This may sound like a silly question but wondered if anyone knew how likely it is to ice up overnight?

It’s currently -3 and it’s not frozen at the moment so wasn’t sure!!

Reckon so. Ours did at -2 last night.

Blipeuy · 29/11/2023 21:45

Yes. I defrosted my car this morning and had to do it again as I left work. It's 0/-1 here

Handovertothetedcross · 29/11/2023 21:45

Yup

Muchtoomuchtodo · 29/11/2023 21:46

Not where i am I don’t think. It’s still 3 degrees outside

Peacheroo · 29/11/2023 21:47

If the sky is clear with no cloud cover then 100%.

It's all ready -2 here and id guess similar elsewhere so although there is cloud coverage, as it's so cold also 100%.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 29/11/2023 21:49

Yes here. It was 0 as I got in the car after work at 4pm, so def going to freeze.

mrsfollowill · 29/11/2023 21:51

We're in S Yorkshire and frozen this morning- has already frozen tonight and its -1c at the moment. Had a lovely (but cold) sunny clear day and the same forecast for tomorrow.

GoodVibesHere · 29/11/2023 22:00

Yes

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 29/11/2023 22:04

Mine was icy last night 🥶

cardibach · 29/11/2023 22:14

If it’s -3 it is already frozen…there’s just no water on the screen to make the ice. By morning there will be.

roseygo · 29/11/2023 22:20

Yes 100%

DappledThings · 29/11/2023 22:23

I didn't leave the house till just after noon today, still had to clear ice even by then.

That’s not a lovely day. That’s a horrible, cold (but pointlessly sunny) day. Hate it. Hate the cold. Hate winter.

KenAdams · 29/11/2023 22:34

My husband went to put the cover on the windscreen at 8pm and it was already freezing over.

Spendysis · 29/11/2023 22:36

mine Was frozen this morning and I’ve just had to defrost it tonight to go and pick ds up from work at 9pm

Decafflatteplease · 29/11/2023 22:38

Yes absolutely, we need to be ready 15 mins earlier to allow for car deicing

mrsfollowill · 29/11/2023 22:40

I too much prefer a Spring day- clear sunny and 16c+- preferably 18c- we have had weeks of grey- constant rain/drizzle - one day last week I had all the lights on til 11 am and had to put them on at 2pm. So for me today was a vast improvement!
It's a bloody grind every Dec to March in my head and gets worse the older I get. Don't find December too bad as I have Christmas coming up. I swear I'm booking to go somewhere sunny in January/Feb one year when I have the leave and can afford it!

Sounds lovely to me. Love a bit of cold but with glorious blue sky. I was in London today in a bit I haven't been to for ages. Golden leaves still on the trees, lovely low winter sun bouncing off them from a blue sky. It looks far nicer than in the glare of summer. I was grinning like a loon walking down the Embankment with the sheer joy of it. If it was warn I would just have been grumpy about getting sweaty and getting a headache from the sun.

Crucible · 29/11/2023 22:43

I have an excellent windscreen cover (I'm a bit in love with it) as it really works and has ear muffs attached for my mirrors. It's like putting my car to bed. I wipe over the windscreen with some de-icer first. It's got magnets all around to hold it in place too. I detest scraping ice, I hate getting my clothes wet and dirty doing it and I get so fecking cold.

2023usernameNew · 29/11/2023 22:45

@Crucible

I think we have the same cover. I love it too. Best purchase I made last winter.

Pinkpinkpink15 · 29/11/2023 22:45

Buy yourself a Ford & you'll never need to worry again - the Fast Defrost is amazing!!

It's supposed to be -2° here overnight, but I swear they take that reading from the warmest place in my location I'd say it'll easily get down to -4. I'm almost guaranteed an icy car.

@Schooldinner1 why is it so important tonight??

Nope. It’s cold. Cold is horrible. It makes me miserable. A bit of pointless not warm sun doesn’t help - and actually is actively grim because in the winter it’s mostly at a low angle blinding me.

Copperoliverbear · 29/11/2023 22:51

I put a cover windscreen so makes it a bit easier.

Sounds like mine - quilted, magnets and covers for wings.

They're great at keeping windscreens clear! A doddle instead of faffing around scraping it off. Only need to do front sides for scraping.

Copperoliverbear · 29/11/2023 22:53

It's say -1 on my weather app. X
