Police visiting my old address asking for me - why?

My ex-neighbour has contacted me to let me know that the police have visited their house (and presumably my old address too) trying to locate me.

I haven't lived at the address for a decade. Ex-neighbour was asked by police if she could contact me (we are friends on social media, although only in very occasional contact) and request that I ring 101. I've rung 101, they asked for my details and current address, and confirmed that there was something on the system but couldn't say what it was. Just said that the relevant dept would be in touch with me as soon as possible.

I can't think what on earth it could be related to, especially where it would be linked to such an old address and not my current address. I've never been witness to a crime, to my knowledge.

So, what are the possible reasons for a police visit to your house? And I'm thinking particularly of a visit to a very old address like this, which suggests that it can't be something current.

Any ideas, knowledge from police officers or those in the know, or accounts of similar experiences would be very welcome. I'm worrying about one or two family members that I've lost touch with in the last few years, which is making me feel really anxious that it might be related to them, but I'm sure there must be other reasons.

Sorry to hear about your relative OP. It’s always the way, you think about getting in touch only to discover…This might be the time to try to make contact with the other relative you have concerns about.

So sorry for your loss. Agree that it might be time to make an effort with the relative who you think is being controlled Flowers

It could be a myriad of things. You don't necessarily need to worry. Was there a car you sold years ago? It may have been involved in something. Could be fraud, someone using your details for insurance/purchasing and they've been reported by a company for things not adding up. Someone may have reported you for something else or given your name for something you may know or be a witness to. They may only have your old address on the system. You may have known someone closely that has been involved in an incident/crime etc, you could be someone's n.o.k.

If it's urgent they'll get in touch or you could just ring 101.

@PabloandGustheGreySquirrels
You are referring to my first post on this thread, (page 3).
I was strongly criticised for this by a poster, (also on page 3).
I apologised to the OP on page 5.
She did actually say that she appreciated the daft and funny posts, and some other posters also suggested that the complaining poster was being over-critical.
However, I wanted to apologise as, although my post was meant to be lighthearted, I was horrified if it came across as offensive and/or insensitive.
It is generally a good idea to RTFT - had you done this you would have known what transpired after my first post.
Have a nice day.
