That woman is fantastic! I've just watched her half time show at the (American) football in Dallas on YouTube

77 in hot pants - she just looked and sounded incredible

I want to go and see her live now

OP posts:

Her generous donation helped fund the Moderna Covid vaccine.

She is amazing.

@YourNameGoesHere I only found out recently that she wrote I will always love you- she's very talented

The fact you only found this out recently is part of exactly why she's so amazing.

Just think if any other person had written such a hit they would have made sure everyone was aware that they had done so. Not Dolly however, she's too busy trying to make the world better to brag about such trivial things.

There is rather more to Dolly Parton than looking good in hot pants .🤔

Absolutely. Its very refreshing.

RoseGallica · 24/11/2023 08:34

Elvis wanted to record I will always love you but the deal was that if Elvis recorded a song he then had the rights to it so Dolly said no. Of course it was then a huge hit for Whitney Houston and Dolly funded Dollywood on the proceeds. Dolly ain’t dumb. I love her.

Mrsjayy · 24/11/2023 08:37

my favourite Dolly Story is she wouldn't give Elvis I will always love you to record because .his manager wanted Elvis to have writing credits Dolly's like nah it's my song 😃

Love a bit of Dolly! Dh and I were watching NFL last night too and I couldn’t believe how good she looks for her age. Yea obviously she’s had work done but still love her.

LakeTiticaca · 24/11/2023 08:40

I love Dolly. She is hugely talented humble, a very generous philanthropist, a very astute business women and anynone who has ever watched her being interviewed, she has a hilarious sense of humour 🥰
Elvis presley wanted to cover "I will always love you" with the agreement that he would get 50% of the publishing rights.
Dolly very wisely told him to sod off so he never did the cover 😉
Woe betide anyone who tries to pull the wool over Dolly's eyes!!

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 24/11/2023 08:42

Just reading this thread and I didn’t know how much she has done for the world. Makes me love her more! I love when you find out a celebrity you like is really nice too.

CurlewKate · 24/11/2023 08:45

She gave a significant chunk of money to research into a covid vaccine as well. But hey, hot pants.

LubaLuca · 24/11/2023 08:45

I've never heard anyone say a bad thing about her. She is an absolute queen. She's bright, feisty, hard working, talented, generous, down to earth...

She owns the surgery she's had, no pretense or denial. She's not a worse person for having pleased herself, not sure why a pp seems to think it makes her so.

pickledandpuzzled · 24/11/2023 08:46

She’s fabulous! I love her unapologetic ’look’ and how she describes it.

She really is smart.

skippy67 · 24/11/2023 08:46

I've loved her for years. Such a talented writer, and performer. When Whitney's version of I will Always Love You came out, I made it my mission to tell anyone and everyone that Dolly's version was the original and best 😊

DialSquare · 24/11/2023 08:46

She's amazing. I remember an interviewer asking her once what she hoped people would be saying about her in 100 years time and she responded with "boy, does she look good for her age"!

You can make the point again and again but it's just making you look quite grumpy and bonkers.

Yes the OPs post commented on how she looked and sounded and everyone else on the thread has taken it in good spirits to share not only how amazing she looks but also her other amazing qualities. I'm pretty sure the OP doesn't only like her because she looks good in bloody hot pants.

The Imagination Library charity that she set up and funds is huge, globally they've given out over 200million books to children who for whatever reason can't afford them.

Dollywood provides jobs and funding for people in poverty in The Smoky Mountains where she was born and raised.

Blue Valley Songbird, When Jesus comes calling for me and Coat of many colours are amongst my favourites but I could listen to most of her songs on repeat.

@YourNameGoesHere "You can make the point again and again but it's just making you look quite grumpy and bonkers."

🤣🤣 I know I'm not grumpy and I know I'm not bonkers....

Agree
I think she's always refreshingly honest, upfront and unapologetic for her surgery and looks. She's never tried to pretend otherwise (unlike so many other celebrities)

giraffetrousers · 24/11/2023 08:52

One of the kindest people in showbiz. She is an absolute legend and I adore her

So just join in the thread and take it in the same spirit the rest of us have and comment on how incredible this amazing women is and stop making snide comments about the fact the OP said she looked good in hot pants, which she does to be fair.

I've heard that she's said 'it costs a lot of money to look this cheap' Grin

Sarvanga38 · 24/11/2023 08:57

Fabulous woman - has come from dirt poor in the Tennessee woods and has made sure she has given a hand to as many people as she can to pull them up with her.

Littlelucas · 24/11/2023 08:59

"It takes a helluva lot of money to look this cheap"

One of my favourite quotes 😂😂

Do you know she wrote "I will always love you" for her old boss/co-star Porter Wagoner. He brought her on his hugely popular show as a bit part, she progressed to co-presenter and then eventually her huge popularity meant she left to have her own career. Wagoner was pretty upset about this and Dolly who said he'd been like a father to her wrote the song as a kind of apology to him. If you listen to the lyrics it's a goodbye song and is really bittersweet.
