I'll start, I tried Audreys last year, made in the Hove and do or used to supply fortnum and mason.
I spent around 27 and chose my own. Extremely good and a real treat.

I’m not keen on Audrey’s - the chocolate tastes greasy to me and without any specific flavour.

If I wanted a bar of chocolate I’d go for a Tony’s milk (the red one) or if I wanted truffles probably Charbonnel et Walker. I love fondants and creams of which C and W do good ones and also Fortnums. Actually I love Maltesers too!

I want a box of rose and violet creams as well, I've had some in Audrey last year and also one year had chernoble and walker

I don't think you mean Chernobyl.

@determinedtomakethiswork

No, I agree. I didn't mean to reference a nuclear plant but I can't spell the other one 🤣

Charbonnel et Walker - they are good.

Audrey’s is also nice (I like Cadburys so not in any way a chocolate snob) but I went with them one year as you they have more flavours - I like all the soft centres in Roses, so I wanted to try the others. And my dad only likes violet creams so I sent him a box of just violet so I didn’t have to do him a favour and eat all the rose ones.

Rococo had a floral soft centre box that had geranium in and it was delicious but they are SO expensive and I’m not sure if they do still have them.

HedonistHuntress · 18/11/2023 10:55

I do think the Leonidas or Neuhaus fresh cream from Harrods are the best probably…

Bestchocolate · 18/11/2023 15:18

@HedonistHuntress

Well leondis state very clearly on their website that they absolutely don't use any nasties or palm oil which is extremely promising.
However I can't see at all what's actually in any boxes of chockates

Chocolate & Love brand is delicious and no nasties in it. Also Fairtrade and Organic. I especially like the Creamy Dark with Cacao Nibs.

Iverymuchdoubtitdarling · 18/11/2023 15:27

Pump Street Bakery is very tasty.

Sexnotgender · 18/11/2023 15:29

Caragh Chocolate, made in Sark.

Caspianberg · 18/11/2023 15:32

Lindt.
The Lindt mini napolitians are great imo for the value. It’s what I’m using for advent calendar filling

and you can order pick and mix version of the Lindt balls if you want certain types

Lindt Napolitains Chocolate Box 700g

The Lindt Napolitains box contains a selection of luxurious swiss chocolate pieces. Perfect for a gift for someone special. Buy Online.

The only time I have had Tony’s was a free bar with an Ocado order when they were launching in the UK. I thought it was horrible! It was milk though and I prefer dark, should I give the dark bars a go?

I like Lidl dark chocolate and caramel, the Aldi plain chocolate, and Lindt dark chocolate balls.

I think if Audreys chocolate was that good they wouldn't have to come onto MN to advertise it

Give me a bar of marvellous creations any day

Now your talking, I love sneaking a small. Marvelous creations into my shopping if I pop to waitrose! Maybe other shops do small ones but I have only noticed them in waitrose!

Plumpciousness · 18/11/2023 15:47

I tried Audrey's when I was in Brighton, having seen recommendations on here. Wasn't impressed and wouldn't buy again.

Violet and rose creams: so far I haven't found better than Charbonnel et Walker. Expensive though, and the only chocolate I can successfully limit to one a day, because of the cost! You can select individual chocolates in the shop (are they just in London?) so don't have to commit to a whole box, but still expensive - about £16 for 8 or 10 loose chocolates, the last time I treated myself.

For selection boxes I've had Prestat jewel or Soho boxes a couple of times as gifts, and liked them a lot. Small, but a lovely treat.

Bendicks mint chocolates dark and mintylicious 😋

mushroomushroom · 18/11/2023 17:23

I absolutely love Tosier chocolate, bit pricy but so good!!

FairfaxAikmann · 18/11/2023 18:23

If I'm being snobby then it's Charlotte Flower chocolate - her elderflower white chocolate is a particular favourite - or Femmes De Virunga, which supports female cacao growers.

For everyday then Malteasers do the job

snowgal · 18/11/2023 18:29

Montezuma's or Chococo

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 18/11/2023 18:36

Chococo, or Pierre Marcolini if you are after really special stuff.

kerstina · 18/11/2023 18:49

My neighbour bought me a lovely bar of Kneales Ameretto chocolate . It was lovely but I can’t see it on their website .

WYorkshireRose · 18/11/2023 18:51

I like the fresh chocolates from Chococo, but they don't have a very long shelf life, so probably wouldn't order more than a week ahead for Christmas.

PosiePerkinPootleFlump · 18/11/2023 19:07

The Chocolate Society's dark chocolate truffles are really excellent.

And have had some really good chocolate bars from Cocoa Runners.

Bestchocolate · 19/11/2023 08:12

I love Maltesers as well and munchies.
But this is for Xmas for me, a special treat.
I don't like lots of mushy truffle.

I can't stand lindt or Lindor they're too sweet & sickly

I love Leonidas & dh buys me a box in my Christmas stocking every year.

I'm not a huge fan of truffles. I find them too heavy & rich.

I was in Brussels earlier this year & tried some amazing chocolate there including Neuhaus, Pierre Marcolini & Mary's chocolates 🍫

I enjoyed them all!

I don't eat chocolate very regularly but from time to time I love a bar of Tony's Chocolonely. Yesterday j bought the sea salt one & I enjoyed a good chunk of it last night

I'm not a huge fan of Cadburys anymore but I do still enjoy their Turkish delight as well as the Frye's Turkish delight

RedCoatSearch · 19/11/2023 08:47

When I'm in ireland I also like Butler's chocolates

They have cafes in the airport & train station & when you buy a hot drink they give you a chocolate of your choice.

The best drink is their hot chocolate though. It's made with real melted chocolate & milk & it's a rich delicious treat! I recommend it
