I'm just wondering how often do people have alone time ? Is there ever a time your not needed/wanted? Is even getting peaceful bath/shower a luxury? Or do you get a good amount of you time on a regular bases ?

Everyday more or less. No children and DH and I have separate hobbies so spend at least part of most evenings apart. Couldn’t function without it. Although DDog is stuck to me most of the time so I suppose technically not alone.

CornTheCob · 22/11/2023 18:50

Every day.

NotFastButFurious · 22/11/2023 18:55

I live on my own so daily unless I have visitors staying!

Beezknees · 22/11/2023 19:43

Every day! I'm single, with one teenage son who is usually out with friends or holed up in his pit/bedroom. Occasionally he will grace me with his presence, usually when food appears on the table.

I have a lot more now than I did a few years ago. DC are now in the lower years of secondary and play a lot of sport. Today, for example, I finished work at 4 so I could do various club drop offs & pick ups from 5. As it was, they both had away fixtures so weren't back until 6.30/7.00 so I had over an hour home alone then. In the mornings, they leave to get the school bus 10 mins before I leave for work and just that short spell of peace is amazing.

Nothingbuttheglory · 22/11/2023 19:46

Ft job and small dc. I get alone time a few times a week: once after DH has gone out to his hobby and dc is asleep and once a week I go out to my hobby, plus DH takes dc swimming once a week. I tend to use my alone time to complete chores.

Coffeeandchristmascake · 22/11/2023 19:47

I usually get 15-20 mins a day. Sometimes I get up before everyone else ( although DD seems to sense me and usually appears soon after), or if DH is in the office and leaves at the crack of dawn I get up, make a cuppa and go back to sip it in bed. Bliss. I need my staring into soa e time

saveforthat · 22/11/2023 19:48

I expect you are asking people with young children but I swim every day. That's my me time.

AnneLovesGilbert · 22/11/2023 19:48

It’s been a while….

amillionglowingstars · 22/11/2023 19:51

I work part-time, so I have two days per week where my time is my own during school hours.

To be honest though I’ve always managed to have some form of time “off” at least once a week except when the kids were very very small.

Makemydaypunk · 22/11/2023 19:55

I only work 2 days a week, no children, husband works full time in his own business so I get a lot of me time, I consider myself very fortunate.

yellowlane · 22/11/2023 19:56

Everyday for several hours. I work part time and my dd is in secondary school.

OuiOuiKitty · 22/11/2023 19:56

Everyday. I have teens, they do their own thing a lot.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 22/11/2023 19:57

Ha I thought about this today as dd1 climbed into a lovely hot bubble bath. I thought oh I want a lovely bubble bath 😔I have dd1 to contend with wanting to come and sit on the toilet talking to me or having to rush my bath because I can hear baby dd2 crying with dh who is beyond useless at calming her. I sometimes get me time if dh is home and looks after both DDs whilst I go to the shops. It’s not fun though as I’m doing grocery shopping and rushing back as usual. I’ll be back at work end of Jan and have an hour commute each way so I’m going to kit my car out with chocolate and treats just for me to have some alone time 😂

bigbadbarry · 22/11/2023 19:57

I have loads now my kids are teenagers

SheIsStuck23 · 22/11/2023 19:59

Every weekday day between school hours and every Saturday for between 5-12 hours.

And every bedtime as me and DH sleep in separate rooms.

arethereanyleftatall · 22/11/2023 20:01

All the time. Right now in fact. Crave it and guess am used to it now to the point I would struggle without lots of it. Have Teenagers and am single so outside of part time work, quite a lot of taxi-ing, housework & admin - my time is my own. Probably about 8 hours a day I guess.

MrsRetriever · 22/11/2023 20:05

A few times a week, & I have a young child. Both me & DH get some time out of the house alone each week - we’d both really struggle if we didn’t

fivetriangulartrees · 22/11/2023 20:05

I had a day off about a month ago and spent three hours sitting quietly in a cafe. I had half a day on a course a few weeks ago, not alone, but at least doing something for me. I had a day off in the spring but spent most of it on the phone to an annoying man in a call centre. I had a day off in January last year.

It's not enough!

Currently hiding in the bathroom to have five minutes to myself.

Comedycook · 22/11/2023 20:06

Everyday but I don't work and my kids are teenagers. It was very different when they were little obviously

MrsCharlieD · 22/11/2023 20:07

Everyday, my DC are 9 and 6. I stay up late so usually have 3-4 hours at night after they've gone to bed. I do go for my nails doing every 3 weeks so that's another couple of hours and I have a girls night out every month. I'm really enjoying being out of the trenches with small children.

Necessitynamechange · 22/11/2023 20:10

On a good day, maybe 20 mins a day? Often absolutely none at all.

arethereanyleftatall · 22/11/2023 20:16

How is anyone active on this thread answering 'none'? What are you doing right now?

Umbellifer · 22/11/2023 20:18

One morning each week when XH takes DC to school and I can go back to bed with a cup of tea. Bliss 💜

ManchesterLu · 22/11/2023 20:18

About 4 evenings a week DP and I go off and do our own things. He likes gaming and I like reading, so we'll do those for a couple of hours before going to bed together. It's brilliant, and I love it.
