decisions about a patient. They should certainly not refuse to allow a patient a telephone consultation when asked.

You do not need to be medically qualified to read a set of rules. Reception staff are fully trained to triage whether or not someone is qualified to get the booster. You think that GP's have time to set aside appointments for people who clearly are not entitled to the booster shot in ortder to tell them that they aren't entitled to the booster shot??? And then people complain that they can't get GP appointments - small wonder if this is what people expect GP's to waste their time on.
