Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The window's open, but the usual birds are very quiet this morning. I didn't sleep very well -kept waking every few hours- and now feel slightly like I have a hangover 🙄

I'm off to The Range, this morning, with dd1. Dd2 said she didn't want to come but I'll check as I go to get dressed in case she's changed her mind.

I'm just about to put another coat of primer on a baseball cap to become a duck, and then varnish the top of something for school, before I think about getting dd1 up.

I want a few more of the decorations I picked up the other week, and maybe the tree I was eyeing up too! Also want to look for a nice dressing table mirror for dd2's birthday, to stand on the dressing table she's having for Christmas. Her birthday's 28th Dec so she won't have to wait long for it, and does have a mirror to use for the couple of in-between days.

There's nothing to be done really around the house, when we get back. Just a few odd things, and some washing, to put away.

Left over Chinese for tea - the girls' choice of treat after yesterday's big clean, so no cooking to do either <winning>!

This evening I'll either mark out my next peg dolls, or continue a small cross stitch Christmas card for my dad, before an early night. Both girls have homework so will remind them to crack on with that too.

What about all of you? 🙂

Still in bed with a headache. Feeling like I can't catch a break the past few months! DH went out last night and is still snoring away. I want to put DDs Christmas lights up in her bedroom before she gets home this afternoon. I need to do some GF baking for her lunchbox next week and probably think about wrapping some presents. Total lack of motivation though, so for now I'm staying put!

ProfessionalTeaDrinker · 26/11/2023 08:51

I'm thinking about getting out the Christmas tree.......
It will be the earliest it's ever gone up but it's just been so grey and miserable I just fancy having it up! Not sure if I'm peaking too soon and will regret it though?!

Kim82 · 26/11/2023 09:07

Morning everyone.

I think we’re having a bit of a lazy day today. I need to nip out and collect a new mattress for dd9 this morning then I’ve promised her we will put her little Christmas tree up in her bedroom and make it all cosy.

I kind of want to put our Christmas decorations up today but it feels a bit early yet.

I need to scrub the kitchen and bathroom then do the usual Sunday uniform ironing and homework with dd9.

Dd19 is working until 6pm today, I’m not sure what dh’s or dd16’s plans are.

We’re having roast chicken for tea and I’ll finish the wine I opened last night.

ShipshapeShore · 26/11/2023 09:09

@ProfessionalTeaDrinker don't do it! I think loads of people will peak too soon this year and by Christmas week every will be fed up of it and grumpy. I hope not but Christmas seems to have started extra early this year.

Church soon then off to see family for us. I've got some Christmas chocolate for later and the DC are excited to spend some time with my sister's puppy. Might be a glass of wine involved for me!

Have a lovely day everyone.

QueenMabby · 26/11/2023 09:13

I'm still in bed. Will get up in a minute. 30 mins of exercise to do.

Nothing much planned. Dd singing in chapel this evening. Both DCs have homework to do and dd needs to do some music practice. Ds has mocks revision.

Hedjwitch · 26/11/2023 09:15

On a city break in Krakow so more wandering about, shopping and eating! Minus 2 so will have to wrap up warmly.

TomaytoTomaato · 26/11/2023 09:16

Enjoying a cuppa snuggled under a blanket whilst watching an episode of Two Doors Down (and browsing MN!).
DH going out for a bike ride shortly and DS has homework to do, so I'm going to pop out and run a few errands. Then I'll watch the Grand Prix with DS at lunchtime.
Making pizzas for tea (usually do this Friday night, but we all went out to see a comedian so we swapped it around!).
Will fit in a load of washing or two at some point and a few more cups of tea accompanied by MN browsing!

