Never ending cold symptoms

Is there a virus going around with symptoms that get better and then worse again?

Three weeks ago I got a minor cold. Have an underlying condition so took it easy, the cold went and then it returned with a vengeance. I thought it was going to turn into bronchitis, but it didn’t and after a few days of exhaustion and shivers I felt better for a few days. This morning I have a cough and exhaustion.

Is this a nasty virus others have at the moment? Have others got similar? Just cannot understand why this has not gone.

Same, my eyes watering and sore ear, cough and constant blowing nose for months!!!

@PTSDBarbiegirl Best wishes to get well soon.

What I don’t get I that some days I am completely flat with this, including a few in bed. In the past I had streaming colds or coughs that lingered, but was always steadily getting better once over the peak days.

I feel I've spent the majority of my time after work in bed for months. I'm starting to worry now as I'm sapped of energy too, unfortunately it's not affecting my appetite. Get well soon!

So sorry @susiedaisy1912 I so want to push through it, but am afraid of it getting worse.

I’ve been recovering from what I thought was ‘just’ a cold for several weeks now. I’m still absolutely exhausted. My daughter had it first and hers went then came back as you describe.

I haven’t taken a Covid test at any point but have wondered whether that’s what it is. Whatever it is, it’s horrid ☹️

HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow · 02/12/2023 12:32

I had swine flu years ago. It took 8 weeks to feel better completely. I had a week off work, a week back at work where I was tired but ok and then another week off sick where I was really poorly and struggled to get out of bed and care for the kids.

After that it was up and down for weeks, much worse than Covid

JMAngel1 · 02/12/2023 13:21

I just got over this. I had it for 8 weeks - covid negative, 2 antibiotic courses a chest x ray which was fine and all blood tests good.
But I felt so ill - feverish, no energy, snotty nose and cough cough cough.
I’ve cured it myself with a nasal douche and beconase nasal spray. I think it was a chronic sinusitis after the initial infection which then caused nasal drip which caused the cough.
After 2 days of douching and the spray, all my symptoms went thank god.
Worth a shot?

Sounds more like you are run down and catching one bug after another before you've managed to shake off the previous one.

Commiserations to all with this.
Thanks @JMAngel1 Just sent my husband out to get those. Seems similar as mine sometimes gets better, but is always there at the back of my nose.
