The scrapper I have is pretty useless! And I’m short so struggle to reach the middle of the of the windscreen.
Any suggestions please?

Following in the hope you have anymore replies!

I got a new car this year and miss my front windscreen defrost button SOOOOOO much! I had no idea how amazing it was until I no longer had it...

TheMidnightLibrary · 03/12/2023 08:49

Thanks. Hadn’t thought of a cover. I’m a bit concerned it will get “removed” due to where I park and asb ☹️. But I’ll get a cheap one to try.

Back to scrapers ….
Has anyone got one of these Long armed brush and scraper
Or this. Heated One

I used to have a heated scraper, waste of time, took too long. I've got a generic fur-lined gauntlet one at the moment, that's doing the job but no idea where I bought it.

Thanks @Flavabobble I’ve seen some like that online. I like the idea of keeping hands warm and dry.

@TheMidnightLibrary they have little flaps that get wedged in the car door. Can't be blown off or stolen.

However if you are worried, just use cardboard.

I have had loads as live in the frozen far north. The best ones have been a random freebie from the SSPCA and one attached with a glove which I think was just from Amazon.

I bought that (or very similar) from B&M this week. It was £5

Get one of the covers that has a strap each side that connects on the inside of the car. It should have flaps that tuck into the doors as well. It won’t blow off or be “removed”.

We have those long armed scrapers in all our cars - I am in Maine so we use them a lot. We often get deep but lightweight snow so I use the brush more than anything. I also keep a can of windscreen de-icer spray in each car.

A cheap windscreen frost cover is your friend. £1 upwards

Birchvalley · 03/12/2023 16:07

I’m too little to reach the middle of my windscreen. I use a plastic fish slice: it has a long handle.

Don’t use your Boots loyalty card - you only get 20% off! Boom, boom!

(Sorry, couldn’t resist. 😉)

I use a jug and warm water. Never cracked the windscreen yet - note I said warm water. Defrosts in seconds. Also I park near grass so it doesn't then spill onto the road, freeze and make all the neighbours slip over. I had no warm water when I left work last week though ... so I had to use the cold coffee in my travel mug that I hadn't managed to drink throughout the day. Still worked a treat.

CloverHilla · 03/12/2023 18:42

I use my credit card 💳 😁

CatOnTheLap · 03/12/2023 20:04

I bought one a couple of years but couldn’t see how it was any better than any other scraper. You obviously have the knack of how to use it properly….what’s the secret?

HesAWankerOp · 03/12/2023 20:59

We have this one and it’s good for reaching further across the windscreen.

I park in a garage and don't have this problem.

boamorte · 03/12/2023 21:36

I haven't scraped by car windows for years

Like warm water and I'm away in minutes whilst you're still on your first window lol

Maerchentante · 03/12/2023 21:39

When I still had a car I used a cheapo scratcher, the type car hire companies put in rental cars. The trick, for me, was to have as many scrapers in the car as there were seats. All my friends knew that if I was the "designated driver" in the winter there was the chance they might have to scrape.

Occitane · 03/12/2023 21:43

I've got one of these and find it brilliant for the side windows. I cheat though, as I have a heated windscreen!

What if it snows when you are in the supermarket or similar?
