MillicentTrilbyHiggins · 04/12/2023 00:06

Haha. I'd be tempted. But I've not long changed my name. I'm not sure I can be bothered to do it again.

Chaitales · 04/12/2023 00:08

Given that most people refer to me in relation to my primary love - chai - it wouldn't be too far off 😂

KaiserChefs · 04/12/2023 00:08

No, because everyone would spell it wrong and miss the wordplay.

Draconis · 04/12/2023 00:13

Hmmm I guess the dark undertones could be alluring to some and repelling to others.
I wouldn't mind it though.

Raera · 04/12/2023 00:25

Yes fine

JustJoinedRightNow · 04/12/2023 00:25

Only if I could be known as JJ

EmiliaRuusuvuori · 04/12/2023 00:29

Definitely, it's so much better than my real one.
I should really be about thirty years older 😀

EvilRingahBitch · 04/12/2023 00:31

So so tempting.

LoveTheDarts · 04/12/2023 00:31

Maybe but only for the duration of the PDC World Championships 🎯 🌍 🏆

YoongiMarryMe · 04/12/2023 00:38

Definitely not 😆

Avacardo2023 · 04/12/2023 00:44

Yeah - username is my actual nickname anyway

echt · 04/12/2023 00:44

Nah.

While my username is perfectly fine my own surname is very distinctive, uncommon in the UK and unusual in Australia.

EveryKneeShallBow · 04/12/2023 00:48

Maybe. Would suit my overinflated ego.

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 04/12/2023 00:57

Surely this depends greatly on what your actual username is?!

It's not uncommon for female users to use the name of a male celebrity whom they fancy admire, which could get very confusing - not least because there is already somebody out there with that name (the celeb himself)!

If you're one of the users who cba to think of anything original, so you just go for User154328965431247585, how would people pronounce or remember it?!

Also, one of the key reasons for having a username on MN in the first place is for anonymity, so you would then have to change to a new username, to prevent it being extremely obvious who you are every time you post.

We'd end up with people irl being called names like ODFOD, NameChangedForThisThread, MumYoureSoEmbarrassing, CantShitPleaseHelpUrgent, IThinkIHaveACocklodger etc. - logically meaning that all MN usernames would then be along the lines of SarahTaylor, RebeccaPerkins and AndreaPeters Grin

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 04/12/2023 01:00

Of course, there's nothing (apart from common sense and basic safety) from using your own name as your username. You could always add further identifying details, such as your birthday and home address.

Your first thread could be about tips for surviving with no money in the bank, even though you used to own half of Buckinghamshire - after some fraudster has logged on and helped themselves royally to the low-hanging fruit.

FiveShelties · 04/12/2023 01:00

Was there a Star Trek character known as 'Five' or have I imagined that?

Helendegenerate · 04/12/2023 01:10

The American female I had in mind when choosing my name is someone I can't stand so no. I would love to be called Diana Drawers though so might change it to that one.

I am also far too old for this nonsense but what the hell 😁

SwordToFlamethrower · 04/12/2023 01:12

Appropriate I think, yes

justinhawkinsnavalfluff · 04/12/2023 01:13

Hell yeah!!

MrsJimmyPerez · 04/12/2023 01:16

Ooh yes please!

Sugarfree23 · 04/12/2023 01:18

Maybe not it might make me sound bitter.
But actually I don't like my actual first name. If I could change it overnight, no hassle, and everyone suddenly called me by a new name I'd do it.
But reality is changing your name is a faff and they'll always be someone who says that you are the 'artist previously known as Karen'

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 04/12/2023 01:20

I would love to be called Diana Drawers though so might change it to that one.

For some reason, that reminded me of a news report a few years ago about the rescue of the miners who were trapped deep underground in La Paz.

The article referred to the 'Bolivia coalmen' and somebody had commented "So pleased to hear this great news; I loved her in Broadchurch" !

Murpe · 04/12/2023 01:22

No. Sound like burp.

Beeswood · 04/12/2023 02:18

I would much prefer this to my actual surname.

RantyAnty · 04/12/2023 02:27

Sure it'd be funny and id have to start a YouTube channel with that name.
