How many saucepans do you have?

Tacocatgoatcheesepizza · 22/11/2023 20:49

Currently I have 3 stainless steel and 5 non stick. The non stick ones need replacing. I seem to be erring towards buying a new set of 3 of both types …. Is 9 saucepans silly? Am I just getting sucked in by Black Friday deals? I only have 5 rings on the hob after all….. but then we do use more than that on Christmas Day 🤔

In other news….why am I so hopelessly indecisive?!

We have 3 non stick saucepans
about 8 stainless steel sauce pans
4 frying pans and a wok

HardcoreLadyType · 22/11/2023 22:25

I have 6 saucepans, but various other pots and pans.

i hate non-stick. The surface comes off and then you throw away a perfectly good saucepan, because it is no longer nonstick. Such a waste of money and the earth’s resources.

None of mine are nonstick, and if anything gets burnt on, I give it a good old scrub, and it comes up nice and shiny again. Their handles are all metal, too, so they will last me out!

4 stainless Steel copper bottom
1 med non stick
1 small non stick
1 small frying pan
1 pressure cooker
1 wok
1 cast iron Dutch oven
1 chip pan

All of which are over 20 yrs old except the Dutch oven , that's about 2 yrs old

Ladyof2022 · 22/11/2023 22:35
  1. One is a small milk pan which has never been used.
Catsmere · 23/11/2023 02:12

I have NONE!

muahahahahaha

DilemmaDelilah · 23/11/2023 03:07

I have 6 ordinary stainless steel saucepans, two great big two handled saucepans, a small and a tiny non stick saucepan, three frying pans of varying sizes, a wok and a HUGE wok. It may be too many......

Theoldwoman · 23/11/2023 03:10

I have 3 , it’s plenty for us.

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 23/11/2023 03:58

I only have 2 saucepans, 2 pans, 1 wok, 1 omelette maker, 1 george foreman, 2 casserole dishes and does us fine as just myself and son. Steam alot also.

JenniferJupiterVenusandMars · 23/11/2023 05:47

A set of three stainless steel ones plus a three layer steamer and three frying pans of varying sizes.
More than enough for me!

CeeceeBloomingdale · 23/11/2023 05:53

I've got rid of loads, now have three saucepans, two frying pans and a couple of griddle pans too

Elektra1 · 23/11/2023 06:08

I cook a lot, for a family, and have only ever owned 3 saucepans and 1 casserole. The saucepans are excellent quality stainless steel and I've had them 23 years, they are still good as new. I also have 1 large and 1 small non stick frying pan.

Caspianberg · 23/11/2023 06:12

3 saucepans (small, medium, large)
2 frying pans (small and large)
1 casserole dish (oven and hob use)

It’s plenty and we cook every day.

LickleLamb · 23/11/2023 06:38

I have 2 mediium pans which I bought 25 years ago - they are some Scandinavian make and great.
1 lge long handled, 1 large like a casserole. And one which was like a wedding present I got 40 odd years ago, with enamelled outside, brown enamelled lid which I found on ebay - great heat conductor. 2 fry pans.

User18650674 · 23/11/2023 06:45

1 larger stainless steel
1 larger non stick
2 medium stainless steel
1 larger milk pan
4 small non stick mikpans with lips which we use loads and easily fit in the dishwasher,
1 large lidded frying pan
1 small frying pan

Nonplusultra · 23/11/2023 06:46

1 saucepan, 1 steamerstack saucepan, 1 frying pan, 1 wok, 1 large cast iron casserole and an enormous stockpot. I cook from scratch a lot and find that’s plenty.

I’m not a fan of non stick - I don’t trust it near food. It also wears out quickly so it’s not sustainable - no reason that saucepans shouldn’t last a life time otherwise.

Foxrouge · 23/11/2023 07:24

I have
one small saucepan
a big saucepan with 2 steamer tiers on top
a stockpot (used more for pasta tbh)
a wok
a large sauté pan
a big frying pan
a small frying pan
a crepe pan

I also have an instant pot. I could maybe do with one more saucepan the size of the one with the steamer for Christmas or other gatherings or when cooking a selection of curries etc but I manage without.

Sugarfree23 · 23/11/2023 07:34

Way more than I need.
1 Stock pot
2 big pots
3 medium pots
3 small pots
2 milk pans

All in too good a condition to get rid. They are effectively 3 sets, one from my house, one from DHs house, one wedding set.

margotrose · 23/11/2023 07:39

Three saucepans and one frying pan.

dudsville · 23/11/2023 07:40

We recently reviewed our situation with saucepans and frying pans. It's been a real pleasure to get rid of the knackered and the unsuitable.

SaltyGod · 23/11/2023 07:47

We do a decent amount of entertaining and cooking and have:
3 Le creuset pans
1 non stick
1 milk pan
1 frying pan
1 old wok

and then 2 cast iron casserole dishes

I don’t think you probably need 9 pans 😂

SheTookChances · 23/11/2023 07:56

More than we need. About 10 saucepans, 5 frying pans, a couple of the square griddle? ones, a few casserole pots. And more.

And the ones that get used most often...the cheap microwave plastic saucepans. 🤣

TwoShades1 · 23/11/2023 08:16

6 pots/saucepans and 4 frying pans. Never run out, but always wash up straight after cooking. So I would need to use all for the same meal to run out and I only have 5 rings in the hob. Though the frying pans are all oven safe.

WakingCliche · 23/11/2023 08:22

2 huge stainless steel saucepans, they are called jam pans but not used for jam
3 stainless steel saucepans
Stackable stainless steel steamer set
1 non stick pan
A full size wok
2 mini woks
A giant frying pan
2 small frying pans
Large casserole dish

BeyondMyWits · 23/11/2023 08:25

We were given a stainless steel set when we married 25 years ago. Still going strong.
Large, medium, small and gravy, with a big stock pot and casserole. All have lids. Have added a small and medium frying pan, and a non stick saute pan with lid.
So 4 actual saucepans. 9 cooking pans all together. All used, all the time. (Family of 4 with 10 at Christmas)
