I don't like their chocolate anyway. Prefer Lindt or Green & Blacks.

Strawberrypicnic · 16/11/2023 17:17

Tony's all the way! Nothing beats it.

whynotwhatknot · 16/11/2023 17:18

my dh loves their really dark chocolate-he'll be gutted if they change recipes

Webex · 16/11/2023 17:18

Where are you all seeing this hype?

Comtesse · 16/11/2023 17:21

I always thought they were over trading - surprised they have managed to stay independent for as long as this tbh.

Lorrymum · 16/11/2023 17:24

I used to love it and then was horribly sick after eating some. Not sure if it was a coincidence but can't even look at it now.

Shellingbynight · 16/11/2023 17:24

I liked them 25 years ago, but either they changed or I did. When we get them as a present nowadays I let OH eat them all.

HeavenCANTwait · 16/11/2023 17:26

When they first started it was fine, but literally for first 3 years

Then inedible

Papillon23 · 16/11/2023 17:27

They've said they aren't changing recipes etc.
Maybe they will, maybe they won't. I can't say I wouldn't have turned down over ยฃ100million each so honestly good for them.

jemenfous37 · 16/11/2023 17:30

For me, the only chocolate worth having is Alain Ducasse. But then again, I only eat chocolate once every Preston Guild, so happy to take hit on price for quality!

Bertiesmum3 · 16/11/2023 17:30

Hopefully this will improve the chocolate, atm itโ€™s vile, just like cheap cooking chocolate

Lengokengo · 16/11/2023 17:31

I was given a huge box recently for a favour I did, had about 3 chocolates then had to give it away, it was awful! And when it comes to chocolate I have very low standards! Such a disappointment. Would rather have had a toblerone!

MikeRafone · 16/11/2023 17:31

I actually prefer lidl and the Aldi chocolate - there 70% and over is far smoother and better texture to my palette

CointreauVersial · 16/11/2023 17:32

Oh, I love Hotel Chocolat. DH got a HC hamper from a supplier last year - I was in absolute heaven. He didn't get a look-in.

I often pick up their "30% off" short-dated stuff, which makes it a bit cheaper. It doesn't hang around long enough to go off.

I bet it will change if it's been taken over.๐Ÿ˜ช

NoseForTruffles · 16/11/2023 17:32

No! I love their mint royales!

I love hotel Chocolat. Let's see, it might be a good thing.

Yeah, selling Cadbury's to Kraft was a fabulous idea....๐Ÿ™„

GettingOldWithoutStyle · 16/11/2023 17:33

Yay, they might make it palatable ๐Ÿ˜‚

Rainbow1901 · 16/11/2023 17:33

Who cares? Not a chocolate fan!!

coffeeaddict77 · 16/11/2023 17:34

I don't particularly like any chocolate apart from Hotel Chocolate so I'm really disappointed. There is no way it will stay the same.

VanityDiesHard · 16/11/2023 17:35

MrsMitford3 · 16/11/2023 16:51

I admit to liking Hotel Chocolat dark chocolate.

Loathe Mars chocolate. Why does everything have to merge?
Everything gets so same-y and falls to the low bar

falls to the low bar

So? The world doesn't revolve around you and what you are and aren't a fan of!

SkyFullofStars1975 · 16/11/2023 17:36

I love their dark chocolate recipes. Will be disappointed if that changes.

MintyCedric · 16/11/2023 17:37

Mehโ€ฆI used to like HC but the last stuff I bought from there was pretty dire so I guess the writing was on the wall.

I had this experience with the last box I was given as a gift. It was just not anywhere as good as it used to be.

First red flag is the announcement saying production will remain in the UK.

Heard that before. Cadburys anyone?

I know. Sad
