M&S 12 days of Christmas

I love this each year, today I got a free 75ml hand cream. Which isn’t likely to be as delicious as the florentines I got on day one last year, but you can’t complain about a freebie!

I’m hoping for a knitwear discount one day, I’ve had a cashmere cardi in my basket for weeks.

Who can top free hand cream this morning?! 😁

I've got the light up liqueur....not sure whether it's worth going into town to collect it...or who I'd gift it too....

GreekCats · 12/12/2023 11:35

20% off coats today. Had a free handcream on the first day and a free pack of biscuits another, rest were discounts. No gin or Prosecco. I must spend around 7k a year at M&S, I did get the gin liquer last year though.

CatMandarin · 12/12/2023 12:11

I got chocolate coins this year and percy pig fairy lights last year. Didn't pick them up.

willyconker · 12/12/2023 13:50

I got the diffuser for free. Went to collect and they don't stock it in my store anyway!!

Inanun2 · 12/12/2023 14:03

The MOST underwhelming 12 days of Christmas ever ! I got free chocolate coins 😂 all the rest were % off vouchers.
I spend a fortune in M&S, but would rather have had a freebie gift worth a fiver not discounts, is it really just random ?
I do have their Advent calendar and am enjoying that at least.

Wingdingz · 12/12/2023 14:15

I know M&S is trying to be fun and generous and also to drive people in a tangerine-stoked frenzy towards the stores but I honestly think they'd get better results if they just offered all Sparks holders 20% off everything for five days and then awarded random surprise gifts at the till/check-out.

Instead of this promotion that only sets people up for an anticlimax, 10 days out of 12. It's ridiculously ungrateful of me to feel short changed with a bag of free tangerines and a hand cream - they were free, ffs! Free! - but something about this whole promotion seems to trick my brain into expecting a Mini Metro and my body weight in Percy Pigs every single day.

Darklane · 12/12/2023 14:28

I think it’s been useless for me, just % reductions on things I won’t buy, no freebies.

Brieaddict · 12/12/2023 14:58

I got 20% off coats today which is great as I'd bookmarked, in my browser, the one I wanted a couple of weeks ago.

Tried to add a Nuxe gift set with the 20% off I got on a previous day but that discount didn't work, even though brands were included in the terms.

reluctantbrit · 12/12/2023 20:33

20% of coats I won't use as the grand final and an email that I am in a larger prize draw. With all us Mumsnetter in it, my chances are small.

I actually got the Percy train, the Simple Food near St. Paul's in London had plenty.

I didn't rate the JL highly, too many competitions, similar to the Boots one.

Why can't they just give a general 20% off everything? I am sure DD needs new bras or DH T-shirts.

Theperfectconker · 12/12/2023 21:26

Pp who are getting gin, liqueurs and good stuff as freebies - how much do you spend a week/month? Is the algorithm linked to average spend x you get this, average spend y ypu get this freebie?

1975wasthebest · 12/12/2023 21:34

Two freebies and I average a £60 spend total a month. I don’t think there’s any rhyme or reason about the 12 Days of Christmas when I think of the postings on this thread. But I know there’s an algorithm with Sparks because my offers there are almost always for items I’ve bought before.

aintnospringchicken · 12/12/2023 21:35

I got 20% off coats today.I'd bought a lovely coat from M&S just last week for DH to give me for Christmas so I ordered the same coat online ,got my 20% off and will return the other one.Win win.

reluctantbrit · 12/12/2023 22:07

I mainly buy food at M&S, the odd clothing item, some stuff for DH and never home or children.

But I got the same generic discounts like everyone else here. I think only the freebies are different.

Even my normal offers are fairly random outside chocolate bars, chicken and mini bites which I buy on a regular baiss but I never get discounts for other things I buy like cold cuts, fish, biscuits, dairy and fruit.

User136921 · 12/12/2023 22:16

I spend about £20 a week on M&S food and buy the odd piece of clothing, this year I have probably spent about £200 on non food items. I got free handcream and EB poinsettia.

That’s a shame. Mine had loads behind the till to pick from!

justalouvremachine · 12/12/2023 23:17

The best I got was a free Autograph perfume worth £40, I went to pick it up yesterday and got the last one 😀wish I got the 20% off coats, all I got for the grand finale was a free dip 😂not sure I can be bothered to go all the way there just for free houmous (hummus?)

Chickoletta · 12/12/2023 23:27

A chilled dip for me today, which I will definitely claim next time I’m shopping.

I can see why some people are disappointed but I’m quite chuffed overall. A free perfume which I really love and wouldn’t otherwise have tried (worth £10 though, not £40 as a PP stated), a dip to go with the M&S posh crisps I would have bought anyway and some good discounts. Bought pjs for DH and DS with the 20% discount, so saved £10 there and another few quid with the plants and Christmas card discounts. Call me sad, but I also enjoyed the door opening excitement more than I would a blanket discount.

User136921 · 13/12/2023 06:17

Yes, I enjoyed it too, I was particularly excited about my £8 EB poinsettia.Xmas Grin

Bells3032 · 13/12/2023 10:46

I missed day 3 so didn't get the extra special prize for opening them all. what was it?

Eaumyword · 13/12/2023 10:48

@Bells3032 it was just entry to a prize draw as opposed to a guaranteed prize.

Bells3032 · 13/12/2023 10:49

oh v disappointing

User136921 · 15/12/2023 05:52

Anyone else get a free surprise bottle of light up liqueur on their Sparks today, I did so I would check your Sparks account, Xmas Smile

Yes, lovely surprise - no email, just on the app.
Having never had bought these before, I'm not sure which to choose.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 15/12/2023 07:33

Lucky you!

I got...

Discounts off booking shows. I did wonder whether Gary Sodding Barlow was involved somewhere along the way.

So my total freebies were zilch. All discounts, and not useful ones, either.

1975wasthebest · 15/12/2023 08:48

All winners will by emailed by tomorrow, apparently. You have to have opened all 12 doors to be eligible. I would love something, but have done OK with two nice freebies worth £9 in total so can’t complain.
