It certainly makes sense if you want to have the biggest, best, earliest, world-beating, superman, vaccine ever.

Even if we stopped using that vaccine after 12 months for some undisclosed reason...

Yes it's so sad that it wasn't pulled earlier.

Lisa Shaw death: Legal action 'only option' for husband

Gareth Eve says he has "no alternative" but to sue AstraZeneca over BBC presenter Lisa Shaw's death.

If Dominic Cummings did not realise how bad Boris Johnson was by about 2010 then he was not paying attention or was living in a cave.

I think there is room for the different approach of Chris Whitty and Patrick Vallance and their way of giving evidence.

NashvilleQueen · 21/11/2023 22:22

That's a shame @Aishah231 he speaks very highly of you.

Vinvertebrate · 21/11/2023 22:24

Outing, but whatever.. During the pandemic, DS named his 4 stuffed toys Kitty, Pretty, Itty Bitty and Chris Whitty. I still smile every time I tuck DS in with little Chris Whitty.

OceanicBoundlessness · 21/11/2023 22:26

I wonder why Whitty would say there was no planning when one of our disaster planners is adamant there were pandemic plans in place that were just ignored.

Sad story. I'm certainly no anti-vaxer criticising the AZ vaccine. I had the 2 AZ shots and I had a booster (not AZ) a few weeks back. There are certainly questions that should be asked though about the UK government initial pushing of the AZ, (and them bemoaning the lack of Covid cases 'in the wild') and the subsequent change to other vaccines.

Absolute bastard who didn't care about children's mental health and was happy to sell them down the swanny. Should be ashamed of himself.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 21/11/2023 22:29

People seem to be struggling with the idea that he was medical, not political. He didn't decide anything.

I felt the same seeing him today. He's so calm and measured and doesn't try to bullshit. He's happy to admit that they might have got things wrong. He's just such a lovely man. Just imagine if all of govt was filled with Chris Witty's. Just quiet intelligent men diligently going about their jobs with none of the piss taking, postering, lying or egos. The world would be a better place!

Yes!

Aishah231 · 21/11/2023 18:35

Really!? Complete tool in my opinion. Everything about the pandemic was terribly managed and he was at the centre of it all.

You clearly have no clue what his role was, and how much of his advice was ignored.
You’d be better doing a little more homework next time to avoid looking terrifically silly again.

Do you even know who the thread is about, or for that matter what day it is?
If you actually believe what you’ve written, then I suspect the answer is no.

Perfectly true - if you'd spent time with teenagers hoping to go back to school every three weeks and then having their hopes dashed and the accompanying mental health issues you'd think he same. Absolutely no thought as to how lockdown after lockdown might affect teen mental health.

TheThingIsYeah · 21/11/2023 20:09

First I’ve seen or heard of Whitty since he was given a knighthood. Same with JVT. On our screens every day for the best part of 2 years then all of a sudden became Sirs and disappeared.

Everyone is wise after the event as an old colleague of mine used to say when someone had fucked up at work.

Omg …. Do you realise how stupid you sound 🙄….. he’s not a fucking celebrity ….he’s back doing his day job

No….I really wouldn’t think that …. At all

MarvellousMinnie · 21/11/2023 22:48

@londonmummy1966 he wasn't making the decisions though! Save you're ire for the politicians!

justasking111 · 21/11/2023 22:48

Chris Witty and others presented the evidence to the government, what they did with the evidence was where things went a bit awry

Stomacharmeleon · 21/11/2023 23:26

@londonmummy1966 just out of curiosity what would you have done differently in this case. I think they were a bit damned If you do...
Our school stayed open because it Dealt with the vulnerable and those with mental health issues as did my sons special Ed schools.

It was a head of nursing, I think, who refused to defend the Barnard Castle eye test drive.

Ruth May. Then she just disappeared from the daily briefings.

Bassetlover · 22/11/2023 01:15

A friend of mine works with him, he's an absolutely lovely man.