Soccermumamir · 26/11/2023 09:17

Morning,
On my 2nd cup of coffee whilst DS1 is at football and DS2 is sat watching Doctor Who lol 😆 OH is full of cold.
Need to put a 2nd coat of paint on my walls in the frontroom today. Need it all painted before Xmas. Hope everyone has a good day 😊

MyGirlDaisy · 26/11/2023 09:22

I’m still in bed with a coffee. Dog is asleep on me but he will need to go out soon. We have a Christmas Market in our town today so DH and I will wander down to look at that. I will probably pop round to see my elderly parents later. DS2 has his lovely GF over this weekend not sure what their plans are. Roast Lamb for dinner. It’s been a busy week so be nice not to rush about.

Simonjt · 26/11/2023 09:24

Good morning,

Its starting to get cold here so I spent this morning setting up our pre-heater for the car, obviously I hadn’t bought one with a long enough cable.

We’re liking going to have a fairly lazy day here, both of the children have bad colds, so apart from going to the park we probably won’t do a great deal.

Ostryga · 26/11/2023 09:29

Lazy morning with Dd today, we’ve been so busy recently I’ve put my foot down and insisted we slob out! We’re going to go have a walk to the park in a bit for some fresh air, then pick up bits for dinner as I’ve got a couple of friends over later. Will probably make a fish pie or maybe lamb chops.

pinkstripeycat · 26/11/2023 09:31

Drinking my coffee (poured by DS2. Made by me 😉 ) and waiting for DS2 to bring my dressing gown back while he makes his brekky in a cold kitchen. Waiting for radiators to warm up.

Going to walk the dog (it’s frosty out there)
DH on way home after a weekend sports event.
Doing some banking, ironing and admin for work.
Apart from walking dog again later I will stay in the warm.
I only usually have Sundays off (I feel sorry for myself about this and go in about it all the time) but I had yesterday off to so it’s been a lovely weekend

pinkstripeycat · 26/11/2023 09:35

I’m glad I’m not the only one taking my time this morning. When cars drive past the house I think I should be up and about but I love this staying in dressing dressing gown, hot drink, spending the day with DC, cuddled up time of year.

It’s nice to know lots of other people are doing the same.

ProfessionalTeaDrinker · 26/11/2023 09:38

@ShipshapeShore I think you are probably right! It just feels like its much closer to Christmas then it is this year for some reason!

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 26/11/2023 09:43

Good morning Lucysmam and others. You are very creative! It's 0° and cold here. Unlike you Lucysmam I had a good night's sleep. It's unusual for me as I'm normally awake a lot. I've had two coffees and a slice of toast. I'm sitting scrolling through social media. Shortly I'll go for a shower then head to dd's. I'm looking after dgs2 for a couple of hours. Dgs1 has another party and sil is working. After that, I'll visit mum. Roasted salmon for dinner with assorted roasted veggies. Enjoy your day

Westfacing · 26/11/2023 09:45

Just watching Laura Kuenssberg before doing a little light housework and general faffing around.

At 11.30 will go out for a walk in the freezing cold to end up at Uniqlo just as they open at 12.00.

Come home, eat lunch and drink a couple of glasses of wine!

Crunchymum · 26/11/2023 09:47

Morning @lucysmam
Hope you are keeping well?

We're having a "home" day today (well I am anyway!). Just waiting for the food shopping to arrive and then I'm going to do scrambled eggs with tomato and avocado on toast.

DC2 had a sleepover last night and has a lovely festive day planned with her hosts so won't be back until this evening.

DC1 wants to test out his new bike, it's a lot bigger and I'm a bit nervy so I'll let daddy take him out. DC3 will tag along too. They'll probably hit the nature reserve too and maybe have a cheeky hot chocolate.

Then its just the usual ironing, batch cooking, homework type chores today. Am doing a roast today (well lamb, minted new potatoes and veg) will be my last one before Christmas though. My lot aren't massive roast fans so we don't have one every week anyway.

Depending on what time DC2 is home we'll stick a film on later. Or maybe one of the new episodes of Planet Earth.

Early night all round as its another busy week ahead.

MegaClutterSlut · 26/11/2023 09:47

My plan is to
catch up with the washing,
Tidy everywhere else
finish putting the Xmas decs out
Visit df at his care home
Put Xmas dec boxes in the loft
Walk dogs
Chinese take away

EveWinter · 26/11/2023 09:53

Morning, I've got to work (fh) on something I am writing with a deadline 😩, other than that, tackling the never ending pile of laundry, a bit of sewing - nothing exciting, taking a skirt in and reparing a hole.

