Tell me your favourite looking word

I love printed books because I love how the letters look against the grain of the paper. I’m particularly drawn to how certain words look.

Am I a weirdo?

For example I love how blue, grumble and crumble look.

Tell me I am not alone 🫣

My favourite is bed because it looks like a bed!

Saltysal · 16/11/2023 10:43

I like words that start and end with the same letter, and palindromes are my favourite. I love symmetry and the words are very calming to me!

I've always liked the word quincaillerie. Shame they're dying out. As are drogueries.

They’re quite satisfying

I love the sound of the word ‘chicane’, although not it look.

Smartstuffed · 16/11/2023 12:23

Chocolate. It always sounds fast and 'greedy' to me - like I should just gobble it up.

However, if I say 'chocolat', in the French way, it feels like something to be savoured slowly and mindfully!

I don't like the word 'juice'. I think if you say it a few times you forget what it means. I've thought this for ages. Years. Decades!

This is the second time in my life I've honoured this thought with an audience. First time my DH squinted at me and said, 'its things like this that make people think you're odd!'

My favourite word is 'incendiary'. I get excited when I can include it in an email. That is very outing probably.

I'm glad others have strong word sound preferences.

I like swimming when I write it. It's all curly ups and downs

Cocoandcleo · 16/11/2023 12:29

Enjoy the words bubble, twinkle, sparkle and bewitch. Hate the word 'concertina' no idea why. Also don't like unison.

I have a friend called Ellie and a friend called Kellie. I love writing out cards for them 😆

CesareBorgia · 16/11/2023 12:32

I like the word 'feign' aesthetically.

Ooo yes that is a good one. Not so much typing it but writing it is immensely satisfying.

enumerator is very satisfying to handwrite

Me too!

I used to draw it as a bed when I was a child. You can make the circle of the b look like a pillow and draw a stick man lying down on it.

Muffinbutton · 16/11/2023 13:19

I love the word aluminum. It flows so nicely in joined up hand writing.

lightelmqueen · 16/11/2023 13:30

I discovered my oldest daughter's name in a novel. I absolutely loved the way it looked when written and obviously also loved how it sounded. There are a few variations in spelling for her name but the one I chose just looks so much nicer than the rest, even if it is the same name, and because it looks nicer in my head it sounds nicer. Even if that makes no sense at all

Loverofoxbowlakes · 16/11/2023 14:05

I love the word Samuel written down. It's beautiful to handwrite too.

<outing to anyone who knows me> I love the sound of 'solifluction'

WallaceinAnderland · 16/11/2023 14:07

little

in cursive, before you cross the t's

Dahlia444 · 16/11/2023 14:10

I love the German word for chewing gum written by a German person - it's kaugummi (iirc) and because they (or when my German exchange did anyway!) write the letter m it looks like 2 of our letter u. So the whole satisfying combination of uuuuui is brilliant. (Sorry if my explanation is so terrible!)

Redskyatwhatever · 16/11/2023 14:18

I love the word marshmallow it looks very bouncy and comfortable

dontforgettithespaghetti · 16/11/2023 17:59

Autumn is a lovely word to write in cursive.
I also love seeing the words problem and emblem in print.

Abhannmor · 16/11/2023 18:14

Raven. The look and the sound. And the bird!

Goatymum · 16/11/2023 18:17

Not sure about writing specific words but a lot of loops is good!!
As for words in general l love
behemoth
hate the name Malcolm - the 2nd l makes me cringe 😬 ok I’m weird.

BarborousBarbra · 16/11/2023 18:19

I want to say “flower” but I’m not entirely sure why.
