Have you ever won anything on the radio?

Just listening to the radio, Heart have a competition running where you can win 50k and I was thinking how many people must enter, you've got to be so lucky to be selected out of the 1000s who must text in! Have you or anyone you know won anything in a radio competition?

When I was a teen living in Cyprus (army brat) o won a CD - The Cranberries, Everybody Else is Doing it Why Can't We - from BFBD radio

I was made up and played it on a loop for months Grin

Technically I won a voucher years ago but despite numerous calls , I never got the voucher 😖

Our local radio station used to do a question every morning. DH got banned because he won so many times - he had the number saved in his phone, hit dial just as they asked the question so he was always first in the queue if he knew the answer (he hung up before they answered if he didn't know.) He won a hat, a cooler bag, a toothbrush, numerous t-shirts, all with the radio station logo ..... such a saddo.

Ooh, I also forgot that a friend recently won a few thousand. She had to answer the phone saying a particular phrase.

My cousin won £25k on Heart, it was the one where you have to choose to keep the daily amount or risk it for a bigger (or more often than not lower) prize. She was lucky as the daily amount was £25k so obviously stuck with it! She did say that they rang several people and they were all on hold to be selected though, and she didn’t know if she would be until the last minute. So if you get a call back don’t assume you’ve won 🤣

I won a competition to meet Denis Waterman at the local radio studios when I was 5. It was around the time of I Could Be So Good For You, which I loved. I was over the moon to win! My mum took me but I cried so much we ended up not going in 😫

Passes for the cinema (several times) and a meal for 4 at a Chinese restaurant - which we never had due to too much office squabbling over who was “allowed” to go! This was c2001.

I won cinema tickets and a limo ride about 25 years ago. My sibling won over £30,000 in the last few years.

Yes I’ve won £5,000, quite a few £1000, a cruise, champions league tickets in Portugal including flights, hotel etc, mobile phone, laptop, and loads of smaller prizes.

Years ago there used to be an msn group. We’d all take a radio station to listen to and alert the others to competitions. I joined as it was tailing off. It was good fun, but quite intense!

I won a trip to Lapland to meet Santa with Virgin 1215 and Bachelor's Cuppa Soup. It was 1993 and I was a broke student so they gave me some spending money too. The felt streamers disintegrated years ago but I still wear the Sami hat I bought, mainly at Christmas and New Year.
The whole experience was wonderful and I've never forgotten it.

I keep wondering whether to enter the Greatest Hits 'network' one which is often for a huge sum - I think its £185k currently! But then think of the millions of people who are doing the same thing and decide to save my £2 entry fee. I've never won anything except the odd weird prize on a village fete tombola and £10 in the third week of the original National lottery.
