The Moon just now (pic)

Walking this evening we noticed this wide circle around the moon so I whipped my phone out and managed to reproduce it, thankfully. I was quite excited, wondering what the heck it was until DP suggested it was connected to the frost, or something...
I am in Lancashire at the moment.
Can anyone else see this in the sky right now?

Wow. We've just looked. It's quite beautiful although I didn't see the halo straight away as it's quite far out (we're E Mids)

A ring around the moon signifies stormy weather to come! A bit of weather folklore I have observed to be often true.

I've no idea what causes the ring around the moon, but it's traditionally a sign of bad weather coming.

Go out at arse o clock in the morning , you'll see Venus too.

We saw it tonight in Brighton while we had a big bonfire and got tipsy. My husband tried and failed to photograph it

It's been called a brough round the moon as far as I can remember, and means frost/snow is coming.

Large aura is meant to mean very cold. Not much of one here, I'm jealous. Midlands.

A lot of the folklore is tied to solid science - in this case ice crystals at altitude are usually associated with the leading edge of a frontal system, so yep, the halos are are fairly good indicator that bad weather may well be on the way.