I might go out for a walk to get out of the house at some point, coffee and cake or the local NT place where I can buy my annual Xmas dec. My tree is up and I am loving looking at it as I sit here working - definitely not too early for me.

I'll wait until this afternoon to go out though as it is currently -2 and I am warm and cosy inside.

Oh, and I am making a cooked breakfast once DC get up which will probably be 11:30 as they are knackered after a week of school and work on Saturday.

WhatWouldHopperDo · 26/11/2023 09:58

Fairly relaxed day here. I’ve just had the most amazing nights sleep which is like winning the lottery for me as I have chronic insomnia.

DH is working 2 to Midnight.

DCs are both out I think.

I want to take DDog for a good long walk as he’s been getting a bit restless in the evenings after being mildly poorly and not having any long walks for a week or so. He’s fine now.

Not many chores, a bit of laundry and a kitchen quick clean plus some minor admin.

Going to watch my first Christmas film after DH leaves for work and finish another book this afternoon. I’ve got 2 on the go and want to finish them by the end of the month so I can switch to my Christmas reads.

Enjoy the Range @lucysmam . I went yesterday and it was full to the brim of excited children. It made me smile and also a bit sad as my DCs are grown up and don’t indulge my Christmas crap browsing these days!

ThomasinaLivesHere · 26/11/2023 09:58

Morning all!

The only scheduled thing to do is a swimming class for my 2 year old. I’m heavily pregnant so my husband will be in the class with him. I just sit and watch. The lesson is around his nap time which is a bit unfortunate as it’s hard to tell if it’s better to sleep before or after. Sometimes it works out better than others.

If I have a chance during his nap I’ll do some organising for hospital bag or Christmas.

EvenBetta · 26/11/2023 09:59

How come these threads aren’t just made in to one long thread, in 30 days only?

Spookymormonhelldream · 26/11/2023 10:01

Morning MN.
Just back from a frosty dog walk. Made pancakes for the kids (and me!) and put on the first load of laundry.
Planning to go to the supermarket later to do a shop for the food bank (DC's school is collecting) and will pop into TK Max as I keep breaking wine glasses so I need to buy a matching set!
Not sure what to do for dinner, might do a roast chicken - it's definitely the day for it!
Meanwhile we are all still loafing around. Will get the kids dressed soon and have a shower myself.

RabbitsRock · 26/11/2023 10:03

Morning lucysmam & everyone. Having hash browns for brekkie - so hooked on them! Working later & trying not to clock watch. The store will no doubt be manic! I’ve had the tumbledryer on & the dishwasher has its’ first load ( put pans, baking trays etc in). Nearly enough clothes to put the washing machine on too. DD14 has gone for her 2nd walk of the day. DH is in the shower after cutting his hair, then after his daily porridge he will clean out the bunnies. Nice easy tea of fishfingers, chips & baked beans. Probably watch The Crown tonight. Series 6 is proving to be definitely better than series 5! Wine will feature at some point.

AlisonDonut · 26/11/2023 10:05

Climbed out from under 3 quilts this morning. fed the village cats [another new one, we think from a spring litter] and tidied the outside terrace as we are getting a trap later today to trap the mother cat and get her neutered. So that is 11 coming for breakfast each morning.

Been and collected potatoes from the top shed for lunch, and harvested some carrots - two nice big ones so I'm well happy with that. We are swapping from a Sunday 'all day breakfast' which I do all summer to the winter 'actual Sunday Roast' today.

Had to switch off the robot mower, there's so much ice here his wheels are too iced up to make a full rotation so he kept getting stuck going round and round so he's now basking in the sun waiting for the ice to melt.

So just having a cup of tea and inputting tomato information into a database I'm doing for a volunteer seedbank. Only 640 odd to go out of 850 ish.
