Chicken madras - fridge

user749396 · 05/12/2023 18:52

If I cooked chicken madras last night with fresh chicken breast, will it be ok to consume on Friday?

I left it in the fridge and forgot about it and won't be back til Friday to eat it

How was it cooled?

LucyInTheParkWithDragons · 05/12/2023 18:59

I’m usually in the ‘eat everything’ camp, but that seems a while.

DavesRaves · 05/12/2023 19:02

I would put it in the freezer to eat another day.
That's what I do if it's not going to be eaten within a couple of days.
You can defrost it in the microwave on Friday.

I can't imagine afraid as I've left it in the fridge in another location where I won't be returning until Friday. It was put in the fridge once cool

Sniff test and then make sure to heat it thoroughly, I'm sure it will be fine.

user749396 · 05/12/2023 19:27

Hoping it's ok as I really don't want to waste it 😂

OP posts:
ShirleyPhallus · 05/12/2023 19:28

I’d eat it!

stepintochristmas1 · 05/12/2023 19:28

No

sprigatito · 05/12/2023 19:30

If it's covered, in the fridge, and the chicken is all well-coated in a good hot madras sauce, then it will be fine.

user749396 · 05/12/2023 19:49

It is, it's in an air tight container and then placed in an insulated lunch bag Grin

LucyLoopyLu · 05/12/2023 19:50

I'd eat it myself without worrying. Make sure it's piping hot when you reheat.

I wouldn't serve it to guests (!)

Cheeesus · 05/12/2023 19:51

No. But if you freeze it for a day or two then it’s fine. Just defrost it in the fridge.

Fairylightfurore · 05/12/2023 19:56

No. Cooked chicken only lasts 3 days in the fridge. If you freeze it and defrost on Friday then it should be fine

vernatheraven · 05/12/2023 20:07

No freeze it for a couple of days

misslomi · 05/12/2023 20:19

I batch cook chicken based dishes on a Sunday and eat them through to the Thursday. Never been sick so yes I would eat!

DinosaurOfFire · 05/12/2023 20:27

I would serve it as long as it was piping hot again. I go by a 4 day rule for most things, so cooked on Monday evening, eaten by bedtime Friday.

Livedandlearned · 05/12/2023 20:38

3 day rule

TiggeryBear · 05/12/2023 20:40

I'd not even consider that it wouldn't be okay to eat 🤷🏼‍♀️

user749396 · 05/12/2023 21:20

This is very mixed 😂

I wondered if the sniff test would be pointless given it's a strong smelling curry.

OP posts:
user749396 · 05/12/2023 21:20

But as mentioned, I can't freeze it as I'm not in the location where it is stored until Friday

OP posts:
salamirose · 05/12/2023 21:36

Give it a go and see how you get on

maximist · 05/12/2023 22:16

It'll be fine. I've eaten stuff that's been in the fridge for longer and lived to tell the tale...

Mummypete · 05/12/2023 22:17

I would. I’ve made lunches containing chicken in a big batch on a Sunday and eaten them Monday to Thursday for years and have never suffered any ill effects.

AuntieDolly · 05/12/2023 22:37

I'd be a bit worried about the insulated bag - might that have kept it warmer longer? I think it's too long
