Before you had children, what would your dream family have looked like?

I’ve put before you had children because no one would change what they’ve got … I’ve got a boy followed by a girl. I used to want two girls and a boy, but I’m definitely two and done!

When I was we, I imagined having 8+ kids.

TreeHuggerMum1 · 19/11/2023 20:49

Always wanted two boys. Had that. Then needed a pink one too. Husband refused for any more after that. Ha.

DustyLee123 · 19/11/2023 20:52

We agreed on 4 children before having any, but he’d had enough at 3!

Ohhelpicantthinkofaname · 19/11/2023 20:53

I always wanted two girls and a boy. Had two girls and due to various reasons decided not to go for any more.

entertherealm · 19/11/2023 20:55

I always wanted 3 and my preference was definitely boys, but I said I wouldn't mind one girl. I ended up with 2 boys and 1 girl so I'm happy with that.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 19/11/2023 20:55

I wanted boys and I have two. I'd have liked a third boy, but didn't want a girl enough to risk it!

Holly60 · 19/11/2023 20:56

When I was a child I imagined having a husband and four children, a mix of genders.

Got married and agreed on two children. Had a girl, got pregnant again, and decided I wanted another girl (my first was just so scrummy I wanted another one just like her). Had a boy, fell in love.

So never had my four children, just had the two. Lucky they were perfect 😂.

Both adults now and have two each so I have four grandchildren. Sometimes I look after all four at once and although I adore them I'm often quite glad to be able to give them back, so it's a good thing I never went for four of my own! 😂😂😂

I wanted girls, I have 2 ❤️

Spendonsend · 19/11/2023 20:58

I was going to have 4 girls, who were all going to be in to reading, colouring and singing.

I have 2 boys and wont be having anymore. One has sen and they both hated colouring and reading and neither can sing. I really love them and all thier interest though, which are far better than the things i imagined.

I've no doubt my 4 imaginery girls would have hated colouring, reading and singing too had they been real and wowed me with their actual personality.

When I was little I wanted 3 or 4 children. I always imagined it would be with my husband too, as I have known him since we were little.

We had one child. It took us a while to conceive. Once we had one child we felt satisfied and like that was the right thing for us.

thecatsthecats · 19/11/2023 22:00

Wanted two.

Now have one, and am almost certain that I only want him. Everything about having more screams hard work to me.

EastCoastExile · 19/11/2023 22:05

Always wanted five children. Now happily pregnant with number seven (last one)!

NatMoz · 19/11/2023 22:07

I thought i'd be married at 21 as that was an ancient age🤣 -was married at 29 which now feels young.

Wanted 2 children but have 1 and i'm very satisfied

GanzeZeit · 19/11/2023 22:07

Imagined I'd have 3 or 4 children, a mix of boys and girls. Had 2 boys. Both have SEN. It is not how I thought family life would be at all.

troppibambini6 · 19/11/2023 22:18

I wanted a boy and a girl.
I ended up with 3 of each 😆

Sarasara1983 · 19/11/2023 22:19

I thought I’d have more money 😂

OceanicBoundlessness · 19/11/2023 22:28

I'm happy with what I've got except if I'd known how miserable teenagers could be I probably wouldn't have bothered.

Ferrer · 19/11/2023 22:34

Wanted four: two boys and two girls. Wanted to raise them in the countryside. Not sure I envisaged working.

I have three 3: two girls and a boy. Live in big city centre. Have a very busy career that I love and that I kept going even when kids were tiny.

different but I’m happy

Soonenough · 19/11/2023 22:34

I would have loved a large family 4 + kids , but DH wouldn't go for it. Now he is ex , I do resent that.

arlequin · 19/11/2023 22:36

Wanted 3 or 4 but crippling postnatal mental health issues means I think we're 2 and done (and so lucky with our gorgeous 2)

Oldhag5 · 19/11/2023 22:38

I always wanted 2 girls, definitely no boys. After my first boy I only wanted boys and have ended up with three!

hby9628 · 19/11/2023 22:41

I always thought I would have a boy. Had 2 girls. No desire to try for a third even if a boy was guaranteed. Love my girls very much.

Holidayhell22 · 19/11/2023 22:53

We didn’t have any plans to have children. Decided we wanted them whilst on honeymoon. After dd I didn’t know if we’d have any more or stick at one. Decided to try for another, then another.
Very happy.
Dcs are all young adults and I don’t care if they have children or not. Ds had said he doesn’t want them.

OneStepOneStumble · 19/11/2023 22:55

Always wanted 2 kids, a girl first, then a boy.

Did have 2 kids, both girls, and now can't imagine it any other way.

GrizabellaGerbil · 19/11/2023 22:59

I never wanted any children.

I have four.
