Chocolate/s you would love to be given at Christmas (or anytime really)

Inspired by another thread and posters' differing tastes. What chocolate/s would you be thrilled to receive in your Christmas stocking and what type would make you glum/potentially regift? Though obviously grateful for the thought!

My all time favourite is Green and Black's Sea Salt chocolate bar (not always easy
to find) closely followed by Bendicks Bittermints. I would be soo disappointed
with a box of Ferrero Rocher.

lighthearted

Yes please to Läderach, Charbonnel et Walker (pink Marc de champagne 🤤) or toffifee!

No Thankyou to anything weird flavoured or dark!

I've become a bit of a chocolate snob and would be disappointed to get any dairy milk/ galaxy/ nestle/ thorntons type stuff. Also gone off Hotel Chocolat recently.

Dark Sugars (very posh but absolutely amazing), Tony's Chocolonely, Lindt, Chococo, Montezumas and Melt are all great.

hazelnutlatte · 02/12/2023 08:28

Rose and violet creams are my absolute favorite - I've helpfully pointed out to my husband that little boxes of them are currently £1.49 at Lidl. Mint creams are also top of my list, or I also love those seashells filled with praline.
There's not much chocolate I actually dislike though other than white chocolate.

Another fan of the elusive G&B Sea Salt 😋I love salted chocolate but most varieties have mouth-ripping shards of hard caramel in them.

Quantity over quality for me. A big bag of assorted Lindt balls or Freddos or a stack of Lidl salted pretzel bars would be perfect.

OceanicBoundlessness · 02/12/2023 08:32

Booja booja or Monty bojangles

Mothership4two · 02/12/2023 08:46

Wow Läderach chocolates are expensive. As are many of the others

I had a boss that always brought me back a box of Fortnum and Mason truffles whenever he went to London and he went there a lot. Favourite boss ever!

Benedicks bittermints followed by after 8’s or the Benedicks selection box. Please none of those awful sea shell chocolates! Last time someone gave those to us, even the dc wouldn’t eat them and they eat everything.

Mothership4two · 02/12/2023 09:08

No those sea shell chocolates taste horrid - look pretty though

Love dark chocolate with mint, or toblerone.

Dairy box would be disappointing (do they even still make them?)

Mystro202 · 02/12/2023 09:46

Omg I love the seashells! Lidl's do a good copy of them too 😆

mrmagpie · 02/12/2023 09:48

I'm honestly quite partial to a chocolate orange or toblerone, I don't have fancy tastes! Someone once bought me a sort of almond and sea salt toblerone from France and it was lovely.

Also mint things - I used to love Mingles which was a celebrations/heroes style box with all different types of mint chocolate in it, no idea why that was discontinued!

Mothership4two · 02/12/2023 09:50

Nestle still make Dairy Box. It;s OK as are chocolate oranges. Toblerone doesn't do it for me. Never heard of Mingles.

What's the budget?

Anything from a handmade smaller family run type place /and or somewhere that speficic says no palm oil like leondis.

AlPacinosHooHaa · 02/12/2023 09:54

@hazelnutlatte mine too.. However are they the classic Rose and violet?

Sometime it's not fondant but a type of cream which isn't the same

Mothership4two · 02/12/2023 09:55

@AlPacinosHooHaa

What's the budget?

Skies the limit

You can get a pouch of Quality Street just Strawberry Creams. They are my favourite but they only seem to sell them at Xmas. DH has a pouch of the Purple one.

AlPacinosHooHaa · 02/12/2023 09:59

In that case the best then and speficically without palm oil

Drhow · 02/12/2023 10:15

I only ever have Lindt, Ferrero rocher and guylians at Christmas, never at any other point in the year. Ditto Terry’s chocolate orange. I like Tony’s chocaloney and usually treat myself to a bar if I get a Tesco meal deal when I’m at work.

Plumful · 02/12/2023 10:19

Tony’s
marc de champagne truffles

WillowTit · 02/12/2023 10:21

several boxes of lindt variety

Amiable · 02/12/2023 10:33

Lindt Lindor, you mmmm

sueelleker · 02/12/2023 10:34

I love Lindor. I visited Gunwharf Quays before Christmas last year, and there's a Lindt shop there that has all the pick'n'mix of the unusual flavours you don't get in boxes.

Mothership4two · 02/12/2023 10:40

Didn't know that @sueelleker Gunwharf isn't too out of the way for me

It's on the left as you go in through the pedestrian entrance from the station.
