I thought we could play a fun guessing game of why my MIL, without a shred of sarcasm, told me I need to take better care of my (42 year old) husband.

Winner can keep her!

Aw...her previous son is not being treated like a Prince. Shame on you!

LlynTegid · 20/11/2023 10:25

I'm guessing he's put on a bit of weight.

Milknosugarta · 20/11/2023 10:26

Or he's lost a bit of weight......

pastypirate · 20/11/2023 10:26

Had to let himself in to his own house?

He's lost an atom of weight?

justalittlesnoel · 20/11/2023 10:31

Did he have to make her a cup of tea because you didn't first?

Canisaysomething · 20/11/2023 10:33

He went to a pub for a Sunday roast when it really should have been you slaving away at home all day making one from scratch?

TherapistInATabard · 20/11/2023 10:35

Oh, did he have an affair? That’s what my granny said to my aunt when my uncle had an affair!

ihaveayod · 20/11/2023 10:36

Has he got manflu and you didn't run to his aid with painkillers and hot drinks. I bet you didn't even mop his fevered brow and mutter soothing words either.

TomatoSandwiches · 20/11/2023 10:36

Did he have to stretch for his slippers and lift the paper to find his pipe?

Velvian · 20/11/2023 10:37

He was wearing odd socks and I don't want the prize thanks.

HarpieDuJour · 20/11/2023 10:41

Have you failed to get up every morning and cook him a hot breakfast?

A friend of mine said this to me once, with no trace of irony. Apparently, she had done this every day for her husband. Who she had been divorced from for 10 years!

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 20/11/2023 10:44

My FIL told me I ought to be ironing DH's shirts, even though I hate ironing and DH likes it. My guess is it's that, and please just take the prize to a charity shop, plonk it on the counter and run away.

therealcookiemonster · 20/11/2023 10:44

@caggas come on OP, don't leave us in suspense! we are worried about your DH and how you may be neglecting him! poor dear.

Winnading · 20/11/2023 10:46

You "forgot" to buy her a gift for her birthday, mothers day, wedding anniversary? Even though it's his mother and he should get the blame.
You didnt iron something or worse still gave him tramlines on his sleeves. Tut tut.

MrsMaracas · 20/11/2023 10:47

It has to be food related! You served him a ready meal or something?

BeigeChair · 20/11/2023 10:48

You have a career and earn more than him and you are both ok with this?

Elastica23 · 20/11/2023 10:48

You don't pack his clothes for him for holidays.

DisforDarkChocolate · 20/11/2023 10:48

From my ex-MIL this started with me not doing his ironing. I wish I had seen this for what it was, a massive warning she would interfere in our relationship and that he was a sexist pig.

On a lighter note, did he have to buy his own pants?

FrustratedMumHelp · 20/11/2023 10:48

Cant wait to hear why mummys little boy needs more looking after than usual! Ah bless him 🤦🏻‍♀️

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 20/11/2023 10:51

Did he empty the washing machine himself?

cerisepanther73 · 20/11/2023 10:51

You forget to press, iron all his working clothes or white shirts in time for him
they didn't come up to her eagle eye , her high standards of perfection ...

Grimchmas · 20/11/2023 10:52

(I am loving the answers!)

Did he have to pack his own suitcase therefore got sent out into the wilderness woefully under prepared, with neither socks nor passport?

Dindundundundeeer · 20/11/2023 10:52

I like to believe this can't be sex related

SerafinasGoose · 20/11/2023 10:52

Adult males don't need to be taken care of. They are not children!

Where do some women get the idea that a cock and balls disqualifies a functioning adult from sticking some ingredients in the slow cooker, or opening the washing machine door, shoving in a pile of laundry and hitting 'start?'

Learned helplessness is learned. This is therefore a parenting fail on MiL's part.

Cyclebabble · 20/11/2023 10:52

Not much of a prize. I guess he had to do his own washing whilst you were at work?
