Audrey's chocolates makes chocolate for Fortnum and Mason, pricey but way nicer than HC. I'd rather save a bit and push the boat out at Christmas with Audrey's.

😱I liked their business model. They've stayed independent for a remarkable length of time but I suppose everyone sells out eventually. If the product remains good I'll continue to buy it.

It's fine. Hotel Chocolat, I mean. It doesn't compare with anything from a good chocolatier. And at least they didn't sell out to Cadbury's.

I admit to liking Hotel Chocolat dark chocolate.

Also their chocolate is dull, plasticky mass-produced crap. It's just Thorntons but more expensive and in sleeker packaging.

I don't see it being a bad thing.
Mars will be wanting a more luxury brand to balance their offering.

They don't have shareholders so don't have to asset strip like publicly owned businesses and particularly those owned by hedge funds.

They actually have a niche chocolate company that makes nice chocolates in the USA but it's too niche for the purpose of balancing out the business. The chocolate is pleasant quality though.

First red flag is the announcement saying production will remain in the UK.

If you want high street priced chocolate that tastes good, go for Lindt. If you want really fancy Christmas treat chocolates, go for the Highland Chocolatier.

I used to like their chocolate, especially the caramel milk batons, but the quality has dropped massively in the last few years. I'd rather have galaxy these days

I do like Hotel Chocolat, but also Maltesers. That doesn't mean I would like HC to taste like Maltesers, mind.

tbh they should have stopped making their awful, overpriced chocs a long time ago. absolutely rank.

I like it. They started selling in USA then withdrew completely. they’ve reintroduced the drinks range only now. Miss the chocolates

I've never had to understand the hype over Hotel Chocolat as I've never seen or heard any hype about them. I just go in the shop and buy chocolate from there, from time to time.

I am also not a fan. I would rather get from somewhere like 29 degrees. Not as cheap as HC, but at least worth it
